An Ge’s words instantly provoked Huo Shaoyan. He almost didn’t hesitate as he reached to tear the lining of An Ge’s skirt. But, in the end, the attempt remained unsuccessful. Huo Shaoyan was pulled away at the crucial mont by a phone call.
The call was from An Muxin’s bodyguard, Gu Changfeng.
"President Huo got into trouble, our young lady has been kidnapped," he said.
Since the phone was on speaker, An Ge, who was covered in sweat from Huo Shaoyan’s exertions, naturally heard the conversation. She clearly noticed the warmth draining from Huo Shaoyan, who was panting heavily against her neck, and his entire deanor turning sharp and cold. Quickly, he removed his hands from her waist, pulling himself away from her. He left in such a rush to rescue soone that he didn’t even have ti to help her put on the underwear he had stripped off.
An Ge watched as he grabbed his phone and walked to the door of the private room in just a few steps. Just as he opened the door and was about to leave, she suddenly laughed out loud. Her laughter was exceptionally sarcastic, so much so that Huo Shaoyan’s footsteps halted abruptly.
The light in the private room was dim and unclear, and the woman’s laughing face appeared indifferent in the warm glow. Under his gaze, she tidied her clothes that he had tugged into complete disarray. After placing her clothes back in order, she rose from the sofa and approached him. Drawing near, she looked up at him with a smile and asked, "So, just how sincere are you in wanting to make things right with ?"
Huo Shaoyan lowered his eyes to look into hers, and without hesitation, said, "Very sincere."
An Ge laughed again, "Very sincere? And yet you leave behind?"
Huo Shaoyan lifted his hand to cradle the back of her head, holding it in place as he leaned down for a deep kiss before saying, "She can’t have an incident on my turf."
An Ge pushed him away a bit, her gaze restlessly looking at him for a few seconds before saying, "I had a car accident just a mont ago, and then she gets kidnapped right after. How do you think that coincidence happened?"
Huo Shaoyan replied, "What exactly are you trying to say?"
An Ge said, "Nothing. It’s just that, I feel, you haven’t changed at all from five years ago. No matter the ti, I’m not the person you hold most dearly."
Huo Shaoyan wanted to say sothing, but gunshots rang out from the other end of the phone. His throat bobbed slightly as he said to An Ge, "You heard it too; the situation there isn’t good."
With that, he turned to leave, but An Ge grabbed his arm.
Huo Shaoyan frowned at her, appearing displeased.
An Ge looked at his indecipherable face and said, "I don’t want you to leave to find her. You have to choose between her and ." She paused, "If you leave for her, we won’t even have a chance to hook up anymore."
After speaking, An Ge released Huo Shaoyan’s arm. She turned towards the sofa to grab her bag, but before she could even turn around, Huo Shaoyan had already slamd the door and left. The door slam wasn’t loud, but it was clear that he’d left in a hurry.
Today, there was no wind, and the weather was so stifling hot it seed it might rain heavily. An Ge stepped outside, and the overwhelming heat instantly engulfed her, making her chest feel oppressively uncomfortable. She looked pale; after getting in the car, her hair was so soaked with sweat it stuck to her.
Lu Huai’an hadn’t left. He glanced at her from the driver’s seat, his voice heavy with sarcasm, "Looking that pale?"
An Ge glanced at Huo Chenghuan, who was still fast asleep, then t Lu Huai’an’s gaze and said, "An Muxin was kidnapped. I asked him to choose between and An Muxin, and he didn’t hesitate to leave behind."
She paused to wet her lips, thinking for a mont before continuing, "I thought, after he learned the truth from back then, his deep guilt might make him see differently now. Turns out I was just too self-absorbed. Now, I suddenly feel a bit worried."
Lu Huai’an asked, "Worried about what?"
It started to rain. The heavy rainfall of early sumr began suddenly and fiercely. An Ge watched as the rain quickly obliterated the view outside the car window, the raindrops pounding against the glass, making the world outside appear blurred and ssy.
"I’m not sure about him anymore. I can’t be sure he would willingly risk his life to donate part of his liver to save Huanhuan."
