"Or am I really that intimidating?"

Sean’s question left his assistant on the verge of tears, stuttering, "No, no, not at all."

"Then why are you shaking?"

His words struck terror into her heart, and with a trembling hand, the coffee she was bringing to Steward spilled all over the plush carpet.

Both Sean and Steward were speechless, so as Carl and Roo who just walked into the room.

Poor girl was absolutely petrified. She frantically grabbed so napkins to clean up, but before she could even make a dent, Mr. McMillian and Carl walked in. Tears welled up as she stamred, "I’m so, so sorry, Mr. McMillian. I just ssed up."

It was her fifth day as an intern, and the last thing she wanted was to lose her job over this.

Seeing the commotion, Sean couldn’t help but think, "What kind of bogeyman is Roo, scaring the daylights out of a secretary? Is he always this harsh with the young ladies? Not a shred of gentleness?"

With this in mind, he raised an eyebrow, all the better to save his soft side for his sister.

"You can go," Carl interjected, coming to her rescue.

The secretary quickly bowed in apology to everyone before making a swift exit.

"My apologies, Sean, Steward. She’s new. I’ll bring in fresh coffee in a mont. You guys go ahead and talk."

While the secretary was a bundle of nerves, Carl was the epito of composure. After he closed the door behind him, Roo’s gaze shifted to Sean. Before he could even greet him, Sean cut to the chase.

"Have a seat." Sean had the air of soone who owned the place, his presence commanding as he lounged on the sofa with casual authority, "I’ll get straight to the point. I have a sister who was lost to us and found half a year ago. You aware of that?"

Roo nodded, her tone gentle, "I’ve heard."

"Then you must know about your engagent?"

"Yes."

"Have you t her before?"

"We have."

"My sister is a real gem - smart as a whip, quick on her feet, a beauty with brains, talented, knowledgeable, there’s nothing she can’t do." Sean rattled off his sister’s virtues without pausing for breath, "And you."

Roo braced himself for what was coming, sensing Sean’s visit might not be the best news. Was Sean here to say he wasn’t good enough for Rose? To break them apart?

Sean leaned back, eyeing Roo with a scrutinizing look, "You’ll do, I suppose."

Passable. Decent height, good looks, not a bad presence.

He might not wear as many hats as his sister, but being at the helm of the McMillian Corporation made him a fair match for Rose.

"I want you to win my sister’s heart."

As Sean’s words hung in the air, surprise flickered in Roo’s eyes, "Sean, you want and Rose together?"

There was a hint of surprise in Sean’s gaze. This guy was quick on the uptake, calling him by his first na, referring to his sister as Rose.

"It’s only natural for you to chase after her, isn’t it? Our families have an arrangent, and besides, you’re not interested in that Serena impostor, are you?"

Before Roo could respond, Sean answered his own question, "That’s sothing only a lapdog from the Cooper family could fall for. Your taste can’t be that bad."

"Sean."

"To be with my sister is your blessing." Sean cut him off, "My sister is a paragon of talent and skill, unmatched in this world. Anyway, you’re going to ask her out, and I expect to see so real progress."

Roo was puzzled. A date with Rose? Was he really getting this lucky? He knew that Sean was the fastest among the Collins brothers to approve of him and Rose together.

Still, Roo felt the need to clarify things.

"Sean, you might have gotten the wrong idea. Rose and I..."

"Just give it to straight, man. Are you seeing soone else on the sly?"

"No."

Absolutely not!

"Do you want to be with her?"

"Yeah, I do."

Of course, he did!

He wished he could spend every single minute of every single day with Rose!

"Can you surprise her? Make her happy? Be tender and considerate? Cut out all the distractions and focus on her alone?"

"No problem."

"Alright, I’ll rember you said that."

"But Sean, there’s sothing I’ve got to clear up with you about Rose and ."

"No need for explanations." Sean cut him off, "If you’re committed to this marriage, then you’re pledging lifelong loyalty to Rose. You’re gonna spoil her, respect her, be there for her. You’ve friended her on

WhatsApp, right? If not, I can help you."

He was a bit smug about it; after all, he was the one with his sister’s contact now!

"Yeah, I did."

Sean was taken aback. Even Roo had his sister’s WhatsApp? If he’d known, he would’ve asked Roo directly. It would’ve saved him from getting grilled by the family.

Rose was coming back to the Collins family, and as her future husband in na, Roo should check in, add her on WhatsApp. That was normal.

With that thought, Sean didn’t take it to heart, "I just got back to town and I’m out of the loop on cool date spots. Do so howork, pick a place, and send the address before you take my sister out."

Roo blinked. Was Sean planning on chaperoning? Stewart had never expected Sean to be so involved either.

With Sean’s protective nature, who would dare ss with his sister? Wouldn’t Sean’s presence add pressure to the young couple?

"I’ll get going," just as Sean stood up, Carl knocked and ca in.

"Leaving so soon, Sean?" Carl balanced the tray with three cups of coffee on it.

As Sean passed by, he picked up a cup and took a sip, "Oh, by the way, my sister’s more into lemonade than coffee. Might want to skip the café scene."

He placed the coffee back on the tray and was almost out the door when he suddenly turned back with a fierce warning, "I’ve only got one sister. If you ever let her down, just try ."

Carl flinched, not expecting Sean’s swift change of expression.

"Don’t worry, Sean. If I ever ss up, you won’t need to lift a finger. My family will tear apart."

Sean raised an eyebrow; the McMillian family was indeed capable of that.

"After they’re done, I’ll make sure you’re in pieces. Don’t forget it!"

Once Sean left, Carl was visibly confused, "Boss, what’s up with that?"

Why did he suddenly co in with threats?

"You go on; I’ve got this," Roo took out his phone to ssage Rose.

Rosemary, catching wind of the situation, was also surprised, "Last night, Sean was saying my boyfriend wasn’t good enough for , and now he’s pushing you to pursue . Who was he talking about then?"

If not Roo, who else?

"Could it be that Sean saw you with Jack and the others all the ti? When you went out on business, maybe he got the wrong idea, thinking one of them was your boyfriend?"

Roo’s suggestion seed plausible to Rosemary, "That’s possible, but it doesn’t make sense. Unless he saw the derelict building’s surveillance and thought Horace was my boyfriend."

So, that was why he said Horace wasn’t good enough for her?
