Chapter 627: Dreaming of Dio

After leaving the office with their new equipnt, Liu Xing and the others returned to their temporary residence to prepare for the upcoming mission.

Although the atmosphere seed relaxed, Liu Xing’s mind was still filled with questions about Dio.

From everything he had read in the report, Dio was clearly different from the other Ghouls they had encountered before. Most humans who were transford into Ghouls lost their ability to return to human form. Their bodies quickly mutated and their minds gradually collapsed into a primitive hunger.

But Dio was different.

According to the police investigation files, Dio had managed to live as a normal human for many years. He attended school, graduated normally, and even maintained social relationships. No one suspected that he was anything more than an ordinary young man.

That ant Dio could control his transformation.

And that fact alone made him far more dangerous than any ordinary Ghoul.

The Strange Gift of Ithaqua

As Liu Xing reviewed the details again in his mind, he began to suspect that Dio’s transformation was not the result of a random Ghoul infection.

Instead, it might be connected to Ithaqua, the Wind-Walker.

In the world of the Cthulhu Mythos, Ithaqua was known to grant power to those who attracted his attention. However, such blessings were never free. Those who received them often beca servants or sacrifices.

If Dio truly had so connection to Ithaqua, then his ability to freely shift between human and Ghoul forms might be part of that dark gift.

But that raised another question.

Why Dio?

There was nothing particularly special about him. He ca from an ordinary family and had lived a relatively normal life until the murders began.

Unless…

The hereditary heart disease ntioned in the report had pushed him into madness long before anyone realized.

A Quiet Night Before Departure

Later that evening, Leon returned after chatting with Miss Wang next door.

Jill sat on the sofa, flipping through the Investigator’s Handbook again.

“I still can’t believe mythical creatures actually exist,” she said quietly.

Leon laughed.

“Honestly, I thought joining the police would an chasing smugglers or terrorists. Not monsters.”

Liu Xing shrugged.

“Well… now you know.”

Despite the casual conversation, Liu Xing remained silent most of the ti. Sothing about the Dio case made him uneasy.

It felt like they were only seeing the surface of a much deeper conspiracy.

Eventually, the group returned to their rooms and prepared to sleep. They would leave for Manchester early the next morning.

The Dream

That night, Liu Xing fell into a deep sleep.

But soon, the dream began.

He found himself standing in a vast, frozen landscape.

A violent snowstorm howled through the darkness. The wind carried a chilling sound that felt almost like whispers.

In front of him stood a cetery.

Rows of graves stretched endlessly across the snow-covered ground.

And in the middle of the cetery stood a single figure.

Dio.

He was kneeling in front of a grave.

The na carved into the tombstone was faint, but Liu Xing could make out a few words.

“Beloved Mother.”

For a mont, Dio looked completely human.

His expression was calm.

Almost sorrowful.

But then sothing changed.

His body began to twist.

His skin stretched unnaturally.

His jaw elongated, revealing rows of sharp teeth.

Within seconds, the human face disappeared.

In its place stood a terrifying Ghoul.

Yet Dio did not seem out of control.

Instead, he looked up toward the stormy sky.

And he spoke.

“I will bring you more hearts.”

His voice was calm.

Devoted.

As if he were making a sacred promise.

The Presence in the Storm

Suddenly, the wind grew stronger.

The snowstorm intensified until Liu Xing could barely see anything.

Then a massive shadow appeared within the blizzard.

At first it was just a vague outline.

But the longer Liu Xing stared, the clearer it beca.

A towering figure walked within the storm.

Its body was enormous.

Its limbs long and unnatural.

And its eyes glowed faintly in the darkness.

Even though Liu Xing could not see its full form, he imdiately knew what it was.

Ithaqua.

The Wind-Walker.

The terror of the frozen north.

At that mont, the presence of the Great Old One filled the entire dream world with an overwhelming pressure.

Liu Xing felt his sanity slipping away.

Sanity Check

In the darkness of the dream, a familiar voice echoed.

KP Ti.

“Sanity Check.”

Liu Xing failed the check.

His mind trembled under the pressure of the cosmic horror before him.

Even though the vision lasted only a mont, the re glimpse of Ithaqua was enough to shake his consciousness.

He lost 1 SAN.

Then the dream shattered.

Awakening

Liu Xing suddenly woke up.

His heart was racing.

Cold sweat covered his back.

He quickly checked the ti.

3:17 AM.

The room was completely silent.

Everything looked normal.

But the feeling of fear still lingered in his mind.

Was that dream simply a nightmare?

Or was it a ssage?

In the Cthulhu Mythos, dreams were often used as a way for powerful beings to influence mortals.

If Ithaqua had truly appeared in his dream…

Then Dio might not just be a murderer.

He might be a chosen servant of a Great Old One.

Morning

The next morning, Liu Xing t Leon and Jill in the hallway.

Leon looked tired.

“Did you sleep well?” Liu Xing asked.

Leon shook his head.

“Not really. I had a strange dream… but I can’t rember what happened.”

Jill, on the other hand, seed completely normal.

Soon after, Wesker arrived to pick them up.

“Alright everyone,” he said. “We’re leaving for Manchester.”

The investigation into Dio was entering its next stage.

None of them realized that the Flower Cetery waiting for them in Manchester might already be hiding sothing far more dangerous than they imagined.
