An Ge gave Young Master Huo an address, and then he abruptly ended the call.
anwhile, An Mingzhu spoke up, "Ms. An, my son was just joking with you..."
An Ge smiled and interrupted her,
"Mrs. Lu, there are surveillance caras on the cruise, and everything that happened is crystal clear. I’m a pregnant woman, within the public’s eyes I’m part of a vulnerable group, so if the Lu Family clings to this issue and it escalates online, it wouldn’t look good for Chairman Lu or the Lu Family. The Lu Family has been in politics for generations, nothing like embezzlent or complicated private lives ever occurred. If Chairman Lu gets labeled as intending to assault a pregnant woman, the Lu Family would be ridiculed by the whole community, wouldn’t they? Political circles are tricky, scandals like these are feared the most; losing a position is minor, but losing one’s life would be too late."
At these words, An Mingzhu was furious. "Are you threatening ?"
An Ge candidly said,
"I’m just presenting an objective analysis. I am now with Huo Shaoyan, and my life is tied to his survival; he won’t ignore this matter. If the Lu family keeps pressuring , I think Young Master Huo would take the truth online, letting public opinion pressure the Lu Family. By then, if you want to make peace, it will be too late, don’t you think?"
An Mingzhu was montarily at a loss for words, her face flushed with anger, and she slamd the table in fury.
After a mont, she turned to Fu Rou angrily, "I ca because of you, and this is how you apologize?"
Fu Rou, embarrassed by her outburst, took a deep breath before speaking,
"Mingzhu, I asked you here mainly to resolve our conflict, not to escalate it. Both the Huo and Lu families are prominent families; we shouldn’t ruin our harmony over a small issue like this."
An Mingzhu snorted coldly and said, "If it wasn’t for Ah Sheng, do you think I’d even look at you?"
ntioning Qin Huaisheng, An Mingzhu couldn’t help but let out a sigh, her expression dimd, and she asked Fu Rou,
"Didn’t you say you’ve been investigating Ah Sheng’s whereabouts? Any results?"
At this, Fu Rou shared the recent clues she had found with An Mingzhu.
After listening, An Mingzhu turned her gaze to An Ge’s face and said, "You’re saying this girl’s embroidery skills are similar to Ah Sheng’s?"
Fu Rou said, "Both Hong Xiu and I have confird it; her embroidery technique is almost identical to Ah Sheng’s, as if Ah Sheng has co back."
These words led An Mingzhu to scrutinize An Ge closely.
For reasons unknown, the more she looked into An Ge’s beautiful eyes, the more she felt a sense of familiarity.
Her anger dissipated considerably, and she motioned An Ge closer, "Co a little closer, let take a look at you."
An Ge stepped a few inches closer to her.
An Mingzhu examined her for a few seconds and said,
"So, you forgot your past mories and who taught you embroidery because of a high fever?"
An Ge nodded, "Sothing like that."
An Mingzhu pondered for a few seconds before saying,
"Your mother is currently ntally unstable, so it’s hard to verify if your teacher is the person we’re looking for. I ask you, do you think there’s anyone else who might have seen your teacher?"
An Ge thought for a while and said,
"Before my mom completely lost her mind, she ntioned that my teacher was very low-key, hardly interacting with anyone except and her."
An Mingzhu’s eyes darkened for a few seconds. She pulled out a business card and handed it to An Ge, saying,
"If you rember anything, call ."
An Ge accepted the business card from her hand, then asked, "And what about Chairman Lu’s... matter?"
An Mingzhu wasn’t unreasonable. She said,
"That surveillance video, Young Master Huo already showed it to and my father-in-law. Indeed, it was our Lu Huai’an who was at fault first, but you were too heavy-handed."
An Ge said, "That’s why I ca to apologize."
An Mingzhu sighed, "I won’t pursue this matter before Lu Huai’an is discharged safely."
As they spoke, they received a call from the hospital saying Lu Huai’an had regained consciousness, and An Mingzhu quickly excused herself and left.
After she left, An Ge also bid farewell to Fu Rou and others.
Waiting outside, An Baoying was shocked to see An Ge erge from the private room unscathed.
She asked, incredulously, "The matter... it’s resolved just like that?"
An Ge sneered, "What? Are you disappointed?"
An Baoying replied, "..."
After leaving the private room, An Ge went to find Doctor Zhou, her mother’s primary physician.
"Doctor Zhou, is my mother’s condition stable inside?"
Doctor Zhou said, "She’s still in the rejection phase; we need to keep observing her, it’s too early to make definite conclusions."
After chatting with Doctor Zhou, An Ge ran into a woman while at the hospital entrance.
That woman was Wen Qing, Tang Jiuze’s mother. She used to work as a hostess in night clubs, and caught the attention of the Tang Family’s elder son, eventually becoming pregnant with Tang Jiuze.
Before Tang Jiuze was recognized by his family, Wen Qing lived with them in their hotown in Lin’an City.
Although Tang Jiuze was now the head of the Tang Family, Wen Qing’s background was still a source of disgrace for him, so he only bought her a property outside, rarely letting her return to the Tang Family’s old residence.
Wen Qing was quite surprised to run into An Ge at the hospital.
Her son was now the CEO of the Tang Empire, and her daughter-in-law was the eldest daughter of the Jiang Family. She feared An Ge might ruin her son’s future.
Thus, she showed a sour expression toward An Ge,
"An Ge, I’ve heard from my daughter-in-law that you are restless, and have started reaching out to my son shortly after being released. Is this true?"
An Ge answered indirectly, "I’m asking you sothing. Have you ever t the person who taught embroidery?"
Wen Qing sneered, "Don’t ntion that half-human, half-ghost lunatic to . Her face was burned beyond recognition; just thinking about it gives chills."
An Ge asked, "Do you know what her na was?"
Wen Qing answered, "How would I know? I only saw her once when I helped your mother dress her undergarnts when she died."
After speaking, Wen Qing noticed Jiang Qingyi walking out from the hospital, imdiately changing her face into a flattering smile as she rushed over,
"Yiyi, I heard from Ah Ze that you’ve been getting morning sickness a lot recently. Are you pregnant?"
Jiang Qingyi despised her lowly background, and ignored her.
She walked directly up to An Ge, "What are you doing here?"
An Ge said, "My mom’s in the hospital here."
Jiang Qingyi didn’t respond further, walking away with a frosty expression.
Following closely behind, Wen Qing hurried after her.
An Ge stayed still for a mont until Huo Shaoyan’s call ca in again.
Her powerful benefactor was not soone she could afford to offend.
She imdiately picked up the call from Huo Shaoyan. "Hello?"
"Across the street."
An Ge looked up across the street, spotting a low-profile black Ghost parked opposite.
From a distance, her gaze t with the man who rolled down the driver’s seat window.
In early November at dusk, the orange sunset glazed the street with a layer of lingering gold glow, and the man sitting in the driver’s seat had half of his face mingled with the light, ethereal and surreal.
An Ge walked over, her mind racing to find an explanation for her escape from Fengqiao Villa that afternoon, hoping it wouldn’t lead to the man’s reprimand.
Distracted, as she crossed the road, if not for a sudden strong force that grabbed her, she might have been hit by a speeding truck.
Startled, she found herself falling into the man’s embrace along with that force.
She inhaled the pleasant, brisk scent from the man, intoxicatingly overbearing!
An Ge thought so.
His chest rose and fell violently; as she raised her eyes to him, he roared furiously, "Do you walk without using your brain?"
After his outburst, An Ge calmly looked at him and said, "President Huo, don’t shout so loudly, you scared ."
