Chapter 620 Underground Cavern

Wang Chao smoked one cigarette after another, but he still couldn't find any flaws in Bernard's behavior.

Bernard appeared completely normal, going about his busy routine of etings, consultations, ward rounds, and so on. Everything seed ordinary, but to Wang Chao, this normality seed suspiciously abnormal.

He couldn't shake the feeling that sothing was off.

"Trying to deceive won't be that easy," Wang Chao muttered, his eyes icy.

Most people who had been forcefully subjected to his "Soul Capture" skill suffered so ntal damage and wouldn't recover so quickly within a day or two. But Bernard not only recovered, but he also seed perfectly normal in his work, which was definitely not normal.

"Bernard, you can not hide the truth from ," Wang Chao said, his voice resolute.

He firmly believed that as long as he followed Bernard, even if Bernard had taken Shen Bing and locked her away, he would have no ti to do anything harmful to her. The mont Bernard had any malicious intentions, Wang Chao would intervene and save Shen Bing.

Shen Bing awoke from her semi-conscious state, feeling a splitting headache, as if her head was about to explode.

The side effects of the drugs she had taken earlier were particularly intense.

She gritted her teeth and endured the pain as she sat up, looking around.

Her heart filled with worry when she took in her surroundings.

She was in a steel cage suspended in mid-air by four chains, hanging on the side of a mountain like a bat asleep during the day.

The cage contained enough food and water for three days.

Beneath the cage was a pool of unknown depth.

The most eerie part was that the water in the pool was blood-red.

More terrifyingly, the steel cages were located in a vast underground cavern.

There were nurous tiny holes in the cavern's ceiling, allowing light to shine in and illuminate certain areas brightly.

At the sa ti, so areas remained extrely dark, so much so that no light reached them, making it pitch-black and impossible to see anything.

There were over a hundred steel cages like hers, arranged in a line, both spectacular and hair-raising.

The light couldn't reach the other cages, so she couldn't see clearly if anyone was inside.

"Where is this place? How did I end up here?" Shen Bing's brow furrowed with deep concern.

Upon seeing her situation clearly, she felt an overwhelming sense of fear.

This place was extrely eerie!

Just staying here, she felt goosebumps all over her body, as if sothing in the darkness was staring at her, leaving her trembling in fright.

"Is anyone there? Help, soone, please!!" Shen Bing imdiately shouted for help.

Her voice echoed far and wide in the cavern.

However, other than her own voice, there was no response from anyone else.

Shen Bing grew anxious, scanning her surroundings and studying the steel cage.

The cage had a peculiar design, appearing square but actually being rectangular. The four corners slightly protruded, giving the impression of a triangular shape.

Shen Bing observed the cage for a long ti but still couldn't see what was inside the other dark cages.

However, just being here made her feel extrely uncomfortable.

She looked at the lock on the cage, frowning.

The lock had a very antique design, resembling those used during the dieval era in Europe. She couldn't even find where the keyhole was located; it seed impossible to open this lock.

After a mont of panic, Shen Bing began to calm down and thought carefully about her situation. She also checked her clothes and realized she was only wearing her undergarnts. The cold air made her shiver.

"This is an underground cavern, and I was drugged and brought here by Bernard. When did he bring here?"

"And how long have I been here?"

"What ti is it now?"

Shen Bing raised her head to observe the light sources, hoping to judge the ti by their brightness. However, it was of no use; these lights weren't natural but artificial, electric lamps.

Shen Bing frowned again, standing straight and shouting, "Bernard, where are you? Co out now!"

Her voice echoed through the cavern, but once again, there was no response.

The silence made the cavern feel even more desolate and terrifying.

After shouting for a while, Shen Bing felt tired and sat down, resting for a while.

She did not touch the food and water in the cage. Who knew if Bernard had mixed sothing special in them? After consuming it, who knew what would happen?

The most crucial thing was to remain alert and calm to ensure her survival.

"I've been shouting for so long without any response, which ans Bernard isn't here, or he does not have the ti to co here."

"If I can unlock the lock before he arrives, I still have a chance."

Taking a deep breath, Shen Bing began to carefully study the lock on the cage.

As she observed, she recalled any relevant knowledge. Though she had never seen this type of lock before, she had learned so lockpicking skills from Zhang Long during her leisure ti.

Now was the ti she needed those skills the most!

She fell into contemplation.

After studying the lock for a while, she decided to try sothing. She intended to take off her bra and use the steel bar inside it as a makeshift key.

"Little girl, do not waste your effort. You won't be able to open this lock," a feeble voice suddenly sounded from a cage about twenty ters away from her.

Imdiately after, the cage shook, and an elderly man with a head full of white hair appeared near the light source.

He was in his twilight years, with wrinkles deeply engraved on his face, as if they could crush mosquitoes.

His eyes were clouded and devoid of any vitality!

His beard covered his face, and he wore tattered clothes, resembling a wild man.

Moreover, he spoke in English.

Shen Bing was startled upon hearing the voice, but she felt a surge of relief. She asked, "Old man, where is this place? Do you know anything about this lock?"

Having soone around made her feel less panicked.

"This's Bernard's secret hideout," the old man replied from a distance, looking at Shen Bing. "He has built this place over the years to hide his treasures."

"And you're the treasure he's interested in!"

"I advise you not to try to escape. Once he discovers your intentions, he will surely kill you."

"Before you, he has already killed ten won!"
