Inside a fortress standing tall amidst a frozen wasteland, a breathtaking woman nad Esdeath sat atop an ice throne, resting her chin on one hand. Her gaze, cold and emotionless, lingered on the strange object that had suddenly appeared before her.
She had long, sky-blue hair cascading down to her knees and wore a pure white military mini-dress paired with thigh-high boots. Despite the freezing climate, she showed no signs of discomfort.
"What is this? Are you trying to resist?"
Esdeath's tone was indifferent. Kneeling before her—or rather, groveling at her feet—were the officers of the forr Northern Fortress.
Due to uprisings among the northern tribes, the Empire had dispatched Esdeath to suppress the rebellion.
Upon her arrival, she had rcilessly executed a group of incompetent officers who had failed to subdue the enemy. Before she could fully take control of the remaining personnel, a strange floating box had appeared in front of her.
Given that she had just executed several fortress officers, Esdeath had every reason to suspect that this was so kind of desperate trick from those still unwilling to submit.
To think that even after witnessing her power and thods, soone still had the audacity to resist!
Far from being angered, Esdeath found herself intrigued. She was eager to discipline the culprit—preferably with a whip and a variety of torture devices.
"rcy, General!"
"We won't disobey you again!"
"Please don't kill …!"
The surviving officers saw the smile on Esdeath's face and nearly wet themselves in fear, frantically kowtowing on the ground.
In less than a day, they had been completely terrified by this newly arrived Imperial general. No matter their background, past achievents, or even if they had once served under Esdeath herself, she executed them all without hesitation.
So officers had attempted to resist, but in front of General Esdeath, all struggles were utterly futile.
Dozens of renowned northern swordsn and rcenaries were defeated in an instant. Even hundreds of fully ard elite soldiers were easily crushed.
The more they resisted, the deeper they sank into absolute despair!
Esdeath almost hoped they would struggle more—it made their suffering all the more enjoyable.

Liver, once an Imperial general himself, had fallen from grace after offending a high-ranking minister. After being rescued by Esdeath, he beca her most loyal subordinate.
Now, he served as one of her Three Beasts, wielding the Teigu known as "Water Dragon's Possession: Black Marlin."
"Can't you see it? This thing right here…"
Esdeath raised an eyebrow, showing slight interest when her subordinates all denied seeing anything unusual.
