After reading the diary, Saul very wisely retreated another ten ters.
However, looking at the scattered remains of Wizard Brown on the ground, he was unwilling to leave empty-handed.
"Little Algae, have your offshoot go see if you can sweep out that pile of building blocks?"
Little Algae extended from Saul's neck, opening its mouth wide to look at Saul, seemingly not quite understanding his aning.
Saul pointed to the pile of fragnts on the ground that had been Wizard Brown.
Little Algae's mouth stretched into a grin—this ti it understood.
With high spirits, it split off a slender black tentacle that crawled across the ground with a whoosh, forming a circle around Wizard Brown's fragnts.
However, when it tried to bring them toward Saul, it discovered Brown's fragnts were too small and would fall through to the back from above its body.
After trying twice, it still couldn't bring the pile of fragnts over.
Just as Saul was about to teach it how to split itself into a broom, he saw Little Algae's offshoot suddenly open its mouth wide, expanding directly into a one-ter diater circle.
Inside the circular mouth were constantly writhing tiny teeth.
It actually looked sowhat eerie and terrifying.
Before Saul could comnt on Little Algae's offshoot's appearance, he saw it clamp its mouth down on the fragnts on the ground, then its lips and front half began contracting and expanding in a writhing motion.
After a few breaths, it raised its head again, and not a single fragnt remained on the ground.
Saul waited for Little Algae's offshoot to return, then looked again at all the remaining block people in front of Old Days Manor. He raised his hand and waved, creating a strong wind that directly turned everyone into scattered fragnts on the ground.
Then he directed Little Algae to send out another offshoot to stir around on the ground.
The body fragnts of those people then mixed into a pile.
Now it was impossible to distinguish who was who.
Or to tell how many people there had been originally.
Finally, Saul carefully cleaned all traces of his presence and left the Old Days Manor area with Little Algae.
After walking so distance, Saul imdiately said to Little Algae, "Quickly spit out those fragnts. We're not sure yet if there are other problems inside them."
Little Algae nodded and directed its offshoot to "whoosh" and spit out all the fragnts.
The fragnts had experienced sothing unknown in Little Algae's offshoot's mouth—when they ca out, they were covered with so crystal-clear saliva.
"Uh... I should have waited until we got back to have you spit them out." Saul helplessly held his forehead.
Of course, he also knew that even though Little Algae was a demonic creature that fed on death energy, it still shouldn't eat such strange things casually.
Saul used a cleaning spell to remove the saliva from the fragnts, then collected all the corpse pieces in a cloth bag.
Returning to the wizard tower, Saul took out a small fragnt of Wizard Brown and placed it in a crucible, adding a few drops of pure water, unpolluted soul fragnts, and other essentially clean crystal debris.
Heating on low fla, in just a few dozen seconds, the originally semi-transparent white soul fragnts beca dotted with black spots.
anwhile, part of Wizard Brown's body fragnts lost their cubic shape and beca a small pile of soft mud.
"Still... the sa pollution as the black tide."
Camus, even from a distance, saw Saul's experint. "The peration thod can only conduct preliminary testing."
Saul didn't turn around. "But it can already reduce the pollution in these fragnts to a safe level. They can serve as filtering carriers for the magic reservoir."
As he spoke, Saul replaced the small crucible with a large pot half a ter deep, then poured all of Brown into it.
Seeing this, Camus was sowhat puzzled. "With more carriers needing cleaning, the materials required for the peration thod will also increase exponentially..."
Before she finished speaking, she saw large amounts of pure soul fragnts erge from Saul's fingertips.
Despite working with Saul for so long, Camus was still shocked by so of his reserves.
How did he have so many pure soul fragnts?
Pure soul fragnts were extrely rare and difficult to preserve. If one wasn't careful, they would be polluted and beco useless junk that couldn't be used but was too valuable to discard.
Despite having great doubts in her heart, Camus didn't speak. She just watched Saul restart the pot with complex feelings.
On the other side, Little Algae returned to underground level 2, burrowing back into the growing space Saul had prepared for it.
This place had already beco a small black swamp. After Little Algae burrowed in, it imdiately rolled around inside.
As Little Algae frolicked joyfully, black vine-like tentacles gradually erged from the murky black swamp.
These tentacles were as thick as an adult man's thigh, even thicker than Little Algae's main body. But they weren't as flexible as Little Algae and could only sway chanically.
These tentacles weren't pure black either—within the large areas of black, occasional thin white stripes like cow hair would appear.
As these tentacles swayed eerily, Little Algae's main body erged from underground again.
Its small form was completely inconspicuous among this group of giant tentacles, but the nearby giant tentacles completely obeyed its commands.
Suddenly Little Algae opened its shark-tooth mouth, and a small cube fell from between its teeth.
The small cube was black and white—impossible to tell which part of Wizard Brown's body it was from. Little Algae stared at the cube and tilted its head.
Perhaps it was thinking whether to give the cube stuck in its teeth to Saul.
But suddenly it smacked its lips, lowered its head, and swallowed the cube floating on the swamp.
As if tasting this strange thing for the first ti, Little Algae stuck out its tongue to lick its upper and lower jaws, then shook its head and burrowed back into the swamp.
...
Wind Sprite had been sowhat irritable lately.
Four of the hunting parties she had sent out had already lost contact.
Although it was normal for true wizards to have accidents in the Borderland, the wizards she sent out were all quite capable and knew to stay away from danger.
Moreover, the most dangerous tasks were done by ordinary people carrying testing instrunts.
Wind Sprite began spacing out again.
The attendant reporting to her imdiately lowered his head upon seeing this, not daring to speak up as a reminder.
However, since he didn't remind her, naturally soone else would call Wind Sprite back to attention.
"Wind Sprite!" A yellow glow suddenly appeared in Wind Sprite's cave. "How is your detection going?"
Wind Sprite was almost forcibly interrupted from her trance and felt sowhat annoyed, but when she saw it was just a firefly speaking, she could only helplessly suppress her emotions.
"No Storm Eye detected. But the Borderland is becoming dangerous—I've already had four teams disappear."
"Four teams?" Firefly Lord's voice showed so surprise. "Didn't you warn them not to go deep into dangerous areas and to have ordinary people do everything?"
"Of course I..." Wind Sprite was about to answer when she suddenly felt like she was following Firefly Lord's orders and unhappily shut her mouth.
After a mont, she continued, "I'll send additional personnel. You'd better not drag your feet either."
"Hmph." Firefly Lord snorted lightly, and the firefly suddenly self-immolated and fell to the ground.
Seeing Firefly Lord leave, Wind Sprite closed her eyes and said to the attendant still kneeling on the ground, "How is the magic reservoir preparation at the Purity Wizard Tower?"
"Across the magic-forbidden Rhine Lake, our people cannot observe specific progress. But judging from the materials he's purchased recently, it should have entered the final testing phase."
"What about my magic reservoir?"
"Still... still needs about half a year..."
"I'm only giving you one month. Prepare the shell within one month."
Wind Sprite opened her eyes again, her upturned brows revealing so coldness.
"After one month, I will personally go and bring his magic reservoir back intact!"
