After a refreshing bath and a light al that finally made him feel human again, Renard followed Sebastian through the winding corridors of the main house’s Fourth Wing. The butler’s pace was asured and dignified, but Renard could sense his own anticipation building with each step.
The Cradle Hall was located in the western section of the estate, housed within a building that had been specifically designed for nurturing beast eggs. As they approached the entrance, Renard noticed the subtle but powerful protective arrays carved into the stone walls—formations that maintained perfect temperature and essence flow for the developing creatures within.
"Here we are, young master," Sebastian announced, producing an ornate key from his coat. "You may stay for as much ti as you require, but you can only select one beast egg."
The heavy doors swung open with barely a whisper, revealing a vast chamber that took Renard’s breath away. The Cradle Hall was far larger than he rembered from his previous life—or perhaps it only seed that way because he was here alone this ti, without the pressure and competition of the formal ceremony.
The hall contained dozens of specialized alcoves carved into the walls. Each alcove housed a single egg, suspended in carefully maintained essence fields that pulsed with soft, multicolored light.
"Most of the eggs have already been claid," Sebastian explained apologetically. "However, there are still forty-three eggs remaining from the original collection of one hundred and twelve."
Renard nodded absently, his attention already captured by the remaining eggs. In his previous life, he had chosen quickly during the formal ceremony, guided more by instinct than knowledge. This ti would be different.
"Take all the ti you need, young master. I shall wait outside unless you require assistance."
As Sebastian’s footsteps faded away, Renard found himself alone with the eggs. The chamber was filled with a subtle humming—the sound of dozens of developing life forces resonating with the incubation arrays.
’Now,’ he thought, focusing his attention on the nearest egg. ’Let’s see what Prajna can show .’
There was good reason for his excitent. With this ability, he was confident he could choose an egg far superior to what he’d selected in his previous life.
He activated his ability and imdiately felt that familiar sensation of essence flowing to his eyes. His enhanced vision turned toward the first egg—a speckled brown specin about the size of his head.
Words materialized in his sight:
[Beast Egg: ??? Species]
[Beast Elent: Earth]
[Potential Rank: Uncommon-Rare]
Renard’s eyes widened with satisfaction. ’As expected!’
The Prajna ability worked perfectly on the eggs, revealing not just basic information but also elental affinities. This was an incredible advantage that would let him make an inford choice rather than relying on luck.
’Soltread was imnsely helpful, but I want to choose sothing better this ti,’ he thought, rembering his previous life’s partner.
Soltread had been a fire elental steed-type beast that Renard had mainly used for transportation. While very helpful, after he’d made a contract with Hati, he’d rarely used Soltread for anything else.
Looking at the current egg, Renard considered its rits. Earth elent beasts were known for their defensive capabilities and sturdy constitutions. They would reliable partners but the beasts lack in versatility. Most earth-type beasts were mild-natured, and since he couldn’t see the specific species, he could only guess what he might end up with.
Setting that egg aside, he moved to the next one. This was pale blue with silver veins running through its surface. He activated Prajna again.
[Beast Egg: Frost Salamander]
[Beast Elent: Water]
[Potential Rank: Uncommon]
’Interesting!’ This ti he could see the species na exactly. That was useful, though he still didn’t understand what determined whether the species na was visible or not.
Water elent creatures excelled in healing and adaptive combat, capable of both offense and support. Better than the earth type, but still not exceptional enough for him to decide imdiately.
As Renard continued his examination, he began to encounter different types of beasts.
Beasts could be divided into different elental categories, with four primary types forming the foundation:
Fire beats which were typically aggressive and destructive, specializing in raw offensive power and battlefield dominance.
Water elental beats were flexible and adaptive, offering healing, defense, and crowd control capabilities.
Wind elental beasts were Swift and elusive, focusing on speed, mobility, and precision strikes. Earth - Sturdy and enduring, providing defensive strength and battlefield control.
But beyond these basic elents existed rare affinities that marked truly exceptional beasts. Thunder, Light, Darkness —elents so uncommon that most tars would never encounter them in their entire lifetis. Every beast with such rare affinities was virtually guaranteed to reach extraordinary levels of power.
Most of the eggs he examined showed standard patterns—Fire-type Ember Wolves, Wind-elent Swift Hawks, Earth-attribute Stone Bears. All decent creatures, but nothing extraordinary.
Then, as he moved deeper into the chamber, one egg made him pause.
[Beast Egg: ??? Species]
[Beast Elent: Thunder]
[Potential Rank: ??]
Thunder elent!
Renard’s pulse quickened. Thunder beasts were incredibly rare, known for their devastating speed and paralyzing attacks. This was exactly the kind of discovery that made having Prajna worthwhile.
Moreover, the question marks for potential rank usually indicated exceptionally high potential—a very promising sign.
In the deepest corner of the chamber, almost hidden in shadow, sat an egg that looked completely unremarkable. It was smaller compared to the other eggs, with a surface that seed to shift between black and deep purple. Anyone walking by would have easily dismissed it as worthless.
Intrigued by sothing he couldn’t quite na, Renard walked closer to the egg and observed it carefully.
There was sothing odd about it. While most of the other eggs sat perfectly still in their essence fields, this one seed to have a subtle movent to it—not physical movent, but sothing deeper. Like the space around it was slightly... off. The shadows seed a bit darker near it, and the light from the essence field appeared to bend strangely at the edges.
The more he looked at it, the more convinced he beca that there is sothing special. His instincts, honed by years of experience in his previous life, were practically screaming that this was special.
So once again, he activated his skill.
