"Who is it?" asked the eldest daughter-in-law out of habit as she made her way to the door, prompted by the mother-in-law.

"Auntie, it’s , Qin Shu’s mother," Mrs. Li said with a smile, carrying a basket at the door.

"Qin Shu?" Hearing these two words, the initially seated Granny Sun quickly stood up, a smile appearing as she walked toward the door.

Finally, soone important ca.

"Quick, open the door, open the door," she urged the daughter-in-law at the entrance as she walked, revealing the matchmaker’s standard eight-tooth smile when she saw the person outside, warmly welcoming them in.

"Ah, it’s Qin Shu’s mother, welco, welco, co on in."

"Aunt Sun, I’m sorry for the sudden visit, I hope you won’t be upset!" Mrs. Li also wore a full smile, speaking with a mix of anxiety and embarrassnt.

"What are you talking about, why would I be upset? I love having people around, it’s lively and makes happy to have soone to chat with. Quickly, quickly, don’t just stand there, sit down and rest a bit," she said, then glanced at her eldest daughter-in-law, "Eldest daughter-in-law, serve so tea."

"Alright," the eldest daughter-in-law nodded, seeing her mother-in-law’s attitude, her face lit up with a smile, and she turned into the kitchen.

It seed like Qin Shu was one of the few young n Granny Sun had a good impression of; after all, she had hardly boiled water these days. Zhang’s wife was also glad to offer Mrs. Qin Shu a friendly face.

"No need, no need," Mrs. Li felt truly flattered and waved her hand quickly.

Recently, many had been chased away by Granny Sun the matchmaker, not expecting she could have a sip of water, but having sothing to ask of others, she didn’t dare to actually drink.

"Water isn’t valuable now, no need to be polite," Granny Sun took the opportunity to lead her to sit on a low stool in the courtyard.

Hearing this, Mrs. Li didn’t stand on ceremony and sat down, promptly lifting the basket she held.

"Auntie, these are just so ho-grown things, please don’t dislike them." Saying this, she uncovered vegetables and revealed eggs and two salted fish below, each seed a couple of pounds heavy, which was quite a gift even before the disaster.

"Why did you bring gifts? I’m already happy to have you chat with , really, take them back, take them back," Granny Sun said politely.

"It’s all ho-grown, nothing special, auntie, please don’t stand on ceremony with . Besides, things brought can’t be taken back, please give the honor and accept them," Mrs. Li said with a smile, placing the basket beside the table.

Taking them back was not an option; she was here for her son. Whatever happens, Granny Sun the matchmaker must accept them.

To be honest, upon hearing her son wanted her to go to the village chief’s house to propose, she was stunned for quite a while, hardly recovering.

Who doesn’t know how outstanding the village chief’s granddaughter is? Sotis, she fantasized that it would be wonderful if Jin’er could be her daughter-in-law.

She’s beautiful, talented, capable, and the family conditions are great. Such a daughter-in-law is hard to find even with a lantern. She naturally hopes her son could find a good girl like her.

But her own family conditions were plain; though they have no lack of house or food, her son is still a scholar, a student, and might pass the official exams soday to beco a scholar. But for now, it ans nothing; besides the scholar title, there are many others like them, and plenty are better off than them, so she truly did not dare to have such lofty hopes.

Unexpectedly, her son was actually interested in Jin’er. No wonder he kept putting off discussing life matters in recent months, saying he didn’t want to consider it at the mont. Turns out, he had soone in mind.

After snapping out of it, she had a serious talk with her second son and learned he had made a well-considered decision and just wanted to seize this chance.

It wasn’t that her son wasn’t good enough but that Jin’er is too outstanding, with such good conditions, she feared if they weren’t interested in her son, the child might overthink, hence, understanding was key.

So, she rummaged quickly through the family’s treasures before making her way swiftly to Granny Sun the matchmaker’s house.

Since her son likes her, they, as elders, are fond of her too and naturally should support wholeheartedly.

Granny Sun also exchanged pleasantries; just then, the daughter-in-law ca over with tea, which Granny Sun handed to Mrs. Qin Shu.

"Have so water, have so water."

"Thank you, Auntie," Mrs. Li held the cup, taking a small sip.

"Mrs. Qin Shu... you’re here today about the village chief’s granddaughter, aren’t you..." Seeing Mrs. Li put down the cup, Granny Sun didn’t waste words and cut to the chase.

She had been idle for days and every thought of speaking was a chore.

Mrs. Li hurriedly nodded, "Auntie, to be honest, I really ca here today for this matter. I’m not sure if you know about my eldest son..."

"How could I not know your son, Mr. Qin Shu, he’s a scholar, I hear his knowledge surpasses even the village chief’s two sons. Mrs. Qin Shu, your good fortune lies ahead."

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Li hurriedly waved her hand, but these words evidently made her much more relaxed, her face glowing with more smiles, "No way, no comparison with the village chief’s two sons, not even an official, just a novice in literature, Auntie is exaggerated in praise."

"You can’t say that, I see your eldest son is good, not just handso but knowledgeable and determined. He is even heard to practice martial arts daily, he’ll thrive in the future."

"The young n of our village can all endure hardship, but thanks to Auntie’s kind words, as a mother I also hope he turns out well in the future," Mrs. Li didn’t downplay this ti; doing so more might seem boastful.

"Since Auntie feels my son is decent, I’ll boldly ask if Auntie thinks there’s hope for if I want to propose marriage for my son with the village chief’s family?"

Mrs. Li felt quite anxious deep down, of course her son is good, but in the face of the village chief’s family, she lacked confidence.

Seeing Mrs. Li’s slightly anxious gaze, Granny Sun smiled and patted her hand.

"Why not, I see Qin Shu is a good kid, though you know such matters aren’t up to us adults, it all depends on the children’s chemistry."

"I understand, I understand, as a mother, I’m not demanding, it’s just about whether there’s a connection between them," Mrs. Li laughed, as long as Granny Sun didn’t outright refuse, it’s good. All in all, she’s giving her son a chance of hope.

Since her son likes soone, how will he know the outco without trying?

Maybe... maybe the two young ones will take a liking to each other!

Mrs. Li truly likes Jin’er, not because she’s the village chief’s granddaughter, but because she genuinely thinks the girl is great.

Granny Sun also laughed, "Alright then, I’ll take a trip to the village chief’s place, though I can’t guarantee the outco, any good news I hear will be shared imdiately. But..." seeing Mrs. Li tense again, Granny Sun quickly said, "Don’t worry, but the matchmaker won’t lie, we might have to wait, as a few nice young n are also waiting for answers."

Mrs. Li exhaled, "No problem, no problem, I understand, a good girl draws suitors from all sides."

Granny Sun: "That’s exactly the case..."

Just as she was speaking, the door of Granny Sun’s house was once again knocked, accompanied by courteous greeting voices. The eldest daughter-in-law inside quickly ca out upon hearing the commotion.
