Carlos got a little carried away.

This was unavoidable—personal strength was one part, but more importantly, Carlos’s skeletons had gone through a terrible transformation in both quality and quantity!

His gaze swept around, taking in the surroundings.

A full twenty-nine Shield Guards, with normal strength reaching mid-tier, and after fully activating bonds, they could even match high-tier.

The two main retainers had been at the peak of high-tier since their birth.

If they worked together with the Shield Guards to activate bonds...

Carlos felt this wasn’t arrogance, but honest assessnt!

"Sister’s probably gonna be shocked!"

Now he had officially entered the ranks of the strong and no longer needed to deliberately hide his strength.

Packing up the tent, Carlos automatically spread his Crimson-Gold Feathered Serpent Wings, getting ready to leave the Desolate Desert.

Suddenly he realized that leaving the Desolate Desert didn’t require such urgency.

Flying wasn’t easy—it was actually pretty tiring.

Especially long-distance flying required constantly burning and replenishing psychic energy.

During this ti, Carlos had flown enough rushing around and farming monsters—it was ti to take it easy.

Having convinced himself, Carlos took out a bronze palanquin.

The walls were bronze sh that could keep out sand and wind while maintaining excellent airflow, with a large bronze umbrella set up at the rear for shade.

This was sothing Carlos had specially ordered in Ember City, more suitable for desert environnts than the previous Iron Palanquin.

"You two are responsible for carrying the palanquin."

Carlos picked two Redrose Shield Guards—they were fast.

Creak creak.

Two Redrose Shield Guards stepped forward and respectfully lifted the bronze palanquin. Carlos sat comfortably inside.

Looking around, over twenty Shield Guards, Purple Vortex, and Red Spirit waited for his departure command.

"Too many followers."

With a slight lift of his eyelids, Carlos recalled most of the Shield Guards, leaving only the fast Redrose Shield Guards and the two main retainers.

"This is about right.

Let’s go!"

"Roar!"

Purple Vortex led the way up front, Red Spirit circled above the bronze umbrella.

Two Redrose Shield Guards lifted the bronze palanquin, while the remaining nine Redrose Shield Guards provided escort around them.

"Rock Sand City, Golden Sand Society..."

Carlos’s group started rapidly heading toward Rock Sand City...

...

Rock Sand City, Golden Sand Society Headquarters

In a dim room, several Golden Sand Society mbers reported to the president above:

"Sir, everything’s going according to plan."

"Good, very good."

Golden Sand Society President Salimo clapped his hands.

Several boxes of treasure appeared on the floor.

"This is your down paynt!"

These mbers showed delight, eyes revealing greed as they quickly grabbed the treasures.

"Thank you, sir!"

Salimo looked down on his subordinates’ reactions.

But only these guys dared take risks for his plan.

"After we succeed, I’ll give you even more precious rare spirit gear!"

The black-robed figures were thrilled.

Spirit gear—rare spirit gear at that! They competed to respond:

"We swear to complete your mission to the death!"

Beyond greed, their expressions were serious.

This mission carried extre risk—if sothing went wrong, none of them could escape.

Salimo nodded with satisfaction:

"You may go."

"We take our leave!"

The mbers left silently.

Only President Salimo remained in the room, along with the wolf-headed parrot on his shoulder that kept its beak tightly shut.

"Now let’s see who can still investigate !"

Salimo laughed nastily, his old face full of wrinkles.

...

Withered Lands

"Huh? There’s soone over there?"

Grace stood high with beast pupils that could see far, spotting what seed to be a person lying on the ground in the distance.

"?"

Her two companions looked carefully and indeed saw a person—apparently a woman, motionless, seemingly badly hurt.

"Let’s go check it out quick!"

Kathy imdiately suggested.

In the monster-filled Withered Lands, this was the first ti they’d run into a human.

Snap!

Heidi next to her grabbed Kathy’s wrist:

"Wait, what if it’s a traitor deliberately trying to lure us into a trap?"

"Good point."

Grace crossed her arms, muscles bulging—rarely did she agree with Heidi’s opinion.

Kathy stopped. She hesitated a bit:

"But what if she’s not a traitor?

We can’t just leave her there."

The three girls looked at each other—they faced a dilemma.

Heidi suddenly thought of sothing, a small jar appearing in her hand.

"I rember for this situation, our instructor once taught..."

Kathy seed thoughtful:

"You an..."

Grace scratched her head, completely lost. She hated theory classes most and hated her companions being cryptic even more.

"What is it? Just spit it out!"

Heidi and Kathy smiled at each other and said together:

"Inspiration Bug!"

Grace vaguely felt she seed... seed...

Hmm... never heard of it.

Kathy couldn’t help but explain:

"We non-tier psionics have low Spirit and can’t clearly judge the dark mist aura on traitors.

So we need to rely on Inspiration Bugs.

These are alchemical insects really sensitive to dark mist aura, specifically used to identify traitors."

As she spoke, Heidi had already released a white little flying insect from the jar. It flew toward the distant human...

Soon, the Inspiration Bug flew back.

Seeing no blackened traces on its shell, Heidi and Kathy made their judgnt:

"The Inspiration Bug didn’t sense any dark mist aura on her."

"Not a traitor, so let’s go save her."

"Okay!"

This ti the three girls reached complete agreent and quickly approached...

Getting close, they saw it was an unconscious girl in weird clothing, delicate and weak, pale-faced with furrowed brows, looking really pained.

Kathy quickly knelt down to support and examine her.

After checking, she said strangely:

"Huh?

No injuries on her body."

"Maybe she’s ntally hurt."

Heidi offered a guess.

Gulp.

Kathy then gave her a recovery potion.

Soon, the unconscious girl woke up.

Her eyes first showed confusion, but upon seeing the three girls, excitent flashed briefly:

"Kathy, Heidi, Grace!"

She almost cried out.

But she quickly noticed sothing was wrong.

The three girls’ appearance and the unfamiliar look in their eyes as they looked at her—a strong sense of déjà vu.

"This ti... this ti the ability activated for the last ti, actually returning to the beginning of that day."

The girl felt both delighted and worried.

Once she died this ti, she would have no chance to start over.

But she hid her emotions well, a warm, grateful smile appearing on her face.

"Thank you for saving ."

"Mm-hmm." X3

The three girls nodded, naturally accepting the thanks, then all stuck out their hands together.

The aning was obvious... you need to pay for the life-saving service.

This was one of the rules drilled into Ember City residents from childhood:

Rescuers must demand paynt from the rescued.

And the rescued must pay the rescuers.
