Chapter 114 Why Apologize

Jiang An got up early to cook porridge, and right now it was steaming hot by the girl’s side, making a "woo woo" sound as if it had just co to a boil. The wisps of steam were rising when she suddenly paused at the sound of a man’s voice coming from behind her.

"I’m sorry, I got drunk last night..." said Gao Chuan, pulling at his slightly hoarse voice, clearing his throat midway, still with groggy, sleepy eyes.

The girl standing by the kitchen counter was taken aback, the man’s apology causing her mind to go blank as a layer of despondent emotion veiled her delicate face. The spatula in her hand dropped to the floor with a crisp sound. She quickly bent down to pick it up but accidentally knocked over the salt shaker next to her. Frowning, her fingers touched the scorching heat and "hissed" as they recoiled instantly.

Her frantic movents caught the eye of Gao Chuan not far away. He was about to walk over when his phone in his pocket suddenly rang. He sighed, took it out, and his face tensed upon hearing the ssage, "Prepare everything, I’ll be right there."

After hanging up the phone, Gao Chuan turned to look at Jiang An, who was still squatting on the ground, and sighed slightly before saying, "There’s an urgent situation at the hospital, I need to rush over now."

Upon hearing this, Jiang An didn’t look up, a sudden tightness in her heart. Without looking at the man behind her, it felt as though cotton was stuffing her throat. "Hurry over," she said dully.

As she spoke, she reached for the scattered pieces of broken glass beside her. It wasn’t until Gao Chuan grabbed his coat and hurried out the door that she collapsed onto the floor, a cut from the glass on her pale hand oozing droplets of blood. Ignoring the throbbing pain in her fingers, she covered her face with her hand, tears streaming silently through her fingers.

Why apologize, why apologize...

She murmured to herself in her heart, while behind her, the white steam still rose in layers, and the eggs in the frying pan were gradually getting burnt, her sobbing, choked with sobs, resounded faintly in the room.

So, Dr. Gao didn’t want to touch her after all. His previous talk of being together was just out of a sense of responsibility, echoed in Jiang An’s mind, her heart clenching in pain.

As soon as Gao Chuan received the call from the hospital, he dashed there non-stop, with his car speeding all the way. A shadow lingered on his face as he rembered Jiang An’s voice from earlier at ho, seemingly close to tears, his heavy brows furrowed in distress.

In the end, it was because he got drunk and wronged Jiang An, sothing entirely unexpected to him.

Jiang An was quietly sobbing when her phone in her apron pocket buzzed. She trembled as she answered, then put it to her ear. Ji Wanwan’s voice, full of excitent, ca through, "Jiang An, guess what good stuff I got for you?"

Ji Wanwan, returning to work today, had just happened to et the young celebrity Jiang An had ntioned she liked and managed to get his autograph to surprise her. The woman was speaking when she noticed the lack of response on the other end of the phone and asked in confusion, "Jiang An, are you listening?"

Before the words finished, faint crying could be heard from the other end. The girl seed to be restraining herself deliberately, which Ji Wanwan picked up on as she stood up abruptly from her makeup chair, "What happened, what’s wrong?"

The woman’s anxious voice ca through the phone, and Jiang An seed unable to hold back any longer, tears continuously rolling down her cheeks, her voice full of grievance, "Why does he have to apologize, why does he have to apologize..."

After finishing the surgery he had in the morning, it was already noon by the ti Gao Chuan tidied everything up. He wanted to go find Jiang An but was called over by the departnt head.

Busy all day, and with night duty as well, Gao Chuan finally had a mont of free ti and went to Jiang An’s office, only to discover her workstation empty, with no sign of her.

The man fell silent for a mont before turning away again, figuring he would explain last night’s events clearly when he saw her tomorrow.

At this ti, Jiang An had already been picked up by Ji Wanwan. Hearing Jiang An’s pain over the phone that morning, she beca worried and waited until the girl got off work to drive over and find her.

Jiang An sat in the passenger seat still looking sullen. Ji Wanwan asked for a long ti, but the girl stubbornly said nothing. With a slight sigh, she knew Jiang An kept the unhappiness bottled up inside and simply turned the car around, "Co on, let’s have so fun."

Jiang An had not expected Ji Wanwan’s idea of having fun to be drinking until she was brought into a KTV private room. Ji Wanwan ordered a lot of bottles of alcohol, intending to teach Jiang An her own thod of drowning sorrows in liquor.

Looking at the bottle of alcohol pushed in front of her, Jiang An bit her lip and took a small sip, hearing Ji Wanwan tentatively ask next to her, "Did you have a fight with Gao Chuan?"

"Did he bully you?" Ji Wanwan, still confused, couldn’t help but gossip.

Jiang An watched vacantly ahead, the words of the woman reaching her ears and causing another pang of pain in her heart as she grabbed the bottle and started chugging.

It hurts, it ached inside her heart.

She originally thought that if she gave herself completely to the man, it would naturally lead to them becoming a real husband and wife, but what she got in the end was a re apology from Dr. Gao.

So was Dr. Gao always regretting everything that had happened between them?

Ji Wanwan looked at the girl in front of her with a distressed expression, thinking she must be right, and said indignantly, "n really are no good. Tell , how did he bully you?"

The cold liquid burned its way down her throat and Jiang An coughed fiercely a few tis, forcing her to put down the bottle and collapse powerlessly onto the table, tears uncontrollably falling.

"Why must it be like this? We were already together!" The girl murmured under her breath, not sure if she was already drunk, her whole person dizzy and her face covered with a thin blush.

Ji Wanwan, listening from the side and still puzzled, moved closer to gently pat the girl on the shoulder, tears already flowing down Jiang An’s cheeks, her eyes misty with moisture.

After several rounds of drinks, the girl was thoroughly drunk. Ji Wanwan watched as Jiang An, now flushed red and flailing in front of her, grabbed her hand holding the alcohol bottle, only intending to cheer her up, not expecting the young girl to get so easily intoxicated.

The drunken Jiang An kept calling her "immortal" while grabbing her hand, and Ji Wanwan, flustered by the back and forth, held her forehead and took the bottle from the girl’s embrace, "Jiang An, you are drunk, let take you ho!"

Upon hearing this, the girl’s face changed slightly, her eyes drooped slightly, and her long black hair covered half her cheek, she turned her face and stamred softly, "No, don’t want to go ho, Dr. Gao hates it when I drink."

"He will hate ." Her cheeks flushed, her eyes shimred with a hint of desolation, her tone as ek as a stray cat abandoned by people.

The faint voice reached Ji Wanwan’s ears, and her face froze suddenly.
