Zach and his familiars looked at the flitting wisp of divine energy. It was imbued with the will and powers of the Goddess of Purification. None of them knew what he was supposed to do with it. But they knew that as soon as he let go of it, it would return to Bartuk.

That would be a waste.

After a few monts, Vidri had an idea.

"Can you cleanse the divine energy, Master? Make it pure and remove that goddess’ influence?" She asked.

Zach didn’t answer. He didn’t know. But it was worth a shot. He had a feeling it would be difficult, though.

Extracting the divine energy from Zoe was like fishing hair out of his food. It was tricky and a little uncomfortable, but at least the hair and food were separate things. But trying to remove the goddess’ influence from the divine energy was like separating sugar and water in sugar water.

Divine energy was an energy of the sa level or maybe even above his world essence energy. And the divine energy in his hand belonged to a god, who was far more powerful than him.

But he had Extracted from the Basilisk, which had been stronger than him. It had been dead at the ti, but right now, he was only dealing with less than a fraction of Mistra’s strength. It should be doable at least in terms of strength.

The only question was if he had the skill to do it.

Zach could already guess that his hands would hurt from the process, but they were already aching from the divine energy, so it wasn’t that big of a deal.

Zach closed his eyes and covered the divine energy with both hands, creating a sphere around the divine energy, trapping it with nothing but his flesh.

The world essence energy fighting against the divine energy made it more volatile, which made Zach’s task more difficult. He had to pull it back inside his hands, where it could focus on healing them faster than they were torn apart.

With his eyes closed, his impression of the divine energy was no longer clouded by the appearance as interpreted by his eyes. That feeling of seeing sothing for what it was as soon as he stopped looking at it with his eyes gave Zach an idea, but now wasn’t the ti to get distracted.

He focused on his impression of the divine energy and the feeling it gave him.

Mistra was the Goddess of Purification. She sounded like a benevolent and gentle goddess who removed filth, evil, and impurities from the world. It wasn’t wrong. It was just that the definition of impurities was loose.

Zach got the feeling from the divine energy in his hands that everything not blessed by the Goddess of Purification was impure. That ant her divine energy wanted to purify everything. In this case, purification ant removal from existence.

The Goddess of Purification’s powers were harsh and brutal. Far from gentle.

It made them easy to identify.

Zach’s hands and fingers prickled like electricity shot through them as he pressed his fingertips into the bubble created by the divine energy. He grabbed hold before pulling apart, separating the Goddess’ powers of purification from the divine energy. His hands felt like they were tearing apart.

Divine energy was not sothing he was supposed to play with. It was a power currently beyond him. He was paying the price for crossing that boundary.

It was less than a fraction of a fraction of the powers of a god.

Zach’s hands were about to fall apart just from separating the divine energy and the goddess’s attributes.

If not for a body strengthened and reinforced by world essence energy, boatloads of potions, and rigorous training over multiple years, his hands would have turned to dust before he fully separated the divine energy.

But eventually, with a pale expression and trembling, bony hands, Zach held the two powers. He had a colorless, floating, airy drop in one hand. It was the divine energy, ready to be taken and stained by the powers of soone powerful enough, like a blank canvas.

In the other hand, he had a fierce ball of light fighting to tear him and the rest of the world apart. But it was fading quickly without the support of the divine energy or the support of its owner.

Zach squashed it with his hand, putting it out like a floating ember.

So distance away in the tunnel between Gjula and Kuros, Bartuk looked up and glanced around, a sense of discomfort filling every bone in his body. He didn’t know what was happening, but whatever it was, it made him uneasy. But as quickly as the sensation ca, it left again.

Far, far away in a place untouched by the filth of mortal hand, in a white space, a woman so beautiful any person with dignity would tear their eyes out lest they sully her with their gaze, sat up and narrowed her eyes. She turned in Zach’s direction.

Zach frowned as a chill ran down his spine. He chalked it up to worry about his hands and focused on the divine energy. It was easier to handle now, but it seed stubborn in another way.

It was like when his world essence energy was dormant. It wouldn’t get in the way, but it wouldn’t listen well, either.

Now, the question was what to do with this.

"Okay, who wants so of this?" He asked bluntly. Three of his familiars were looking at it with fervor. If he were honest, he was also curious about what would happen if he consud so of it.

Would it mix with his world essence energy or cause trouble?

"I do, Master. I can make this thing even better with it," Vidri said, showing the dallion that had now turned into a cube with stripes of blue running through it.

" too, Master. I think divine energy is the difference between a deity and a god." Sosora could tell instinctively that the divine energy would be good for her. It wouldn’t help her regain her strength imdiately, but it would help her lay down the groundwork toward reaching heights beyond her peak.

"I also want so, Master," Mandra said. Divine energy. It was her first ti coming in contact with such an intriguing energy. She wanted to study it.
