Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion Chapter 177: Dying Informant
"What the hell should I do?"
Watching the psionics getting closer and closer, the badly ssed-up Haswith racked his brain trying to figure out how to get out of this alive.
"Am I destined to bite it after all?"
He’d barely escaped that witch’s hunt and was about to make it to safety, only to run smack into the even more powerful Silver Sword Duke.
Haswith was screwed.
"Cough, cough. Since fate’s already sealed the deal, then let stir up one last bit of hell."
Haswith smiled like a total psycho. He completely gave up holding back the golden powder.
The spirituality of the fallen dark mist was like fireflies in the darkness, picked up by Iris and her people behind him.
"It’s a traitor!"
Iris imdiately stopped second-guessing herself, drew her silver sword, and loaded it with heavy psionic energy. In a flash, she slashed out a blazing silver light that ripped through the sky.
"Boom!"
The carriage was imdiately chopped in half.
The second the carriage broke apart, a figure jumped out.
Instead of running, he just stood there quietly, waiting for the knights to catch up.
The coachman took off like a bat out of hell in another direction.
Clop! Clop!
Iris led the half-elf guard unit and imdiately boxed in this traitor.
"You two go nail the coachman. If he’s a traitor, waste him on the spot!"
"Yes ma’am!"
Two riders took off after him. Catching up was just a matter of ti.
Iris’s ice-cold stare locked onto him:
"Traitor."
"Heh heh heh! What a nice welco gift for our first eting! Cough, cough. Silver Sword Duke, you’re not very warm and fuzzy."
Haswith’s expression was cool as a cucumber, like he hadn’t figured out how deep in the hole he was.
"Warm and fuzzy?"
Iris’s voice was arctic. The greatsword in her hand flashed with brilliant silver light.
"Crack!"
"Ahh!"
With a scream, a severed arm went flying through the air as hot blood splattered everywhere.
Haswith’s face went ghost-white and cold sweat popped out on his forehead. Brutal pain shot through his chopped-off limb.
He never saw this coming—this person was so ruthless, hacking off his arm without even asking questions.
Murderous rage inevitably bubbled up in Haswith’s heart.
But facing the Silver Sword Duke who was putting out such terrifying psionic energy, he could only choke it down completely, not daring to show even a hint.
If she caught on, he’d probably lose his head imdiately, and his final sche would go up in smoke.
Haswith forced out a defeated expression:
"Silver Sword Duke, I don’t bla you for attacking. I know I’ve got all of this coming."
Upon hearing this, the half-elf knights didn’t budge, their killing intent unchanged, ready at any mont to take out the traitor in front of them.
They weren’t hearing a traitor’s ’I’m sorry’ speech for the first ti.
To save their skins, what wouldn’t these traitors pull? Nothing surprising about it.
"Are those your last words?"
Iris impatiently raised her greatsword, like it was going to drop the next second.
Haswith cursed under his breath. It was all the fault of those wimps who’d beaten the repentance angle to death, making these psionics totally immune to it.
He could only suck it up and keep going.
"In your eyes, I’m so unforgivable traitor that you can’t wait to wipe out."
Iris’s patience was almost gone. She didn’t want to waste ti.
"What are you getting at?"
Extrely terrifying brilliant sword light gathered. Killing intent wrapped around him, like he’d be turned to ash the next second.
This ti, Haswith’s cool act completely fell apart as he shouted desperately:
"So I’ve seen the light! To make up for my past sins, at the final mont of my life, I want to rat out the human scumbag that’s been dealing with us!"
"Scumbag?"
The brilliant light on Iris’s sword held back without striking. She looked over the traitor in front of her with his sorry expression.
His aura was all over the place, his spirituality shot, giving the impression that he really didn’t have long to live.
This made Iris decide to hear him out.
Seeing that he’d finally gotten the psionics’ attention, Haswith spilled his guts:
"Cough, cough. I am a bishop of the Black Poison Faction, responsible for the area around Rock Sand City.
The president of the Golden Sand Society in Rock Sand City, Salimo, has secretly cut all kinds of deals with us.
Bankrolling our faction’s twisted experints, providing test subjects, secretly telling to hunt down his competition and grab their treasure, and so on.
Just totally sick cris that would make anyone’s blood boil!"
Iris’s pupils tightened a bit.
This badly beaten traitor was actually the ’Black Poison Faction’ bishop that her brother was going to take out!
The situation in Rock Sand City seed to have taken so unexpected turns.
Plus, what he was saying actually lined up with what her brother had written.
This ant the traitor wasn’t blowing smoke.
This was quite a curveball for Iris.
"How did you end up looking like roadkill?"
"That damn Salimo sold out our faction’s location. At the eting spot, Rock Sand City’s garrison troops jumped us. Except for my lucky break, everyone else got wasted."
Haswith was seething with rage. He’d ’trusted’ that old bastard so much, but despite all his careful planning, he never expected the old guy would have the balls to actively turn them in.
How did he dare? They were stuck on the sa sinking ship. Would his own fate be any better?
"The Golden Sand Society actively ratted you out?"
This again caught Iris off guard.
After backstabbing the traitors, wasn’t he scared the traitors would expose his cris too? Just like now.
"Cough, cough. Silver Sword Duke, when I got out of the city, the humans of Rock Sand City didn’t know Salimo’s real face.
I hope... I hope you can blow the whistle on this old bastard’s cris and take out this cancer! This will be my final gift to humanity!"
As soon as he finished talking,
Thud!
Haswith hit the dirt hard. The golden sand had completely eaten his heart, and he was stone-cold dead.
A half-elf got down to check:
"Commander, he’s toast."
Iris looked down. He croaked just like that?
"Boom!"
Brilliant silver light fell, instantly vaporizing the traitor’s corpse.
It looked like he was really dead.
"Commander, what this traitor reported doesn’t sound like he was trying to fra soone."
"Not necessarily. Who knows if this isn’t so traitor con ga?"
"We happen to be heading to Rock Sand City anyway. We can dig into whether it’s legit or bogus."
"..."
The half-elves started throwing around their thoughts on this intel that just fell into their laps.
"Keep moving. Everything will make sense once we get to Rock Sand City!"
Iris didn’t tell her subordinates that the original mission of this trip was indeed to clean house on the Golden Sand Society and Black Poison Faction.
Well... and to check on Carlos while she was at it.
"Yes ma’am!"
After this little sideshow, the group kept hauling ass toward Rock Sand City...
