Several days later, it was ti for Jiang An’s scheduled dressing change with the doctor. Rembering that she had previously promised Dr. Gao that he would accompany her, she had sent a ssage to Gao Chuan early in the morning. However, there was no reply even by noon. The girl guessed that he must be busy with an important surgery, so she decided to take a taxi to the hospital by herself.

Before she could leave the house, she ran into Xia Zi, who had just co back. Upon learning that Jiang An was going to the hospital alone, Xia Zi considerately offered to accompany her. The afternoon was busy with many people registering in the surgery departnt, and they had to wait in line for half an hour. Just when only three people were left before them, Jiang An and Xia Zi couldn’t help but heave a sigh of relief.

An ergency situation arose with a patient in the oncology departnt, and a specialists’ consultation was convened in the hospital. Gao Chuan had been busy with this matter all morning and had not checked his phone at all. Only after dealing with everything and returning to his office did he see the WeChat ssage Jiang An had sent in the morning. It had been several hours. The man’s eyes lit up silently, he took off his gold-rimd glasses with a weary frown, and dialed Jiang An’s number directly.

Jiang An, sitting in the corridor with Xia Zi and waiting for the doctor to call their number, suddenly heard her phone ring in her bag. When she took it out and saw that it was Dr. Gao, she was montarily stunned. She saw Xia Zi scrolling through Weibo and quietly stood up to walk to the nearby window to take the call. Xia Zi noticed her movent and reminded her, "Hurry up, it’s almost our turn."

Jiang An replied with an "Okay" and hurriedly ran off. Once she found a quiet spot to ensure Xia Zi wouldn’t hear, the girl pressed the green answer button. The familiar, deep voice of the man ca through the speaker, "Did you get your dressing changed? I was busy with a consultation this morning and didn’t see the ssage."

Hearing Gao Chuan explaining himself, Jiang An smiled brightly and replied, "It’s okay, I’m already in line."

Gao Chuan, listening to her casual tone, didn’t feel a bit of grievance or anger. From the ti they knew each other, he had missed appointnts with Jiang An several tis because of work, and the girl had always just smiled and expressed her understanding.

Thinking this way, he suddenly felt a pang of self-reproach. Gao Chuan glanced at his watch, and suddenly thought that the two had not seen each other for several days. He planned to ask Jiang An out to dinner after getting off work, but before he could speak, he heard Jiang An’s anxious voice from the other end, "Dr. Gao, I can’t talk now, it’s my turn, I have to go."

The man opened his mouth to speak, but the call was already hung up, and all he could hear was the "du du du" sound. He put down his phone helplessly, lips curving into a smile that was not quite a smile.

Although Jiang An’s hand was not severely injured, it was still a knife wound and needed ti to heal. After the doctor wrote out the prescription, Jiang An stayed in the outpatient room for her dressing change. Xia Zi went out to pay, leaving only Jiang An and the doctor. Jiang An was the kind of person who was very afraid of pain. When the liquid dicine touched her wound, she couldn’t help but hiss. The male doctor applying the dicine saw the girl’s pained expression, looked up and asked, "Does it hurt?"

"It’s okay," Jiang An bit her lip. As they were talking, a man in a white coat suddenly entered the room. The doctor who was about to re-wrap Jiang An’s bandage looked up and saw the newcor, his eyes flashing with surprise as he smiled, "Director Gao, how do you have ti to visit our surgery departnt?"

Jiang An, who had been looking away the whole ti, afraid to look at her wound, followed the doctor’s gaze at the ntion of Director Gao. Sure enough, she saw the tall Dr. Gao standing at the entrance. The man in the white coat had broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and a tall figure, with brows that indicated ease. His gaze settled on both Jiang An and the doctor who were changing the dressing, reflecting their own surprise.

"It’s nothing, I just went to deliver so docunts to Old Chai and thought I’d stop by for a casual visit." Gao Chuan knew that Jiang An didn’t want others in the hospital to know about their relationship, yet he still ca inexplicably. Now when asked for a reason, he simply gave an excuse. Obviously, the excuse didn’t quite hold water, and the male doctor almost laughed out loud, thinking that even though they all work in the hospital, he seed to be making a visit.

Dr. Gao seed to also feel that his reasons were unconvincing; the sight of Jiang An’s wound currently exposed to the air—a wound that was clearly not too deep but might still leave a scar—caused the man to tense up on the spot.

"Have I heard that your tumor departnt has been dealing with so trouble?" Since the guest had shown up uninvited, it would be improper to leave Director Gao just standing there, so the male doctor thought he might as well strike up a conversation while changing Jiang An’s dressing.

Gao Chuan snapped back to reality and nodded in response, "Yeah, we just resolved it this morning."

The male doctor quickly and deftly finished up the last of the bandaging. With a smooth continuation of his work, he routinely instructed Jiang An, "Rember not to get the wound wet, and co back next Friday to change the dressing."

Jiang An obediently nodded her head. Ever since Dr. Gao had entered, she had beco quite reserved, constantly staring at the floor and not daring to look at Dr. Gao. Now, finally done, she thought she could quickly escape this awkward atmosphere. To her surprise, before she could leave the room, Dr. Gao had already taken the lead and left the consultation room, prompting the male doctor to chuckle at his retreating figure.

So he really just ca to look...

Stepping out of the ward, Jiang An saw the white figure standing in the corridor and realized things were not that simple. Although she wasn’t sure whether Gao Chuan was here specifically for her, having bumped into him ant she had no choice but to greet him. She hadn’t taken a few steps before she saw Dr. Gao turn and walk towards her.

The man’s complexion wasn’t very rosy, possibly due to being busy with work, his expression even seed a bit weary. Within a few seconds, he had strolled up to her side, pulled out two small dicine bottles from his pocket, and was about to hand them over to Jiang An when she suddenly grabbed his hand and firmly put them back in his pocket. A mont later, she quickly let go, stepped back a few paces, and cheerfully said, "Oh, Dr. Gao, what a coincidence bumping into you here."

Gao Chuan, puzzled by the girl’s flurry of actions, then heard footsteps from behind him. Jiang An’s gaze had clearly moved past him, and turning slightly, he saw a girl holding her mouth in surprise, with a paynt slip in hand, who suddenly beca excited upon seeing him.

"Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!" Xia Zi almost uncontrollably scread, attracting the attention of those around before quickly covering her mouth, her face in disbelief looking at Gao Chuan. Before he could react to what was happening, he watched as Jiang An walked over to Xia Zi, pretending to introduce her, "Dr. Gao, this is my best friend Xia Zi; she really likes you, she’s your little fan."

Gao Chuan looked at the flustered Jiang An and the lovesick Xia Zi in front of him, barely managing to understand Jiang An’s inexplicable behavior from before, and played along after a mont, "Is that so?"

"Yeah, yeah, she cried with excitent the last ti you gave a lecture at our school," Jiang An was now saying these things without even knowing what stance she was taking.

As a wife, she was introducing a little fan to her own husband...
