Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Boss, I’m back again!

Editor: Henyee Translations

After bidding farewell to Ren Xing and leaving the trade building, Wang Hao’s stomach suddenly growled, and he finally felt a bit hungry.

Hunger was a strange thing. Sotis, if you didn’t think about it, you wouldn’t feel it at all. But once you did, it felt like your stomach would stick to your back, and you couldn’t even walk.

“Better eat sothing first,” he thought.

After looking around, he casually chose a restaurant nad “Yi Xiang Nong” and walked in.

The restaurant wasn’t large, but it felt very clean. It was lunchti, and a few couples were eating, chatting, and laughing quietly.

“Boss, give a bowl of rice noodles with shredded pork and green peppers. Add more green peppers, more shredded pork, and more noodles,” Wang Hao called out.

The boss was speechless: “You might as well ask for two bowls…”

The rice noodles ca soon. Wang Hao ate while looking at his phone, logging into Fengyun Chinese Network to check the statistics for Break the Heavens.

Break the Heavens: Collection count: 12, Recomnded votes: 16, mber clicks: 21.

Looking at these dismal numbers, Wang Hao knew he wasn’t wrong.

Even for a phenonal book, a complete nobody like him posting it wouldn’t get many clicks. After all, there were only so many readers, and how many would click on a short new work of less than ten thousand words?

“Looks like I’ll need to promote it,” Wang Hao thought. “If I don’t get more collections this week, how can I climb the charts next Monday? If I don’t make it to the charts, the book’s exposure period will be very long, which is obviously not worth it.”

Wang Hao knew a bit about the signing and recomndation process for a novel.

After releasing a book, it needed to reach a certain word count to enter the back end for signing editors. Several editors would cross-review the book, and if more than half believed it had comrcial value, they would notify for signing.

After signing and mailing the contract, once the contract was processed, the editor would arrange recomndations based on the quality of the book. Once on the recomndation list, the book could officially enter readers’ sights.

Obviously, from releasing the book to reaching the required word count for signing—at least twenty thousand words—would take three to four days. Then you’d get the signing notification, mail out the contract, and by the end of the second week, the timing for arranging recomndations would be too late. You’d have to wait until the third week to schedule recomndations, aning the book would be recomnded in the fourth week.

Four weeks was too long of a cycle; Wang Hao couldn’t wait that long.

Especially since it would already be August, if everything went well, it should be released in September. However, only one month of recomndation period, which was four weeks, was still too short.

So now, the importance of the charts was evident!

Before signing, Wang Hao aid for the [New Author New Book List] chart. Getting on this chart would be like a small recomndation, and with a collection base after signing, he could aim for the [New Author Signed New Book List], which had a better effect than the previous one.

And by this ti, recomndations would be arranged; one month on the [New Author Signed New Book List] plus the editor’s arranged recomndations could hit the [mber Clicks List]!

Compared to the first two charts, the power of the mber Clicks List was a qualitative leap!

Once on this list, a book would truly beco a hit!

“Ti waits for no one,” Wang Hao quickly finished his lunch. After paying the bill and leaving, he planned to go ho and use the internet. But then he had a second thought…

“Today is a lucky day!” Wang Hao rubbed his chin. “Using the internet at ho on a lucky day would be a waste; let’s go to an internet cafe!” Good luck at ho had its limits; going to an internet cafe might bring even better fortune!

Resolutely, he took a taxi to an internet cafe near his ho. “Hehehe, boss, I’m back! Let’s see who dares to stop today! Anyone who dares ruin my good luck, I’ll battle to the end!” As soon as he walked in, the computer repair guy knelt down: “Big brother, big brother, why are you here again?”

“What, your place doesn’t allow custors?”

Wang Hao went straight to the counter: “You don’t let people play here? What do you an by ‘why are you here again,’ not welcoming?”

“No, it’s…” The repair guy was sweating all over. He couldn’t afford to provoke this jinx. If he ran into computer problems again, today’s business would be ruined. He hurriedly cald Wang Hao down: “It’s like this, our boss explained, if you co, you must wait for him for a while. Sir, please have a seat here and smoke a cigarette!” He handed Wang Hao a cigarette, frantically giving the counter staff a look: What are you dawdling for? The jinx from yesterday is back; hurry and call the boss!

The counter staff instantly understood and disappeared in a flash.

Wang Hao took out a zippo lighter given to him by a Japanese friend. As soon as he took it out, the repair guy’s eyes lit up: “Big brother, your lighter is cool, where did you get it?”

At this ti, Wang Hao had to decisively enter show-off mode. He lit the cigarette, took a satisfying puff, and while exhaling smoke, said, “A Japanese friend gave it to as an apology gift; you probably can’t buy it.”

“Wow! Big brother, you’re pretty impressive!” The repair guy exclaid, “Making a Japanese friend apologize and give a gift, that’s aweso!”

I think so too!

Wahahaha!

Wang Hao had only smoked half a cigarette when the boss rushed over, sweating: “Big brother, big brother, why are you here?” The car accident scene from yesterday was still fresh in his mind. The internet cafe boss was truly afraid Wang Hao would wreck his place.

Really, a guy in his mid-thirties calling big brother, is that appropriate?

Wang Hao thought it was very appropriate! Today, he was lucky, invincible!

“Yes, you’re right,” Wang Hao said with a cigarette in his mouth. “Why are you still standing there? Hurry and prepare a computer!”

The boss, originally quite plump, started sweating even more at Wang Hao’s words: “Big brother, if you say so, what else can I say,” he directly told the repair guy, “Set up a computer for him, free of charge!”

This jinx! Set up a free one and send him off quickly!

“Alright!” With the boss’s approval, the repair guy sighed with relief, quickly set up a machine in the VIP area for Wang Hao.

Normally, it cost ten bucks an hour!

“Big brother, this way, please!” The internet cafe boss led the way like he was serving a king: “This computer is guaranteed to satisfy you!” Before leaving, the boss didn’t forget to give the repair guy a look—What are you standing here for? Go check the fuses!

“Ah, sorry to trouble you!” Wang Hao smiled and turned on the computer, “Boss, yesterday you said you’d set up a board to worship Guan Yu for …”

“Got it! Definitely got it!” The internet cafe boss, sweating, pointed to a statue of Guan Yu by the counter: “Look, it’s right there!”

Wang Hao turned to look—Guan Yu’s face actually had his own photo stuck on it!
