Chapter 11 : A Pack of Wolves

Axton accepted the request from Jackal the Hunter despite the latter’s warning on the strength of the Great Wolf and the pack of wild wolves that lurk around.

The idea of being outnumbered was good news to Axton’s ears.

Unlike others, being outnumbered was a favourable situation to be in and Axton, himself, would choose to be in such circumstances over and over again.

Thanks to [Battle God] talent... the more, the rrier.

"I accept."

*Clap*

"One more thing..." Jackal the Hunter said, sounding as if he had forgotten sothing.

Axton raised his eyebrows.

"The ti limit is sixty minutes."

"Huh? An hour?" Axton blurted out. "Why just one hour?"

Jackal chuckled and shook his head.

"That’s just how it is..." he said with a shrug.

Staring at the young player, Jackal was sceptical that Axton would be able to achieve the task.

He was not doubtful that the player might be strong, having seen the type of equipnt in his possession, but Jackal himself knew just how powerful the Great Wolf was.

After all, he fought that beast one on one and took a deadly hit that still hurts even as he was talking to Axton.

The hunter was clearly uneasy that his revenge would not be completed while he lived.

Jackal the Hunter did not have ti left on his side.

No matter how strong and healthy he pretended to be, his injuries in the fight with the Great Wolf had caught up with him.

The healing potions and treatnt could only help a little but the outco was inevitable — his death.

He did not want the player to know that, and instead, he gave him a ti limit to accomplish this quest, trusting in his skill and strength.

Getting the final details of the quest, Axton departed the hunter’s ho.

[Flash Step]

Axton decided to try out the agility-type skill he recently acquired.

In a matter of seconds, he was covering tres worth of distance with a single flash step, leaving a flash of afterimage behind him as he blew past a location.

He was like a ghost dashing in the wind.

[Flash Step] was simply an incredible skill.

After running for a while, following the direction that Jackal the Hunter had given him, Axton soon arrived at his destination.

anwhile, Jackal rested easy on a rocking chair and sighed deeply as he placed a hand on his abdon.

He winced in pain and looked at his palm, only to feel that it was wet with his blood.

"I overexerted myself again," he muttered with a saddened expression.

******

Axton stepped into the forest where he would et the Great Wolf.

In front of him was a pack of wild wolves, just like Jackal had warned him about.

It was as if they were expecting him to appear, each one ready to pounce on the player and have their pound of flesh.

A glance at him and the pack of wolves were all drooling saliva, snarling at the potential food that stood before them.

*Ding*

[Wild Wolf]

Level : 2

Rank : Common

Attack : 13

Defense : 10

HP : 25

Skills : [Wolf Charge] [Fang Attack]

Note : Pack of wild wolves will continue to attack their prey until they kill it.

...

"Pfft!" Axton scoffed see the data prompt that appeared before his eyes.

The pack were not exceptional or as fearso as Jackal the Hunter made their appearance in his head.

Compared to Axton’s base stats at the sa level, he could take them comfortable.

Nevertheless, the pack had the advantage of numbers, but that did not matter to Axton.

*Howl* *Howl*

They started to howl in unison as if making battle cries like barbarian warriors, and in the blink of an eyes, one of them in front sprang forward.

[Wolf Charge]

*Swoosh*

The others followed imdiately after, with their pairs of deadly, golden eyes glued to Axton.

Axton flickered through the forest and they followed suit.

An ordinary player would have had an ocean of cold sweat drenching him by now but Axton was confident in his ability.

’Hmm! They are quite fast,’ Axton thought to himself, quickly equipping his weapon, the Flash Sword.

Axton leaped on to a sturdy, thick low lying branch, making a firm landing before shooting backwards from the hard surface to move back in the opposite direction.

His change of direction surprised the wolves but the canine beasts continued their charge, not relenting.

[Your talent [Battle God] has been activated]

[Enemies detected : 183]

[You have gained 183% in attack stats]

A cocky smirk ford on his face as his grip on the flash sword tightened.

His attack points rose in an instant and Axton swung his Flash Sword in the air, killing the first wild wolf that ca in contact with his blade.

*Slash*

-25 HP!

The wild wolf dropped lifelessly on the forest ground and died.

[Congratulations!]

[You have killed a wild wolf]

[You have gained 1 Exp, 2 copper coins]

*Ding*

[100x Critical Hit has been initiated!]

[You have gained 100 Exp and 200 copper coins!]

Axton was happy beyond words.

*Howl*

The wolves howled in anger, seeing as one of them had been killed.

Seeing how easily the human player had taken down one of theirs, they second-guessed their decision to continue fighting.

*Howl*

They were the sa level with Axton and yet, he beat one of them that easily.

Relying on their number advantage, they charged on regardless.

*Swoosh* *Swoosh*

Axton’s blade cut through the air and flesh several tis.

Even without using any of his skills, blood spurted into the air and soiled several tree barks, leaves and grasses as corpses of wolves strewn the entire place.

"Tch! That’s a lot," Axton muttered while jumping away as he avoided a [Fang Attack] from one of the wolves.

He soon realised that they were simply to many of the wolves to fight at the sa ti.

Using just his [Flash Sword], it was difficult to kill them all quickly.

’I can’t afford to take any hit from them, else I will be killed on the spot.’
