That night,
It had been almost a dozen hours since Alia Avery was kidnapped and buried.
No one had discovered she was missing.
The one person who might have, Cassian Jennings, seed to have forgotten all about her. He was currently taking care of Gia Miller, who was pretending to be unconscious.
Lightning flashed outside. Cassian Jennings looked up with a frown, then got up to close the window and draw the curtains.
He turned to glance at the woman lying on the bed before leaving and closing the door behind him.
A vague sense of unease crept into Cassian Jennings’s heart. He picked up his phone, wanting to call the woman and ask where she was, but when he opened his contacts, he realized he didn’t even know which number was hers...
The feeling of helplessness left Cassian feeling frustrated and restless.
’She just vanished during the day. It’s not like she was kidnapped, so where on earth did she go?’
After thinking for a long ti, he recalled Alia Avery’s fiery temper and told himself to stop worrying. ’With a personality like hers, she’s the one who bullies others. Who could possibly bully her? Besides, no one would dare.’
「Newcroft, Villa District.」
Hearing the thunder outside, Mika Sumrs frowned slightly. Just then, Tristan Grayson’s arms tightened around her and Kiki, pulling them closer into his embrace.
He lowered his head, kissed her on the forehead, and said with a smile, "Go to sleep."
"Mm."
A wave of warmth washed over her heart. She humd in response and closed her eyes.
But she wasn’t the least bit sleepy. Her thoughts turned to Silas Kent. ’It’s been so many days since I got back, and I still haven’t told him I’m here...’
’If Silas knew I was back, he’d definitely be furious.’
’Sigh... Maybe... Maybe it’s ti I told him tomorrow.’

The next day, a little after ten in the morning, Silas Kent flew back from Austerra to Tridell.
He had just gotten off the plane and turned on his phone when a call ca in from Mika Sumrs. His brow furrowed, his expression unreadable.
After the call connected, Silas Kent didn’t speak first. The woman’s voice ca through slowly. "Silas, I’ve been thinking a lot these past two days. I don’t think... I don’t think I can get engaged to you."
Hearing her words, a sharp pain shot through Silas Kent’s heart. A mocking smile touched his lips as he asked coldly, "Why?" Even though he already knew the answer, he had to ask. He needed to hear it from her own lips.
"I... I’m back in Tridell. Silas, I’m sorry. I’ve decided to remarry Tristan Grayson."
Silas Kent stopped in his tracks. He tilted his head up slightly, suppressing the ache in his heart, and said icily, "Remarry? Mika Sumrs, have you forgotten how he hurt you?"
"Silas, I’m sorry..."
"I don’t want to hear your apologies. Mika Sumrs, you can’t remarry him." ’If you remarry him, then what does that make ?’
But Silas Kent never said those words out loud. Her voice ca through the phone again. "I’m truly sorry, but other than ’I’m sorry,’ I don’t know what else to say. Silas Kent, you deserve a better woman. You shouldn’t waste your ti on ."
Before Silas Kent could respond, she hung up.
Silas Kent’s hand tightened around his phone, his eyes filled with anguish. ’In the end, she still chose to be with Tristan Grayson. There was never any place for in her heart...’
’Mika Sumrs, do you have any idea how much you’ve hurt ?’
’If you could never forget him, why did you give hope? You gave hope, only to shatter my happiness just when I thought I’d finally found it...’
