Yan Yueqing was amused by its reaction, "You little rascal, quite polite, aren’t you? Go on, then! Don’t keep Nuannuan waiting."
At her words, Zai Zai bounded away towards the Dog Hole with a sprightly leap.
After watching the little fellow leave, Yan Yueqing picked so roses in the garden. Before she could walk to the living room, Butler Zhong hurried over to find her, "Miss Yueqing, Miss Ji has arrived."
Nuannuan?
Yan Yueqing was surprised, and gathered the roses in her hands, "Okay, I’ll be right over."
Stepping into the spacious living room, Yan Yueqing spotted Zai Zai imdiately, lying on the carpet by the door.
Ji Nuannuan was squatting down, saying sothing to it.
Too far to hear, Yan Yueqing couldn’t make out the words, but judging by Zai Zai’s reaction, it was certainly not sothing pleasant.
Yan Yueqing approached with a smile, "Nuannuan."
"Sister Yue," Ji Nuannuan smiled awkwardly, "I’m so sorry, I didn’t expect Zai Zai to run over to your place again."
Yan Yueqing handed over the roses, "It likes flowers. It’s just co to have a look, it’s no trouble. Look, the roses in the yard are about to be out of season. How about I have Butler Zhong send you a bunch every day?"
Truly fond of flowers, a smile appeared on Ji Nuannuan’s face imdiately, "Oh, they’re so beautiful! The flowers from Sister Yue’s ho are different, even prettier than the roses my mom brings back from abroad."
Yan Yueqing pulled her to sit down on the couch, and Zai Zai, knowing it was in the wrong, stayed lying politely on the carpet without following them.
"Nuannuan, I rember you had plans to go abroad soon?"
"Yeah, initially it was my parents who were supposed to co back to the country, but then they ran into so thorny issues that required their attention... I haven’t seen my parents in a long ti, and they wanted to take over for a couple of days. But my aunt and her husband haven’t returned yet, and leaving Great-grandfather alone here—nobody at ho feels at ease about it."
Ji Nuannuan sighed, "In the end, we had a video conference and decided against it. They’ll co back after they’re done with their busy period. I do miss them a lot, but Great-grandfather hates being cared for by strangers, and my brother can’t leave his work, so it’s really tough."
Yan Yueqing nodded, "The old master at my ho is the sa, thankfully Steward Yan has been with him for decades, and he’s still in good health now, otherwise... I don’t know how worried I should be."
Having an elder at ho is like having a treasure—this saying holds true.
But as elders age, their health undeniably declines—this too is the truth!
Especially after experiencing the loss of Dad and the heart transplant, Grandfather’s health was nowhere near what it used to be.
He even handed over a lot of power to Yan Kang, letting him and the uncle figure it out...
Actually, Grandfather knew better than anyone that the people of the Yan Family were unreliable!
The uncle and Yan Kang were pri examples of this.
But he really didn’t have the energy anymore...
The growing frailty of his body made Grandfather incapable of dealing with many things. He could only expose certain things to be chewed on by others to buy himself ti to recover.
Besides Steward Yan, few others served by Grandfather’s side.
First, because he wasn’t used to it.
And secondly, for fear that the uncle, heartless as he was, might tamper with his choices of personal help and ultimately endanger his life.
Many wealthy families share such fears, not to ntion soone as exceptional in status as Boss Bai. It’s good to be cautious.
Yan Yueqing said, "It’s rather peaceful over here, and Grandfather has a decent relationship with Boss Bai. So if..."
She didn’t finish her sentence.
Such things were better left unsaid—Nuannuan would understand the implication.
Anything beyond that would be inappropriate.