An Ge’s voice was sowhat despondent, even dejected, "From what I know, he’s allergic to anesthesia. When he was seventeen or eighteen, he risked his life to donate part of his liver to save Qin Xiaoqi. That liver surgery almost killed him on the operating table. That’s why I’m not sure."
Lu Huai’an started the car engine, his voice steady and unvarying, "Didn’t Huo Qingzhou say that the KS biological research project recently started is very effective at counteracting the cancer cells in Huanhuan’s body?"
An Ge’s voice sounded tired. "The KS project has only just begun. Although the dical theory is very successful, it hasn’t been tested clinically yet. I can’t risk Huanhuan’s life to try this drug. The best treatnt thod is for Huo Shaoyan to donate part of his liver to save her."
Lu Huai’an raised his eyebrows, saying, "You said it yourself, you’re not sure about him now. At most, you’re soone special on his mind. He feels a certain guilt towards you, but it’s not enough for him to risk his life to save Huanhuan..."
An Ge’s voice grew agitated, cutting Lu Huai’an off, "At most, I’ll let him know the truth. Tell him that Huanhuan is his biological daughter. I don’t believe he wouldn’t save his own daughter."
"Save her, he definitely will. But at that point, it will be impossible for you to walk away unscathed."
Lu Huai’an offered an objective analysis, "If the sa thing happened to , regardless of whether I love the woman or not, I could never let her take away my child. That’s human nature."
An Ge was silent for a while before speaking again, "Things can always change. If I could escape with the child once, I can do it again. Besides, tis have changed. It’s not so easy for him to successfully take the child from now."
Lu Huai’an nodded approvingly. "I agree with that."
An Ge asked, "Do you think the car accident really has sothing to do with An Muxin?"
Lu Huai’an thought about it briefly and gave an objective conclusion, "Gu Changfeng is An Muxin’s personal bodyguard. He appeared at the scene of your car accident; ninety percent of this was instigated by An Muxin."
He paused, "But Gu Changfeng is known for his ticulous thods. He probably covered his tracks well, so it’s unlikely we can get to the bottom of it."
An Ge acknowledged with a hum and added, "She caused to have a car accident, and then she gets kidnapped imdiately after. Do you think there’s any intrigue in this?"
Lu Huai’an analyzed thodically, "There are two possibilities. Either An Muxin, believing her status as Mrs. Huo was threatened, orchestrated the kidnapping out of jealousy. Or she really was kidnapped. There’s been significant political turmoil in the Imperial City recently. Commander An is the target. It’s not impossible soone would target An Muxin to shake the An Family’s confidence."
In truth, An Muxin’s kidnapping wasn’t about either scenario Lu Huai’an ntioned. She was truly kidnapped, but her kidnappers only wanted to humiliate and teach her a lesson—nothing more.
Huo Shaoyan found her at a landfill site in the suburbs.
By then, the storm had subsided, and An Muxin lay filthy, bound hand and foot, in a foul-slling pile of garbage. Her mouth was sealed with black tape, allowing her to only make pained whimpers.
Upon seeing Huo Shaoyan, a glimr of hope rekindled in her eyes.
Huo Shaoyan, disgusted by her stench, didn’t approach her. In contrast, her bodyguard, Gu Changfeng, emotionlessly lifted her from the garbage.
As soon as the tape was ripped from An Muxin’s mouth, she burst into tears and accused Huo Shaoyan, "The people who kidnapped said An Ge ordered them to do it..."
Huo Shaoyan’s brow furrowed as he coldly interrupted her, "Do you have any proof?"
An Muxin slled so bad that even she couldn’t stand it. The kidnapper, covered head to toe, had not only tied her up but had also urinated on her. Moreover, he had forced her head down, making her drink filthy water filled with impurities...
Desperately wanting to clean herself, she said, "Of course, I have proof. But I want to shower now, I need to shower..."
Her emotions were volatile, and with a furious tone, she told Huo Shaoyan, "Huo Shaoyan, I won’t let this go easily. You must give an explanation. Otherwise, I’ll tell my grandfather and let him handle the justice. Let’s see if you could break off this engagent when I say it stays."
Huo Shaoyan’s expression darkened, "The engagent has already been broken off, and The An’s have agreed."
