The police officers quickly escorted the students back to school, but Olive, Mark, and Aiden insisted on accompanying them to the George mansion, along with Mr. Philip which the police agreed to.
The police cars raced to the George mansion and ca to a stop at the entrance, allowing everyone to disembark and make their way inside.
Upon entering the mansion, they were greeted by Clara, who was sitting on the sofa. She stood up as soon as she saw the police officers.
"Good afternoon, officers. How can I help you?" Clara asked, raising her eyebrows in curiosity. "What’s going on, Mark? Aiden?" she added, but received no response, only heavy sighs.
"Good afternoon, Miss George. Is Lucas here?" one of the officers inquired.
"And why are you looking for my brother? What’s going on, Mr. Philip? Did Lucas do sothing?" Clara asked, looking concerned.
"Actually, Clara, we found Henry’s body at the abandoned house that belongs to the George family. Lucas is the main suspect because many of his belongings were found there." Mr. Philip explained.
"What?! Are you insinuating that my brother is responsible for the murder just because you found a body and his belongings at the scene? These accusations are baseless and absurd." Clara exclaid.
"And Mr. Philip, I can’t believe you’re siding with them and considering Lucas a suspect just because his belongings were found in the abandoned house. We’ve known each other for years, but you’re acting like a stranger. Our personal differences shouldn’t cloud your judgnt of my brother." She continued.
"No, Miss Clara. Your brother is a person of interest, not a criminal until proven otherwise. That’s why he needs to co to the station for questioning, along with the rest of the George family." The officer explained calmly. "It’s in everyone’s best interest to cooperate."
"Enough with this nonsense. My brother is innocent, and Lucas isn’t even here. Mark, Aiden, aren’t you his closest friends? Where did Lucas say he was going?" Clara demanded, her frustration evident.
"He didn’t tell us Clara. We haven’t seen him till the beginning of the search." Aiden replied with seriousness laced in his tone.
"I recall him ntioning that you urgently needed him to co ho." Olive interjected bluntly, with Mark trying to intervene but failing to stop her.
The three didn’t agree on saying what Olive said but maybe she knows what she was doing hence he decided to keep calm.
"And who are you to make such claims?" Clara’s voice was filled with anger. "This is all nonsense."
"I’m Arthur Williams. Lucas’ friend." Olive introduced.
"And when did Lucas tell you that nonsense? I haven’t even seen my brother since I returned to this country." Clara shouted, her eyes red with anger. "Fine! I asked him to et at the airport, but he didn’t show up." She added with a serious tone.
"I know about that but you also sent him a text ssage asking him to et you urgently at ho. He showed ." Olive insisted, her words only adding to Clara’s frustration.
"What is this guy talking about?" Clara yelled, but soon cald down. "Could my brother be in trouble? My phone was off, and I just charged it. But there’s no record of ssaging Lucas to et , so what are you saying?"
"Calm down, Clara. I’m sure Lucas just needed so ti alone. I’ve been trying to call him, but his phone is off." Aiden interjected with a serious tone.
"Could he have run away because of the cri he committed? The pieces are starting to fit, making Lucas a suspect." Mr. Philip suggested, but quickly stopped as Clara, Mark, Aiden, and Olive glared at him.
"We have a search warrant to go through this place, and we ask for your cooperation." A police officer stated with a stern expression which only infuriated Clara.
"Let them search, Clara. We trust that Lucas is not capable of harming anyone." Mark reassured, and Clara’s expression softened.
"Fine! You can proceed," she declared, and the police officers promptly began searching the entire house.
They ticulously combed through the living room, kitchen, Lucas’s room, and every other room in the house. After an exhaustive search, they concluded that Lucas was not present in the house.
"Are you satisfied now?" Clara demanded, her arms folded across her chest as she glared at the police officers.
"You must accompany us to the police station. As I ntioned earlier, every mber of the George family must be questioned. Just because we found Lucas’s belongings and he frequents the abandoned house does not automatically make him a suspect in Henry’s murder. We will interrogate everyone until the true culprit is identified," one of the officers stated firmly.
Clara was incensed. "Why do I have to co to the police station? I just returned to the country, and shouldn’t you be more concerned about finding my brother? Arthur claid he saw a text ssage on my brother’s phone instructing him to co ho urgently, which I did not send. What if my brother has been kidnapped or hard by soone?"
"We will locate your brother, but you still need to accompany us to the station. We have already sent an invitation to Mr. and Mrs. George, indicating that we will question every family mber. This is a serious matter, and we are determined to uncover the truth," the officer insisted.
Mr. Philip’s footsteps echoed down the stairs, all eyes turned towards him. His previously calm deanor had been replaced by a look of anger.
"I must return to school, officers, to reassure the students. Please do your job. We need to apprehend Henry’s killer and locate Lucas," Mr. Philip stated with a forced smile before exiting the George mansion, leaving the police officers to continue their investigation.
’He’s returning to Lucas’ location. His expression indicates that he didn’t find Henry’s phone, so he’s going back to him and may harm him this ti if he hasn’t already.’ Olive thought to herself, looking worried.
"We’re going back to school too, officers. We’ll keep searching for our friend," Olive said as she pulled Aiden and Mark along with her.
"I want to search for my brother as well," Clara said, starting to move forward but was imdiately stopped by the police officers. "Get away from ." She yelled.
"Just follow them to the station. We’ll co see you soon," Mark reassured before leaving the mansion.
