Chapter 104 I Cherish This Marriage

"What the hell, why did you abruptly stop the car like that!" Song Li felt a sudden, tumultuous upheaval in his stomach as the car jerked to a stop, and glanced over to see Gao Chuan pulling the car over with a serious expression on his face.

Song Li, still disoriented, looked around and finally realized the car had arrived at his residence. He hurriedly pushed open the car door, got out, and went straight to the base of a nearby tree to throw up.

The sudden stop had jolted him badly, and the man leaned against the tree, his face showing pain.

On this cold winter night, as chilly as an ice cellar, Gao Chuan watched the man with an indifferent gaze, not feeling the slightest bit of sympathy as Song Li vomited and had diarrhea, not moving to help even when it was finally over.

"Hey, was that really necessary? I just made an offhand comnt, why are you so angry?" Song Li covered his mouth, his stomach still upset, and turned back to see Gao Chuan coldly observing and reprimanded him sternly.

He had never known before that Gao Chuan could be such a petty person.

"Besides, with the way you and your sister-in-law behave, you don’t look like a couple at all. I could tell at a glance that you’re just fooling around..." Song Li muttered discontentedly, pouting.

He must really be drunk today; Song Li said whatever ca to his mind, sothing he would never dare to do ordinarily.

In the deserted street, his tall figure was cast under the street lamp, his eyebrows furrowed and eyes covered with a layer of coldness upon hearing Song Li’s drunken truths.

"You should already be well aware of my feelings towards Song Xin. Whether she cos back or not, it won’t change anything between us. And as for my relationship with Jiang An, it’s none of your concern," the man said, hands in his coat pockets, looking down at Song Li, who was half crouching, enunciating each word with gravity.

He did not want Song Li to make baseless speculations about his marriage like those other people did.

Song Li looked up at the man under the street lamp, watching him with an indifferent gaze, and suddenly let out a "haha" laugh, "Co on Lao Gao, I’m just drunk, why take so seriously?"

"If you really liked my sister, I still wouldn’t give her to you!" Song Li replied, his tone airy.

After all, as her brother, he was just looking out for his sister.

Song Li knew that his words today had touched Gao Chuan’s sore spot, and he felt at fault in the mont, not expecting that a re jest could elicit such a strong reaction from him.

Gao Chuan looked down at Song Li, who wore an indifferent expression, and inexplicably felt ripples in his heart. He hadn’t realized that he would take Song Li’s drunken words to heart and retort.

But no matter what, what he said was the truth.

"You are wrong about one thing, I cherish my current marriage very much, and I love my wife," the man’s voice was deep and resonant, as if gravitationally pulling.

If this had been two months earlier, he might still be undecided about this marriage, but from the mont he kissed Jiang An, his heart was destined to have only her.

This might have to do with responsibility, but it’s more than just that.

He loves her, perhaps a fondness that grew over ti, or perhaps not.

Sotis, love is confusing like that; you may never speak of your love out loud, but the small, unintended gestures can reveal the care and affection you have for soone.

That is exactly how he feels about Jiang An.

He cherishes his Little Ostrich, and so he learned to be jealous, to care, and to love.

He now had his Little Ostrich, and naturally, no one else could fit in his heart, nor would he allow others to ddle in their relationship.

Song Li’s blurred vision landed on the man before him, and hearing Gao Chuan’s words, he couldn’t help but be stunned. Having grown up with Gao Chuan since childhood, he was the person who knew him best in the world. He never imagined that one day Gao Chuan would utter such words and reveal such a look in his eyes.

It turned out that falling in love with soone could really make you stoop to the mundane, and from then on, only one person would occupy your eyes.

In the end, Gao Chuan didn’t help Song Li in but drove off alone, leaving Song Li cursing on the doorstep, stumbling into the house where, without bothering to turn on the light, he collapsed onto the sofa. The text ssages on his phone once again brought up Gao Chuan’s words from earlier.

He didn’t know whether Gao Chuan was using it as an excuse to reject his sister or if he had truly developed feelings in this marriage, but the truth was undeniable now.

Slowly, the man flipped through the chat history with his sister, Song Xin. Over the past few days, they had been discussing intermittently about her return to the country. Looking at how almost every few words from Song Xin were about Gao Chuan, Song Li’s mouth curled into a cold smirk.

His silly sister would probably have to endure so hardship in the future.

When he got ho at ten o’clock at night, he walked in, started to remove his coat, and looked around the living room but didn’t see any sign of Jiang An.

It was only when he reached the kitchen that he found Jiang An asleep at the dining table, her head resting on her arm, still wearing the family’s pink Hello Kitty apron, with several plates of fragrant dishes on the table.

The dim light cast upon Jiang An’s figure, and the sight made Gao Chuan’s heart inexplicably tighten.

Only after pulling out his phone from his pocket did he realize that Jiang An had called him earlier, but he hadn’t picked up because he was driving.

So she waited until now...

Gao Chuan slowly walked over to the dining table, reached out to brush the stray hair from the girl’s face and realized she was sleeping soundly. He bent down to pick her up.

She was light, every princess carry felt this way.

Gao Chuan managed to get Jiang An to bed without waking her. She continued to sleep soundly on the bed, not knowing what dream she was having, her little face slightly furrowed, her cherry lips moving restlessly as she let out a muffled grunt.

Gao Chuan looked down at the sleeping figure on the bed, stood there for a few seconds, then pulled over a blanket to cover her before quietly leaving the room.

Alone, he returned to sit at the dining table, took out a pair of chopsticks, and began to eat the dishes that had completely cooled. He chewed slowly, and suddenly, he rembered an incident from several months ago.

He had just finished a surgery, exhausted, and returned to his office. Darkness still enveloped him, but he saw Jiang An’s figure inside, the girl having brought him the food she cooked.

That night, with the breeze gently blowing, the half-eaten instant noodles were discarded to one side, as he savored the food she brought, and his weary heart relaxed as well.

In the days that followed, he strategized and easily married the girl into his ho.

He admits that when he first proposed marriage, there was a bit of a gamble in his heart.

But luckily, he won the gamble.

In the silent night, the man chewed the fish in his mouth and slightly lifted the corners of his mouth.

He had never told Jiang An, the sweet and sour fish she made, it was his favorite.
