Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion Chapter 175: Black Light Carpet
"Who would’ve thought that a little weasel like Salimo was hiding so many dirty sches!"
Carlos got the soul wave breakdown info that Red Spirit sent over, his brow creased tight.
This heavy expression left Barossa next to him totally confused. Hadn’t they wrapped up the Golden Sand Society bust successfully? What was eating at young master Carlos?
"Young Master Carlos, we need to haul these criminals back for questioning."
Barossa spoke up, asking. They needed to dig deep and figure out which of these people were completely clueless and which were just playing dumb, to close the book on this whole ss.
"Sounds good."
Carlos nodded. He didn’t really give a damn about these bottom-feeders.
These Golden Sand Society mbers who had survived Red Spirit’s soul wave reading could pretty much be confird as totally in the dark about the Golden Sand Society’s dirty deals with the Black Poison Faction.
But whether they were indirectly mixed up in the collaboration still needed a thorough going-over by the garrison troops.
After getting Carlos’s green light, Barossa imdiately waved his hand to signal:
"Round up this whole bunch and drag them away for questioning!"
"Yes sir!"
The garrison troops filed in, about to escort these guys kneeling on the ground—who couldn’t fight back if they tried—into the psionic suppression iron cages.
"No... no need to go to any trouble, we’ll do it ourselves!"
Who would’ve expected that this group of scared-stiff Golden Sand Society mbers would actually scramble to get in first.
"Let in first!"
"Don’t push! Make so room!"
Obviously the beating the Shield Guards had given them earlier was way too brutal. Being able to get away from these monsters, even if it ant getting arrested, was sothing they were totally down with!
"Quit your yapping! Not one of you is getting left behind!"
"Get in line!"
"..."
The garrison troops didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. This was the first ti they’d run into criminals who were this eager to cooperate.
Soon enough, all the remaining Golden Sand Society mbers were locked up. One after another, open wagons loaded with prisoners rolled out of the Golden Sand Society’s compound.
Right from the start of the siege, huge crowds of residents had gathered around the Golden Sand Society compound. They’d heard what was going down inside, and seeing wagon after wagon of prisoners coming out, the chatter got even louder:
"It’s over? That quick?!"
"Can’t believe the Golden Sand Society would have the balls to work with traitors!"
"Huh? Why are there so few people getting hauled away? Where are all the Golden Sand Society big shots?"
"Do you even need to ask? Didn’t you feel those crazy psionic explosions from inside? They must’ve had the nerve to fight back and got totally wiped out!"
"Damn Golden Sand Society! My brother just joined them yesterday. Guess I don’t have a brother anymore."
"..."
After learning the mission was wrapped up, security personnel quickly put up notices spilling all of the Golden Sand Society’s cris and how the garrison troops tead up with the Valois family to crush them.
The news started spreading like wildfire:
"Did you hear? It was young master Carlos who figured out the Golden Sand Society’s conspiracy!"
"Not only that, young master Carlos was the main guy who took down the Golden Sand Society!"
"Wait, isn’t young master Carlos still at the military camp? When did he bail?"
"What! Young master Carlos isn’t at the camp anymore?!"
"Quick! Quick, get over to the Golden Sand Society! Young master Carlos is there!"
"..."
A wave of people started moving from the camp gates toward the Golden Sand Society compound...
...
Golden Sand Society compound, main hall.
Carlos slowly walked in, ready to collect his loot.
Suddenly, so magic circle on the floor giving off pitch-black light caught his eye.
Even though most of it had been trashed by the battle aftermath, the remaining parts were still stubbornly flashing with black light.
"What’s this magic circle?"
Carlos carefully checked out the patterns. After a few minutes, he ca to a conclusion with a weird expression.
"A Black Light Carpet magic circle?"
The Black Light Carpet magic circle was super niche and single-purpose. As the na suggested, it created a carpet that could give off rich black light.
The black light had zero destructive power whatsoever. It was only used to satisfy the weird aesthetic tastes of a very small number of people. It was completely useless.
For normal human psionics, the materials needed for setup were pretty complex, but it had almost no real use.
On the busted-up floor, the thick sll of blood hung around.
"How ridiculous. They got played by those freaks, the Black Sinners, without even knowing it."
Red Spirit had completely cracked Salimo’s soul waves, so Carlos knew all about Salimo’s secret sches.
"This old geezer wasn’t just knee-deep with the Black Poison Faction—he was also feeding all kinds of ritual materials to the Black Sinners."
The first part didn’t surprise Carlos. In the original tiline, these things had definitely happened.
But the second part—Salimo’s secret deals with the Black Sinners—was a curveball.
This hadn’t happened in the original tiline, or maybe it had happened but wasn’t recorded in his mory bank.
"The butterfly effect?"
Through breaking down Salimo’s soul waves, Carlos understood the cause and effect behind this weird change.
It all started when he cleared out the Black Poison Faction’s camp, which got the Black Poison Faction all riled up and triggered Salimo’s massive panic attack, leading to this whole chain of events.
"No... maybe even earlier."
Maybe when he cleared the first node in the Withered Lands, maybe at the mont Carlos was reborn—everything in this world had already started to change.
"The original tiline’s info can help out, but I can’t lean on it completely."
As Carlos got stronger, the waves he made in this world would get bigger too. The people and events he could ss with would multiply, and a lot of things might very well not go down like they did in the original tiline, creating unknown curveballs.
"A real world should be like this."
This was a real world. Changes different from the original tiline were exactly the whole point of getting a second chance in this world.
Pulling back his wandering thoughts, Carlos kept thinking about the intel he’d gotten from Salimo.
"First, the Black Poison Faction in Rock Sand City has been jumped by the person pulling Salimo’s strings, working together with the garrison troops and other forces. They were almost completely wiped out, with only the bishop getting away."
Good. Salimo had knocked out one of his goals for this trip: destroying the Black Poison Faction in Rock Sand City.
But Carlos’s expression didn’t ease up one bit.
"Who is this person pulling Salimo’s strings?"
In Salimo’s soul waves, there was so ’mysterious master.’
The Golden Sand Society’s first contact with the Black Poison Faction had been at this so-called ’master’s’ say-so.
"Soone who could make Salimo, with his high-tier strength, scared out of his mind is very likely a Controller."
Unfortunately, after all these years, Salimo still didn’t know this master’s real identity. Every ti, the ’mysterious master’ passed orders to Salimo through so black-robed person.
Salimo suspected it might be the garrison commander, or the Chief Security Officer, or even the director of the Sacred dical Institute.
But he could never prove his hunches. He couldn’t even confirm who the black-robed person was.
Because these were just hunches—he didn’t dare send anyone to snoop around.
