Chapter 93: Secret Affairs in the Departnt
After New Year’s Day, Jiang An officially began her internship.
At eight o’clock in the morning, Gao Chuan drove her to the hospital. Given that it was her first ti formally interning at the hospital, the girl couldn’t help being nervous, sitting in the passenger seat and bombarding Gao Chuan with countless questions.
Gao Chuan patiently responded one by one, briefly introducing the situation in the departnt to Jiang An. There weren’t many doctors and nurses in the oncology departnt, but everyone generally worked together harmoniously.
"Will Dr. Gao be ntoring?" Jiang An asked curiously, having heard that Gao Chuan, as the deputy director of oncology, was a leading figure at City Hospital. She wondered if she would have the chance to be assigned under Gao Chuan.
Gao Chuan imdiately dismissed the idea, explaining that he wouldn’t be ntoring interns due to his ongoing experints.
Noticing Jiang An’s spirits drop, Gao Chuan sensed the girl’s nervousness and reassured her softly, "Relax, everyone in the departnt is easy to get along with."
Half an hour later, the car finally turned into the hospital’s underground parking garage. As Jiang An unbuckled her seatbelt, she reminded Gao Chuan, "Doctor Gao, please rember what I ntioned yesterday, definitely."
Gao Chuan still tightly gripped the steering wheel, watching the girl hurriedly get out of the car, he nodded slightly to her words. He rembered the night before when she had knocked on his door, asking him to conceal their marital status within the departnt.
As the hospital wasn’t exactly a haven of universal amicability, revealing their relationship could inevitably lead to gossip behind their backs. Rather than becoming the topic of idle talk, it was better to hide their relationship to allow Jiang An to focus on her internship peacefully.
That day for her internship, Jiang An wore a black business suit, adding a touch of maturity and professionalism. After greeting Gao Chuan, she hurried off, her retreating figure captured in Gao Chuan’s eyes as he watched from the driver’s seat, the corners of his lips slightly curling up.
When Jiang An arrived at the oncology departnt, the three other interns were already waiting in the office. She smiled and greeted the other two males and one female; before they could introduce themselves, the attending physician ca over to invite them to observe the departnt’s morning eting.
The daily morning eting was a routine in the departnt, generally only lasting about fifteen minutes, mainly to report on so recent patient recovery data and conditions.
The attending physician took them to the back seats and introduced himself during a lull - the chief resident physician in oncology, nad Liu Qiming, who, along with another doctor, was responsible for their ntorship.
Shortly after the eting concluded and all reports were given, the doctor sitting in the central seat stood up and gestured for the four to approach, starting to introduce them as the new group of interns.
A group of doctors and nurses fixed their eyes on them. Jiang An, standing in the middle of the four, held her breath nervously, frantically scanning her surroundings. Since she had previously taken care of her mother in the hospital, there were so familiar faces. So nurses, who used to have a good relationship with her, saw her standing with the interns and waved to greet her, to which Jiang An responded with a smile.
After the four people simply introduced themselves in front of everyone, the morning eting ended and the doctors and nurses went to their respective workstations. Doctor Liu then took them for a brief tour around the departnt, introducing a few doctors along the way, and finally brought them to an office.
Jiang An followed behind and entered to imdiately notice Gao Chuan sitting beside the desk, engrossed in writing. The man was dressed in a spotless white coat, his slender hand holding a pen sketching on the paper. His refined profile invaded her vision, quietly resembling a beautiful painting.
Doctor Liu introduced them saying: "This is the deputy director of our departnt, Gao Chuan, the leading figure and the ’male god’ of our departnt." While saying this, his lips slightly curved upwards, seemingly recalling sothing, then he turned to Jiang and said: "Jiang, Dr. Gao is also considered your senior brother, also a graduate from A University."
The four of them greeted one after another: "Hello, Dr. Gao." Gao Chuan remained seated and simply nodded at them in response. Jiang An looked up towards Gao Chuan and t his gaze; after a brief connection, she quickly turned her face away to listen to Doctor Liu continue the introduction.
Why is there a feeling of having a secret affair with Dr. Gao in the departnt...
After the tour, Doctor Liu announced their assignnts; Jiang An and another male intern were assigned to Dr. Li, while the other two were to follow Doctor Liu.
The two nodded and walked to the office as directed by Doctor Liu. Since Dr. Li who was to ntor them had gone to check on the patients, the two had to stand and wait in the office.
The other male intern sensed the awkward atmosphere between them and took the initiative to start a conversation by introducing himself: "Hello, I am Ren Lin, please take care of in the future."
Jiang An quickly extended her hand for a handshake and displayed a shy smile: "Hello, I am Jiang An."
The male intern had fair skin and delicate features with a hint of handsoness. His slim and slender figure was dressed in a crisp black suit which could not hide his youthful aura. He smiled gently at her and started chatting: "Are you from A University?"
Jiang An nodded, listening to the male intern saying that his father was also a graduate from A University, while he himself graduated from the affiliated dical college of S University.
As they were chatting, a middle-aged male doctor hurriedly walked in, his face showing regret, "You’re the interns, right? Sorry, the patient rounds took too long just now."
"Doctor Liu has told you already, right? I’ll be supervising your internship from now on." The energetic Dr. Li walked to his desk, took out two small booklets from the drawer, handed them to the two, and gestured for them to sit on the chairs to the side, "This contains so relevant regulations of the hospital. I’m sure you’ve also had clinical internships at Hospital during university, so I won’t ntion the strict rules. Doctor Liu and I plan to take turns supervising you, trying one person for two months first."
Jiang An sat aside flipping through the booklet while listening, "Personally, I don’t like too much restraint. Based on age, I am probably a few batches senior to you, so consider a half senior brother. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I don’t have many demands; just be obedient."
Dr. Li introduced himself and shared so of his teaching experiences. Considering the small age difference between them and Dr. Li’s approachable personality, Jiang An felt quite relaxed by midday.
Having briefly familiarized with the departnt, Jiang An and Ren Lin were taken by Dr. Li to the hospital cafeteria for lunch, stating it was a treat as their first al together as ntor and ntees.
