Given the outrageous actions of the T3 Research Institute over the years, the heat had beco too intense. So big shots couldn’t suppress it and could only stir trouble for Roo and his crew behind the scenes.
But Roo was prepared. Their arrival was akin to walking into a trap, only pushing them deeper into the abyss.
anwhile, Rosemary and Clark’s people had been manipulating, fernting, and expanding the impact of the events. In no ti, wave after wave of attention catapulted these incidents to the pinnacle.
The world was watching.
Many influential figures were dragged into the ss, scrambling to clarify their positions. Countless entrepreneurs released statents, their anxiety palpable. Even those who wanted to clear their nas couldn’t stop the spreading of these events.
Louisa sat on her sofa at ho, stunned by the news.
"What on earth is happening? How did the world turn into this? Did these issues exist before??"
"Oh my God, how could this happen??" Even the servants, seeing the news on their phones, were creeped out.
The world they lived in seed entirely different from the one being exposed.
At this ti, a servant ca in.
"Ma’am, Miss Temple is here."
"Crystal?"
Louisa hadn’t recovered from her shock when she saw Crystal Temple enter with a smile and an armful of gifts.
"Why do you always bring so much when you co over, dear? I’ve told you, you don’t need to bring gifts to our house."
"These are fruits from a distant relative’s orchard, and they’re really sweet. I picked them myself. And this tea, I saw it at an auction. They said it has a particularly smooth taste, so I thought I’d bring it for you to try."
As Crystal explained her gifts, Louisa hurriedly accepted them.
"Sweetheart, you’re too kind. Clark has been busy with work since he got back from his trip with Rose. Sit down for a bit, and I’ll give him a call."
"No need, Auntie. Don’t disturb him. I just ca to check on you."
"I had sothing to discuss with him anyway. I’ll go upstairs to get sothing for you."
Louisa was always uncomfortable accepting gifts from the girl, and yet Crystal always refused to accept any in return.
During her shopping trip with Serena today, she thought of getting sothing for Crystal.
At that ti, Crystal thought she had won the favor of her future mother-in-law and was overjoyed.
After Louisa called Clark, she quickly said,
"Son, Crystal is here again. What are your intentions towards her? Be clear with your mother. I think she’s quite good in terms of her family background, character, education, looks, and personality. I’m quite pleased with her. Why don’t you try dating her?"
At this mont, Clark was feeding Carol so dicine. His phone was on speaker, and he didn’t expect his mother to suddenly say such a thing.
Before he could refute it, Louisa continued.
"The girl visits us every now and then, shows concern for us, and always brings gifts. Last ti when I had a stiff neck, she gave a massage, and it was better in no ti—amazing. With Serena away for school and no young people at ho, she specially ca over to keep company, doing beauty treatnts and having afternoon tea with us. And your father, when his back was hurting, she brought soup, a massage chair, and even invited a renowned doctor to check on him. Despite growing up with a silver spoon, she doesn’t have the typical rich young lady attitude."
"Mom, mom."
Feeling the gaze of Carol and Dennis, Clark hurriedly interrupted his mother.
"Mom, I’ve told you many tis that she and I can only be siblings in this life. I have a girlfriend, and I’ll bring her over to et you soti."
As soon as Clark finished speaking, Carol quickly covered his mouth, signaling him not to say anything more.
Louisa’s words over the phone had already made Carol feel the disparity between her and Crystal.
Clark could feel the soft touch of the girl’s fingers. His lips lightly touched her hand, causing Carol to blush and instinctively pull away.
Dennis noticed that scene, only to fuel his anger. How dare he take advantage of his sister at a ti like this?
"You have a girlfriend? Since when? How co you’ve never ntioned it?" Louisa was shocked.
He had been dating for a year but never told his family. Dennis was even more angry.
Why?
Why didn’t he tell the family?
"Was she the sa age as you? What does her family do? Does Mom know them? Was she the daughter of a wealthy family?"
Before Louisa could finish her questions, Clark noticed a change in Carol’s mood and quickly interrupted.
"In any case, stop giving Crystal any hope on your end. As for , I’ll find ti to clear things up with her."
Louisa wanted to ask more about his girlfriend, but he had already hastily hung up.
Strange. When did her son get a girlfriend? Why hadn’t she heard anything?
Was it a recent relationship?
Downstairs, Crystal was filled with anticipation. Seeing Louisa co down, her eyes sparkled even more.
"Crystal, this is a dress I bought for you. I’m not sure if it fits. I wanted to see you try it on, but I have to run an errand for your uncle, so I can’t stay to entertain you." Louisa lied.
"That’s okay, Auntie. Thank you for buying so many beautiful clothes. I’ll go ho and try them on, then send you a video. I won’t stay to bother you."
Crystal politely excused herself, not forgetting to thank Louisa for her kindness.
Louisa watched her leave, wondering what kind of girlfriend Clark fell in love with. It would be heartbreaking for Crystal when she found out.
At Mystic Oak House, Dennis looked at Clark with a cold expression. Carol quickly said,
"Brother, you should rest first. I’m tired and want to go to sleep."
"I’m asking you," Dennis’s gaze was fixed on Clark as if trying to see through him.
"In the past year or so, have you been in contact with the heiress of the Temple family? Does she often visit your house? Are you close? Have you never ntioned Carol to your family?"
"Brother, I told you to rest first." Carol’s eyes were warning. She didn’t want her brother to interfere.
But Dennis was angry.
"This guy says he loves you, cares about you, looks for you everywhere, but he’s keeping a backup."
What’s more, the backup has already gained the approval of his family. His family must think the backup was better than Diana.
"Brother, you misunderstood."
Before Clark could explain, Dennis was already angry.
"I just heard clearly. Your family doesn’t know anything about your girlfriend!"
They had been dating for a year, but he had never told his family, so they were still trying to set him up with soone else.
The servants outside noticed that sothing was wrong and hurried to find Rosemary.
