She asked An Ge directly, "Girl, who taught you embroidery?"
Mrs. Huo had a naturally gentle aura that inexplicably made An Ge feel close to her. An Ge quickly beca less reserved and replied,
"I... I don’t know. When I was sixteen, I caught a high fever that damaged my brain, and I don’t rember much from before that. Afterward, my mom went insane, so I don’t have many mories of the past."
At this point, Shen Hongxiu spoke up, "You don’t rember, and your mom went crazy, but what about your dad and the others? Surely they know about your past?"
An Ge shook her head, "My dad forced my mom to divorce him when I was three. Afterward, I went with my mom back to the countryside; I think when I was fifteen, I followed my mom back to [Jingcheng]."
Shen Hongxiu’s gaze turned complicated, "So you basically know nothing about what happened during your youth?"
An Ge nodded and said,
"Pretty much. I only rember things from when I was sixteen on. So, I don’t know who taught embroidery. My dad never cared about ; he probably doesn’t even know I can embroider."
Mrs. Huo asked, "Does your mom know Su embroidery?"
An Ge thought for a mont, then said, "I... I’m not sure. In my mory, I only rember her making a pair of ordinary embroidered shoes."
Mrs. Huo turned her head to look at Shen Hongxiu, "Ah Xiu, when you have ti, go visit her mother for . Maybe her mother really knows Ah Sheng."
Shen Hongxiu replied, "Alright."
An Ge was smart and quickly realized the real reason they were eager to see her.
She asked, "...Are you looking for soone?"
Mrs. Huo didn’t hide it, "We’re looking for a friend who’s been missing for years. Your embroidery skills are quite similar to our friend’s."
An Ge responded with an ’oh’ and didn’t say much more.
After that, she was like a background panel listening to them and Huo Shaoyan talk, mostly about Huo Shaoyan’s upcoming marriage. However, as they talked, disagreents soon arose.
Mrs. Huo thought since An Baoying was carrying Huo Shaoyan’s child, the marriage shouldn’t be delayed. Shen Hongxiu, however, felt An Baoying’s background didn’t match Huo Shaoyan, and since they didn’t have a foundation of feelings, marrying just for the child could spell disaster for Huo Shaoyan’s life happiness.
Although Huo Shaoyan didn’t explicitly state his stance, he didn’t seem in a hurry to marry either.
Mrs. Huo couldn’t quite understand him and asked, "Ah Yan, what’s your own perspective?"
Huo Shaoyan got the urge to smoke. He held a cigarette in his mouth but, considering sothing, ended up not lighting it. He sniffed the cigarette between his fingers and said lazily,
"My child can’t be illegitimate. Technically, I should marry An Baoying." He paused, "But after so interactions, An Baoying isn’t what I want."
At this, Shen Hongxiu’s eyes lit up, looking sowhat gossip-hungry, "Then who do you want?"
For so reason, An Ge found that after Shen Hongxiu asked this, Huo Shaoyan looked at her. Her heart skipped a beat, thumping hard.
But she knew, even if she were rebuilt eight hundred tis, Huo Shaoyan would never like soone like her.
Sure enough, his gaze quickly moved away from her face, and he told Shen Hongxiu, "I once promised soone I’d marry her when she grew up..."
Mrs. Huo and Shen Hongxiu quickly realized who Huo Shaoyan ant.
They almost spoke in chorus, "Are you talking about Aunt Sheeng’s daughter, Xiaoqi?"
Huo Shaoyan didn’t directly answer. Instead, he bent down, grabbed An Ge by the collar, and lifted her, saying, "It’s too late, you all should get so rest early."
Both Mrs. Huo and Shen Hongxiu knew An Ge was pregnant. As won, even though they found unwed pregnancy disgraceful, they respected An Ge’s courage to have the children with an unknown father. They looked at her with so admiration.
Mrs. Huo didn’t try to keep her and said,
"Ah Yan, don’t be too hard on this girl. Everyone has unspeakable hardships, and she’s bearing life within her while also needing to regularly transfuse blood to treat your illness. For that alone, you should treat her kindly."
Huo Shaoyan clicked his tongue but said nothing.
See, he had already seen that this woman’s thods were not simple.
With just a white magnolia handkerchief, she managed to pacify his mother.
An Ge didn’t know what was on Huo Shaoyan’s mind; she was concerned about Shen Hongxiu’s plans to reopen the embroidery room. She was afraid of missing this opportunity to recomnd herself; it would be hard for Shen Hongxiu to accept her later.
Therefore, she addressed Shen Hongxiu at this point, "Second Madam..."
Shen Hongxiu interrupted her, "I will soon divorce Huo Zhendong, and I will have no relationship with the Huo Family. Please call Ms. Shen."
An Ge reorganized her words,
"Ms. Shen, I want to say that I have connections to help you recruit embroidery won to form a team. Can you bring along in the business?"
Shen Hongxiu looked deeply into her eyes, raised her eyebrows, and said, "Business?"
An Ge replied, "Aren’t you going to start a business? You said you want to create your own brand? I feel that besides funding and resources, originality is most important in making a brand; originality is the real productive force, and I can provide such productive force."
To Shen Hongxiu and Huo Shaoyan, her words sounded a bit boastful.
But, An Ge soon backed up her claim with her abilities.
