Sander could actually send soone to invite him?
Saul pondered thoughtfully. "It seems Sander isn't entirely a puppet here either."
Kate, who was swishing his tail in the water tank nearby, suddenly erged from underwater. "Take with you."
Floco had occupied Kate's body again.
Saul nodded, but inwardly thought that once this matter was over, he definitely needed to get Kate out of the rmaid's body.
Floco was coming over sowhat frequently, which would harm both Kate's body and soul.
This soul that could easily adapt to various species' bodies—Saul didn't want him to break down so quickly.
Taking the rmaid and draping a cloak over him, then using levitation magic to guide him along directly.
This ti riding a carriage to the palace where Sander lived, Saul finally got a complete understanding of the surrounding environnt.
Evernight's royal palace wasn't renowned for its splendor, but the palaces were very tall and the roads very wide. It was as if only such magnificent architecture could embody the revered status of the royal family.
Saul's temporary residence was in the northwest corner of this palace complex, while the Evernight Emperor's palace was in the southwest corner.
Very clearly, neither Saul nor Sander were the political center of Evernight.
Getting off the carriage, guided by attendants through the central arched gate, Saul looked up to see only a vaulted corridor.
"Through the corridor is His Majesty's chamber. From here on, please proceed on your own, Lord Saul."
The attendant bowed respectfully, then retreated to the carriage. "I'll wait for you here."
Saul led the rmaid like a balloon into the corridor.
With no servants around, Saul's footsteps echoed in the spacious corridor.
Perhaps the footsteps alerted soone inside, because before Saul could raise his hand to push the door, the palace gates opened inward just a crack.
The one opening the door was actually the Evernight Emperor himself.
Inside the door was very dark, with only a beam of yellow candlelight illuminating.
Alexandra, Emperor of Evernight—the largest empire in Nephret—stood inside the door wearing a white ruffled, unbelted long robe, holding a brass candlestick, smiling at Saul.
"Lord Saul, it's been a while."
Sander opened the door crack wider to let Saul enter.
Following Sander inside, Saul found this was the sa palace Alfonso had brought him to last ti.
However, today this palace was very dark inside, with candle lamps lit only in the four corners, barely providing enough light for soone to walk without falling.
Sander walked ahead, knowing Saul didn't need his candlelight for illumination.
"Let's go to the inner room. This outer area usually isn't used."
Following behind Sander, Saul asked, "Aren't you the Emperor of Evernight? Don't you even have a pretty little maid by your side?"
Sander turned back with a smile. Under the dim candlelight, his face appeared waxy yellow, like a mummified corpse.
"Lord Saul, you don't know—I only have the title of emperor. These past few years I've had no heirs, and whether it's the Tribunal or Evernight's nobles, they're all getting impatient to replace as emperor."
He glanced at the rmaid Saul was leading.
"As soon as they can complete another fusion with the rmaid royal bloodline they have, my head will imdiately be cut off to serve as a wine cup for the new emperor."
While speaking, they ca to a small door. Sander pushed it open, and soft yellow light imdiately shone out from within.
Perhaps due to the increased brightness, Sander's complexion looked much better too.
They entered this small room. Compared to the large palace next to it, this place was like a servant's quarters.
But there was much more furniture and furnishings here, making it look more cozy. There was even a four-poster bed with curtains.
Sander placed the candlestick on a small table and turned to Saul. "Lord Saul, I want to make a deal with you."
Saul knew Sander couldn't have summoned him just for old tis' sake. "Let's hear it."
"Can you help have an heir?" Sander asked with complete seriousness.
"Cough, cough." Saul couldn't help coughing twice. "Although I call myself a doctor, your problem... isn't within my capabilities. Having an heir is easy, but what the Tribunal and Evernight's people want is a child who has inherited rmaid bloodline. But I've examined you—the rmaid bloodline in your body can no longer be separated. Moreover, the rmaid bloodline in your body must harmonize with a specific soul body. This makes bloodline inheritance even more difficult."
If it were simple bloodline implantation, the Tribunal could easily accomplish it. But for rmaid royal bloodline to control the rmaids living under Red Sea Trees, it also required a specific soul body.
Soul bodies couldn't be modified—they could only be found among the vast sea of humanity.
This was why even the powerful Tribunal had never been able to find a replacent for Sander. In the end, they could only activate new rmaid royal bloodline and attempt to find soul bodies matching the new bloodline.
Sander looked resolute. "I know. If there is no real offspring, you can create a fake one.”
Saul imdiately warned him, "Even I can't guarantee fooling the Tribunal's people, especially Chief Frim."
Sander suddenly stepped forward, approaching Saul, looking up so Saul could see his eyes more clearly.
"Though it's a fake heir, it's also a true bloodline bearer."
A blue butterfly flew out from the corner of Sander's eye, dancing gracefully in his eyeball.
"What is this?" Saul actually discovered an independent soul body in Sander's eyes.
"This is my sister Mido. You rescued her from the cold seabed originally," Sander said. "This is the soul body for my future heir."
He stepped back, the butterfly disappeared, then turned to pull a huge wicker chest from under the bed behind him.
He didn't open the chest, but Saul already knew what was inside.
"Here are Mido's remains, and also the second rmaid royal bloodline." Sander stroked the chest, his expression heavy. "Actually, in terms of bloodline concentration, Mido's was higher than mine. That's why she was able to protect on the seas."
Saul stroked his chin.
Sander's bloodline could no longer be separated, and the probability of his heir inheriting rmaid royal bloodline was very low. But using Mido's soul body and the bloodline in her remains, there was indeed a high probability of creating another Evernight Emperor, possibly with even higher bloodline concentration than Sander's.
But doing this carried a very serious risk.
"You know the Tribunal doesn't allow the resurrection of wizards below second-rank, right? Moreover, when Mido died, she was just an ordinary person."
Sander was sowhat nervous. In his understanding, the only person who could do this while hiding it from the Tribunal was Saul.
"I know, but Mido's current state is very special. And... I can offer an ancient magical artifact as paynt for your risk-taking."
Saul's need for magical artifacts wasn't as great as before.
His own abilities and the power of fate lines were enough to outclass many powerful magical artifacts.
However, if there were magical artifacts as rare and special as the Chaos Realm Compass, Saul wasn't unwilling to consider Sander's request.
"What is it?"
"It's a Soul-Fixing Needle. Its function is very simple. It can make you instantly recover after a complete mutation!"
