Jessica, who had managed to hide her drugs just in ti, sat across from detective Jas, her expression calm.
"So, Jessica," the detective Jas began, narrowing her eyes. "Can you tell what you were doing tonight?"
Jessica responded innocently, "I was just hosting a party at my mom’s club. I didn’t see anything unusual."
Detective Jas raised an eyebrow. "And you’re sure you didn’t notice anything strange about Michael’s behavior tonight?"
Jessica shook her head. "No, nothing. He seed fine to . Besides, I’m not even close to him."
Detective Jas, who had been taking notes, didn’t miss a beat. "You were at the cri scene, though. What happened between Henry, Rachael, and Michael?"
"I don’t know much," Jessica said, sticking to the plan. "By the ti I got there, they were already fighting. Michael slipped in the struggle, and that’s what caused his death."
Detective Jas raised an eyebrow. "You all keep ntioning he slipped. Was there oil or water on the floor?"
Jessica’s expression hardened as she responded, "Must there be oil or water for soone to have an accident. They were all fighting afterall?"
Detective Jas paused as he gaze at Jessica. "He wasn’t pushed?!"
"No!"
Detective Jas heaved a heavy sigh, then nodded. "Alright, Jessica. Thanks for your ti." He gestured for her to be led out.
As the individual interviews continued, the detectives began piecing together the events of the night, looking for inconsistencies. But the students were sticking to their stories.
Clara as well as two other teachers have arrived at the police station since waiting for the students to be realeased so as to be taken ho.
Eventually, Detective Jas gathered the group. "Alright, students. Your school van is waiting outside. We won’t keep you in cells, but you’ll need to report to the station whenever we require your presence." He sighed heavily, his gaze lingering on each of them.
The students nodded silently, too tense to speak.
"Also," Detective Jas added, his gaze fixed on Jessica, "don’t return to the cri scene. The club will be shut down until the investigation is complete, and your mother’s business will be on hold until we get to the truth."
Jessica exhaled sharply, nodding. She knew she had no choice but to comply.
"Alright thank you so much detective! Clara said as she exchanged handshake with detective Jas before making her way out of the station."
As they left the station, Rachael turned to Henry and whispered, "Do you think they believed us?"
Henry nodded, trying to appear confident. "I think so. We stuck to the story, and they didn’t seem suspicious."
But as they walked away, Detective Jas watched them from the window, his eyes narrowing. He wasn’t convinced and was determined to uncover the truth.
They all soon boarded a white van which was waiting for them and soon drove out of the station into the night street.
---
The white van finally pulled up at Belmont High School and the students got off silently, their minds racing with the events of the night.
"Let’s talk tomorrow at the assembly," Clara said with a heavy sigh. She wasn’t ready to even start questioning the students as she was boiling inside"But for now, get so rest." She added trying to sound calm.
The students nodded and began dispersing to their respective dorms, but Olive, Jessica, Lucas, Rachael, Henry, and the rest of the group headed straight to the the 3RM special room.
They collapsed onto the sofa, a heavy silence settling over them as they processed everything that had happened.
Jessica was the first to speak, breaking the tension. "My mom is going to kill ," she groaned, rubbing her forehead. "I don’t even know if I managed to hide all the drugs. I just hope the police don’t find anything. And why the hell did soone have to die at my mom’s club? You could have picked sowhere else!"
Peace, her nerves frayed, snapped back. "Why the hell does it matter where it happened? Michael’s dead, and we’re in this ss together, whether you like it or not!"
"Calm down, both of you," Olive interjected, her gaze fixed on Rachael and Henry. "But seriously, what really happened? You guys aren’t telling us the full story. How exactly did Michael slip and fall?"
Rachael and Henry exchanged a glance but said nothing, their heads down.
"We stuck to the story you gave us," Lucas added, leaning forward. "But we deserve to know the truth. We’re all in this together now. No more secrets."
Rachael took a deep breath before she spoke. "I was the one who killed Michael," she whispered, her voice barely audible. The room went deathly quiet, and everyone stared at her in disbelief. "I hit him over the head with a vase. That’s what really happened."
The tension in the room beca palpable as the others processed her words.
"What?!" Peace’s eyes widened in shock. "Why did you kill him?"
"She didn’t kill him," Henry cut in, his voice stern. "It was self-defense. Michael was out of control. He could’ve killed both of us."
"Self-defense?" Peace echoed, her tone incredulous. "What could you have done to make Michael want to kill you?"
Rachael wiped away the tears that had started to fall. "He... he caught Henry in my room."
Anabella, who had been silent until now, let out a harsh laugh. "You killed him over this loser? What the hell is wrong with you?"
"Shut up, Anabella!" Rachael shot back, her voice shaking with anger. "You don’t know anything."
"Oh, really?" Anabella stood, fury flashing in her eyes. "Do you think I would’ve gone along with the plan if I knew you killed Michael over this?" She pointed at Henry, her voice dripping with disdain. "What were you doing when he caught you? Were you screwing him? Is that it? You’ve always been a crazy slut, Rachael!"
"Shut up, Anabella!" Henry barked, his face flushed with rage. "You have no idea what Rachael’s been going through. Michael was abusing her. You didn’t notice a damn thing, and now you’re judging her?"
"Abusing her?" Anabella scoffed. "Michael loved her! She’s the one who was never satisfied. And you—" she turned to Henry, her voice dripping with contempt, "you’re the one who ca between them. What did you think would happen?"
"Michael didn’t love her," Peace interjected softly, tears in her eyes. "He was controlling her. Beating her. I tried to get her to leave him, but she wouldn’t listen. I stopped pushing after a while, but I told you, Anabella. I told you Rachael was suffering, and you didn’t care and never believed . You were too obsessed with Lucas to notice."
Anabella’s smirk faltered. "Beating her? That can’t be true..." But still Racheal is a slut. I’m sure Micheal resulted to beating her because of what she’s always doing."
"Just shut up Anabella! ," Peace said, her voice gaining strength. "You have no right to bla anyone here. You’ve also been having sex with another person apart from Lucas afterall so stop the pretense of being a saint because you’re not."
The room fell into a heavy silence as the group sat with the truth laid bare, the weight of the night pressing down on them like a storm cloud waiting to break.
