No matter the reason, if Mrs. Zhao wants to annoy soone, she has to first see if the wife of the village chief agrees.

"Zzzla"

The door was suddenly flung open, and Mrs. Hua’s sharp gaze shot directly at Mrs. Zhao, who was sitting at the door patting her legs and howling.

"Mrs. Zhao, what are you howling for at my doorstep so early in the morning? Have you lived so long for nothing, not understanding even the basic principles of conduct? No wonder your family’s eldest got beaten up. With a senseless mother like you offending others, it’s not surprising he got beaten up behind your back."

With a sarcastic smile on her lips, Mrs. Hua launched a verbal attack.

"Mrs. Liu, you..." Old Mrs. Zhao was so angry she was nearly steaming from her seven orifices.

"Hua Liu, are you just going to let your wife make a scene in front of soone else’s house like this? Is this the attitude for resolving an issue? Or is it just to provoke? I usually thought you were a reasonable person, didn’t expect you to join in such nonsense."

Mrs. Hua didn’t even give Mrs. Zhao a chance to speak, rudely interrupting her and shifting the focus to Hua Liu, who was standing behind his wife.

"Mrs. Liu, you better not accuse falsely, what has this got to do with my husband?"

Watching Mrs. Hua target her husband, Mrs. Zhao suddenly stood up from the ground.

"If you have sothing to say, say it directly. If you’re not trying to provoke, why are you howling at soone’s doorstep so early? Who asks for help like this?"

"I...," Mrs. Zhao’s eyes darted about guiltily, "I... I’m just anxious, didn’t hold back for a mont. Why, my son got beaten and I’m sad yet not allowed to cry? Even the city’s county magistrate doesn’t have such rules. Just because you’re the village chief’s wife doesn’t an you can be so overbearing."

The more Mrs. Zhao talked, the more justified she felt, imdiately standing her ground and glaring at Mrs. Hua defiantly.

"Mrs. Zhao..."

Just as Mrs. Hua was about to unleash her fury, a voice filled with both age and authority resonated from the courtyard.

"Who are you calling overbearing?" Hua Old Man glared at Mrs. Zhao with eyes filled with a piercing intensity; after being married for several decades, he would never have spoken harshly to his wife, let alone allow others to do so.

Hua Old Man’s eyes flashed coldly as he stared at Hua Liu, who let his wife charge ahead.

"Hua Liu, are you still a man? Do you just let your wife cause a commotion like this?"

The village chief’s threatening gaze made Hua Liu’s heart tremble as he awkwardly stepped forward, "Village chief, my wife didn’t an it like that, she just speaks without thinking. Please don’t take it to heart."

"Since you know she speaks without thinking, as the man you have to watch over her. Do you think I, as the village chief, am too lenient? Coming to my ho for trouble early in the morning? Causing a scene like this might pass in Hua Village, but do you think anyone outside would indulge you? Aren’t you afraid I’ll enforce village rules for such inappropriate behavior?"

Hua Old Man looked coldly at the old couple at the door, making both Hua Liu and his wife too afraid to et his gaze, taking a guilty step back.

"Village chief... please stand up for us!" Despite being afraid, Old Mrs. Zhao was famously stubborn; since she had co, how could she leave so easily, and began patting her legs and howling again.

"Mrs. Zhao, if you can’t speak properly, don’t bla for invoking village rules," Hua Old Man’s eyes turned cold as he looked at Mrs. Zhao, his displeasure evident.

This glare stopped Mrs. Zhao’s dry howling in its tracks like a chick with its neck squeezed, making her involuntarily lower her head in intimidation.

Hua Old Man, not bothering to look at Mrs. Zhao again, turned to Hua Liu, "Speak, what’s the matter?"

Hua Liu glanced at Mrs. Zhao, prompting her sharp voice to rise again, making Hua Old Man frown deeply.

"Village chief, you must stand up for our family! My son was beaten up last night for no reason. Such a thing happening in our Hua Village, as the village chief, you can’t ignore it..."

Mrs. Zhao pointed with tears and snot at Hua Xiaodan, who was covering his face with his hand in embarrassnt but couldn’t help crying out in pain.

