After a busy day at work, Gao Chuan, exhausted, returned ho, thinking Jiang An would be staying at school again. The man changed his shoes at the entrance and irritably adjusted his tie before dropping himself onto the sofa.

Troubleso patients, Wei Yan’s barrage of questions, and the ss at ho—it seed he was always dealing with these recurring issues. The man slightly closed his eyelids, intending to take a brief nap on the sofa, but before he could settle down, he was startled by the sudden sound of breathing approaching him. He opened his eyes abruptly and Jiang An’s oval-shaped little face appeared before him.

The girl squatted beside the sofa and leaned in, staring at his face with curiosity, asking, "Dr. Gao, did you fall asleep?"

Their faces were suddenly so close, the enlarged visages startling them both. Once Jiang An realized Gao Chuan had opened his eyes, she imdiately backed away, straightened up, and said, "Sorry Dr. Gao, I thought you were asleep."

Gao Chuan slowly sat up from the sofa, noticed the girl in front of him wearing a pink apron, her eyes slightly sparkling, and responded softly, "No."

Turning around, the girl still held a small kitchen spatula and cheerfully said to him, "Then go wash your hands and get ready for dinner, I’ve made supper."

Looking at the girl’s pure face in front of him, Gao Chuan was slightly astounded. Her lovely image reflected in his dark pupils, his heart seed to be suddenly overwheld by her smile. He nodded in surprise, his hoarse voice murmuring, "Okay."

Regardless of what the future held, at least for now, she was his wife.

She was his, he thought.

Jiang An returned from her grandmother’s house in the evening and, having nothing else to do, went into the kitchen to prepare dinner. She was glad that Gao Chuan had co ho not too late to taste her cooking. She placed the ho-cooked dishes she made onto the dining table and thoughtfully set up the bowl and chopsticks for Gao Chuan.

Coming out of the restroom, Gao Chuan saw a table full of steaming dishes, with Jiang An ladling soup for him, a scene that had never occurred in their ho before.

Jiang An seed to be in a good mood today, keeping on serving him dishes and talking about which ones were her specialty and which ones she learned to make just today. Gao Chuan chewed each bite slowly, listening to Jiang An narrating her day spent brewing dicine at her grandmother’s house and how she was preparing for the thesis defense in December. Mundane details of daily life, yet Gao Chuan listened to her stories, silently nodding along.

This quiet house now had sound, light, and seed more like a ho.

"What did you do today, Dr. Gao?" Jiang An slurped up her chopsticks, realizing that she had been the one talking non-stop the whole ti, feeling sowhat awkward as she asked.

Gao Chuan paused for a mont while eating, his throat moving slightly as he replied indifferently, "Nothing much, just work."

The conversation ca to an abrupt halt with that response, and Jiang An chuckled awkwardly, not saying anything further.

It seed his life had always been bland and tasteless, Gao Chuan thought. His life was completely filled with work, and perhaps it was because he was a boring person by nature, thus he couldn’t live as interestingly as Jiang An.

Silence fell over the dining table, and after eating a few mouthfuls of rice, Jiang An, as if suddenly recalling sothing, spoke, "Right, Dr. Gao, it seems like grandma’s birthday is coming up in a few days. I want to pick out a nice gift for her this ti."

"Uh-huh," Gao Chuan uttered tersely, indeed reminding him that his grandmother’s birthday wouldn’t be a grand celebration this ti, but a family gathering was still inevitable.

"Let’s go together then. I don’t know what grandma likes," the girl raised her clear and limpid doe eyes, then quickly added, worried that Gao Chuan might be too busy with work, "unless you’re too busy at the hospital..."

"That’s fine."

After dinner, Jiang An cleaned up the kitchen only to realize it was already eight o’clock. Gao Chuan, as usual, headed into the gym, and the girl turned on the TV in the living room. She found a recently released youth idol drama and started watching it with great interest on the sofa.

Soon engrossed in the plot, Jiang An sat on the couch clutching a pillow, but not long after, a steaming cup of milk suddenly appeared on the table in front of her. Turning sideways, she noticed Gao Chuan had already sat down beside her. Noticing Jiang An turn her head to look at him, he paused before commanding, "Drink it."

There was really a sense of being a kindergarten child looked after by a father, and now feeling familiar with it, Jiang An naturally picked up the cup and took a sip, quickly shifting her gaze back to the TV screen.

Watching Jiang An engrossed, Gao Chuan also looked over and, after seeing a familiar figure on the TV, asked, "Do you like following Ji Wanwan’s dramas?"

Jiang An, sowhat surprised that Gao Chuan even knew the na of the female celebrity, explained, "Of course, Ji Wanwan is the National Goddess. I’ve watched pretty much all of her dramas; she’s really beautiful!"

Talking about drama series and chasing celebrities, Jiang An found herself with a topic. Despite being busy with dical College life, she still managed to follow dramas and stars like other young people. Thinking that Gao Chuan had no hobbies, Jiang An curiously asked, "Do you like Ji Wanwan, Dr. Gao?"

Caught off guard by her question, Gao Chuan almost choked, cleared his throat, and replied seriously, "No, I just know her na."

"Oh," Jiang An nodded, "Do you watch dramas usually?"

"No."

"Do you have any favorite celebrities then?"

"No."

"Oh."

Once again, silence fell between them. Jiang An continued to watch her TV show, and Gao Chuan, having nothing better to do, also started watching the drama on the screen, secretly criticizing the shoddy romance idol drama for its gaping plot holes.

As the milk was nearing the bottom, Jiang An held the glass, and the TV screen shifted, showing the male and female protagonists resolving their misunderstanding with a kiss. Seeing the flash on the screen, Jiang An’s lips curled up unconsciously, and her face flushed.

Turning her head and seeing Gao Chuan also watching, she felt even more embarrassed, put down the glass, and said, "I’m going to shower" before hurrying away.

Gao Chuan turned back to watch the girl flee like a puff of smoke, pursed his lips tightly, then turned back to see the ongoing kissing scene on the TV, wondering in his mind what Gao Yu’s reaction would be if he saw it.
