The Second Prince was so anxious that he scratched his head. He had heard from Feng Bailing about the serious implications of the case, including the possibility that it was related to the Noble Consort Dugu in the palace.

Noble Consort Dugu was the Father Emperor’s favored concubine. If it really concerned her, and the matter could be linked to all the teahouses and tea shops in Chu City, the Second Prince knew he could not take it lightly, so he was cautious.

Manager Qiu had people closely guard the entire process, but an accident still occurred unexpectedly.

"This is not even the strangest part. I’ve had the old coroner check thoroughly; he wasn’t poisoned and there were no other injuries on his body. He just suddenly died from bleeding from all orifices."

The Second Prince pointed towards the prison cell, where no one else was present except for the Feng Bailin couple, the Second Prince, and an old coroner.

Feng Bailing entered the cell, and upon close inspection, she found that Manager Qiu had died from bleeding from all orifices.

However, his skin was all normal.

Just as the Second Prince had ntioned, there were no wounds on his body.

"Currently, there is only one possibility; Manager Qiu might have suffered from so hidden illness that suddenly flared up. However, I am rely a coroner and unfamiliar with hidden illnesses. We can only request the Princess Consort to descend from her high position to personally investigate and see if any clues can be found."

The coroner had worked as a coroner in the Capital Governor’s office for decades and had seen all sorts of cases and corpses, but he had never seen a corpse as strange as this one.

Feng Bailing stepped forward to inspect, and as the Second Prince and the coroner had described, Manager Qiu’s manner of death was indeed strange.

She examined his skin and then checked his pupils.

"Definitely not poisoned."

Feng Bailing touched the limbs of the corpse, and after a mont, she suddenly said.

"There’s sothing wrong with his internal organs."

Feng Bailing’s seventh sense was connected to the dical equipnt in the dical Cabin, enabling her to clearly inspect the inside of Manager Qiu’s corpse.

Although Manager Qiu’s external body was unhard, his insides were riddled with holes, and his organs looked as if they had been gnawed by sothing.

Feng Bailing stared intently at Manager Qiu’s corpse.

"Internal organs are problematic?"

The Second Prince was dumbfounded, and nearby, Dugu Wu slightly furrowed his brow.

"I need to perform an autopsy."

Feng Bailing could see the inside of the corpse and suspected that there was a living creature inside that had caused Manager Qiu’s death.

Upon hearing that Feng Bailing wanted to perform an autopsy, the Second Prince’s face nearly turned green.

Feng Bailing didn’t hesitate and was about to proceed, but Dugu Wu grabbed her hand.

Her hand was clean and fair, not seeming like one that handled a knife.

"You say, I’ll do it."

Dugu Wu said assertively.

Feng Bailing pointed to the area around Manager Qiu’s heart.

"Cut in from here."

As Dugu Wu made a cut, a hissing sound was heard, and the mont the blood splashed out, sothing viciously flew out from Manager Qiu’s corpse.

"Catch it!"

Just as Feng Bailing spoke, that "thing" charged towards her.

Without a wrinkle in his brow, Dugu Wu made a swift cut, and a blood-red worm, as thin as a hair, was chopped into two by Dugu Wu.

After the appearance of that worm, many thin, hair-like worms continued to crawl out from the area around Manager Qiu’s chest.

The quantity was so imnse, it was as if many hairs had grown on Manager Qiu’s chest.

The Second Prince had never seen such a scene before, and imdiately felt nauseous, throwing up his lunch.

"Bring fire imdiately."

Feng Bailing made a decisive decision, these cursed creatures kept appearing one after another; the only solution was to burn them.

After so frantic activity, the bugs were finally cleaned up.

"What on earth are these cursed creatures?"

The Second Prince’s face turned pale, he leaned against the wall, gasping for air.

In the air, the burnt sll of those bugs lingered, very unpleasant.

"Go check if there was anything unusual with the person who brought the food today. I suspect these bugs were brought in by soone in the form of larvae in the food or drinks."

No wonder the Second Prince’s n hadn’t found poison in the food earlier.

A silver needle can test if the food is poisoned, but it cannot check for parasites inside, and so larvae, once they enter the human body and reach body temperature, quickly hatch.

Clearly, these larvae thrived on human organs, and Manager Qiu was killed silently in this manner.

After the Second Prince sent people to investigate, they found that the prison guard who delivered the food at noon had disappeared.

"Who could the other party be? I’ve never seen such bugs in Great Chu."

The Second Prince felt completely unwell. The thought of having ingested these poison larvae in his food terrified him; he feared he might end up like Manager Qiu.

"Manager Qiu was a eunuch, likely soone from the palace."

Dugu Wu frowned.

"I plan to leave Chu City for a few days. Don’t worry, I’ll return before Dongfang Yong’s major wedding."

Feng Bailing calculated due to Nalan De’s issue, Dongfang Yong’s wedding might be delayed a few days.

Considering Manager Qiu’s sudden death, Feng Bailing felt it necessary to leave and quickly find out about Noble Consort Dugu’s background and at least understand the origin of these bugs.

She initially thought that Noble Consort Dugu simply silenced people through murder, but she didn’t expect she also knew how to use such terrifying bugs to kill. If these bugs were used inside the palace, even she would be caught off guard.

Unable to ascertain the identity of the other party, she could only rely on external forces, recalling the Baidi City ntioned previously by Hong Xuan.

The rcenaries might have more inford sources than them, and perhaps she could find out so information through the Soldier Inn there.

"I disagree."

This ti Dugu Wu wasn’t so easy to persuade. He too had seen the severity of these larvae and corpse bugs, and although Feng Bailing was clever, Dugu Wu did not feel at ease letting her leave Chu City alone.

However, at the mont, Dugu Wu himself was also tied up with duties.

The Ministry of Revenue was busy, and the nine countries outside the Ten Countries were restless.

The couple argued incessantly.

But while they were arguing, Feng Wan rushed over.

Feng Wan’s face looked awful as he hurriedly said,

"Prince, Princess Consort, sothing has happened at the Princess’ Mansion; the Princess has suddenly fainted. Lu Yin has already rushed over, but there is no solution."

Hearing this, Feng Bailing’s face changed drastically.

By the ti Feng Bailing rushed back to the Princess’ Mansion, it was already deep into the night.

Lu Yin was sitting by Dongfang Lianhua’s bed, his brows furrowed and his expression grave. Seeing Feng Bailing, he gently shook his head.

Feng Bailing hurried to Dongfang Lianhua’s side, only to see Dongfang Lianhua lying on the bed, her face pale and motionless, her breath very weak.

Seeing Dongfang Lianhua like this, Feng Bailing felt a surge in her brain; she couldn’t believe that in just a short while she had been away, her mother had beco like this.