Hua Old Man then glanced at Hua Xiaodan, frowning as he looked at Hua Liu, "With your eldest son so badly injured, shouldn’t you take him to see a doctor imdiately?"

The villagers watching nodded in agreent, as Hua Xiaodan’s colorful face was a ss, completely swollen beyond recognition, unable even to see his eyes, unable to stand steadily despite being supported by his wife, crying out in pain from ti to ti.

Everyone exchanged glances in silence, thinking the eldest son was really not liked by the old couple!

Nothing like a parent who cared for their child.

"Hua Liu, what use is it coming to the village chief when your son is beaten? Taking him for treatnt is the priority," Old ng in the crowd said.

"Yes, Old ng is right, look at how much your son is in pain, Hua Liu, can you really bear to delay here? If sothing happens, you’ll regret it," suggested Hua Sanshan, who couldn’t stand Hua Liu, but as one who knew so dical skills, kindly reminded him.

But... obviously, so people just don’t appreciate kindness.

"What business is it of yours? Truly worrying like salty radish eggs, do we not know whether our son is okay?"

Mrs. Zhao, fearing the village chief but never sparing any harsh words for the villagers, imdiately retorted.

At least she knew to restrain herself, not spraying insults all over; if it were a woman, it would be a different story.

She was satisfied to have vented, but left Hua Sanshan and Old ng panting in rage, although being big n, they couldn’t really argue with a woman and imdiately glared at Hua Liu.

"Hua Liu, are you just going to let your wife ride roughshod over you?"

"My man likes it, what’s it to you? With all that ti, go manage your own wives, really a dog catching rats, ugh..."

Mrs. Zhao spat thick phlegm to the side, making several won nearby move away in disgust.

"You, Mrs. Zhao, who were you calling a dog catching rats? I see you don’t know your place! Can’t you understand good and bad words? Watch who you’re ’ughing’ at, you ’ugh’ one more ti and see if I don’t tear your mouth off..."

Mrs. Lin standing next to Old ng imdiately couldn’t stand it, never having been willing to say a word against her husband usually, and couldn’t hold back anymore.

"Sister-in-law, I’m with you, truly ungrateful, think our old man doesn’t argue with won, right? I’m telling you, Mrs. Zhao, I won’t tolerate your bad habit, ’ugh’ one more ti and see what happens."

The wife of Hua Sanshan also stepped forward, hands on her hips, looking combative, her inverted triangle eyes bearing a real resemblance to those of Old Mrs. Zhao.

They say the Hua Sanshan’s wife is known for her temper in the village, quite a match for Old Mrs. Zhao.

Unlike Mrs. Mao, though, who despite her temper, is reasonable and doesn’t favor sons over daughters as strongly.

"Tch, I’ll ’ugh’, so what, you lot think you’re sothing, talking like a dog catching rats, ugh ugh ugh... I’ll ’ugh’, as if it’s any of your business, filthy... really think you’re sobody, just look at your soy-sared sesa cake faces!" Finishing, she spat a few more tis.

"Mrs. Zhao, you filthy... creature..."

Mrs. Mao instantly couldn’t tolerate it, reaching out to grab Mrs. Zhao’s hair and followed with a slap, Mrs. Lin also not falling behind, took aim at Mrs. Zhao’s face and body.

In a flash, the three won were a tangle of flying fists, leaving everyone astonished.

Hua Liu, seeing his wife at a disadvantage, rushed to intervene, only to be tightly blocked by Old ng and Hua Sanshan.

"Hua Liu, what happens among won, as a man don’t intervene, or else..." Hua Sanshan clenched his fist, his eyes full of threat.

Having been scolded by won, Hua Liu held a breath of anger, but if he dared to step forward, Hua Sanshan’s fist would surely follow through.

Old ng also glared harshly at Hua Liu, full of warning, while not forgetting to check on his own wife, only feeling relieved seeing she wasn’t losing.

Importantly, he noticed both his daughters-in-law and Hua Sanshan’s daughter-in-law had also joined in.
