"Rosemary, your family is so sweet, buying you all these goodies and even so for us. Myrna, let help you carry so. Next ti you don’t need to bring gifts. We’re all pals after all," Joyce offered, grabbing a few items herself.
"Must have been a tough journey for you, huh? How about you join us in our dorm for so coffee later? Not to brag, but our dorm is pretty neat, and the coffee Rose brought last ti was delicious! You’re going to love it. If you like Rose, you’re bound to love her stuff."
Mya chid in, taking so of the load as well.
Kelly instantly figured out who Myrna was. What a surprise to think Chasel could snag such a top-notch girlfriend.
Her family background was beyond just "impressive."
"Let help you carry so," Kelly offered with a laugh, finding Myrna to be very sociable and easy-going.
Rosemary also took a fair share of the items, saying, "Next ti you don’t have to bring anything; Joyce is right, we’re all friends here."
"I wanted to bring sothing for you guys." Myrna was pleasantly surprised by how friendly Rosemary and her classmates were. Lugging the remaining gifts in one hand and linking arms with Rosemary with the other, she chattered away cheerfully.
Once they arrived at the dorm, Rosemary brewed her so coffee, and the other girls brought out their snacks, pastries, and fruits.
The warm atmosphere brought tears to Myrna’s eyes.
One by one, the girls chid in:
"Have so fruit. I recently learned how to make a fruit platter online. See how cute my kiwi hedgehog is? What’s wrong? Your eyes look red."
"This is my favorite snack; usually, I can hardly bear to share it even when Joyce wants so, but since you’re here, I’ll share all the flavors with you. Try it and tell what you think. Wait, why are you crying?"
"What’s wrong? Did my pastry’s shape make you cry? Let take it away."
"No." Myrna quickly wiped away her tears and broke into a smile. "You guys are so nice. I’ve only felt this kind of family warmth once before in my life."
Everyone’s curiosity was piqued at "once before," with all of them chiming in:
"The first ti was?"
"No need to say. It must’ve been at Rose’s house, experiencing the family warmth there," Kelly laughed. "You’ve all t Rose’s family too; they’re really nice."
"Right, her parents are so kind, so warm, and so gentle."
"And most importantly, they’re all so good-looking! Try this kiwi; it’s really sweet. I even peeled it for you."
"You should try my pastry."
Touched, Myrna took the offered fruit and pastries, and after hanging out with the girls in the dorm for a while, it was ti for extracurricular activities.
"You can rest in the dorm. I’ll co find you after the extracurricular activities, and then we can go out for dinner," Rosemary said gently.
"No, it’s okay; I’d like to go with you."
Staying alone in the dorm could be boring, and it might be nice to see if Rosemary was tiring. If it was, Myrna could talk to the school about it.
While they participated in activities, Myrna sat under a nearby tree, watching them. Their extracurricular activities were quite simple, just marching in step and then turning left or right.
Compared to the rigorous training in the army, it was like night and day.
A wave of hushed whispers started to circulate.
"Did you hear? The top scorer is being kept by soone."
"Really?"
"Sobody saw her kissing an older man at the school gate last night."
"I heard she’s got a powerful background, and she’s the one who got the two Winters girls kicked out of school!"
"What? Aren’t the Winters family buddies with the McMillians? How strong must Rosemary’s background be to not even fear the McMillians?"
"After Noreen left, Enid also bailed. I heard they’ve already processed their dropout papers."
"Who’d have thought this academically outstanding student could be so petty? She can’t stand others. Could it be because Enid and Noreen are so attractive, threatening her position?"
Myrna turned to look. Four girls in uniforms were heading towards the school supermarket, probably to grab sothing.
One of them, a long-haired girl, said, "I heard she used so dirty tricks to get into the Collins family. She even bullied Serena! So annoying! If it weren’t for Serena’s kind parents, she’d have been kicked out long ago."
Myrna couldn’t hold back anymore. She quickly walked up to them and said, "Hold up."
The four girls turned around, puzzled at Myrna’s pretty but slightly angry face.
"What’s up?" they asked.
"You just said Rosemary used tricks to get into the Collins family? What’s that about?" Myrna was slightly irritated. "You can’t just say whatever."
"Are you a friend of Rosemary’s?" Delia Higgins couldn’t help but furrow her eyebrows. "How do you know I’m just blabbing? If you’re here to defend Rosemary, you’ve got the wrong person and the wrong place!"
The other three girls also backed Delia up:
"Do you know who Delia is? Ever heard of the Higgins family? The mayors have to be polite in front of her dad!"
"How dare you talk to Delia like this? Who are you? What does your family do? Do you dare to tell us your na?"
"I suggest you apologize to Delia; let’s just let this slide."
"Oh." Myrna thought it was so famous person, but it turned out it’s not even that. "You know all about Rose’s family? And you just spout nonsense; we can sue you for defamation!"
"Rosemary is no good!" Delia was furious, and she didn’t expect this pretty girl to protect Rosemary so much. ’What’s so great about Rosemary?’
Myrna was angry. "Is the school’s education ant to produce trash like you?"
"I didn’t make things up. Serena told herself! Rosemary only got the opportunity to study because of the Collins family’s support, so her top scores are because of the Collins family’s sponsorship!"
After Delia said this, she realized she’d said too much and covered her mouth. But then she thought there was no need to keep Serena’s secrets anymore, given how she’d been bullied. She had to let it out, let everyone know the real Rosemary!
She continued, "Rosemary, with her good looks and excellent grades, took advantage of the kindness of Serena’s parents and convinced them to adopt her. She beca their adopted daughter and moved in with the Collins family. How else do you explain her being called Rosemary Collins?"
Myrna couldn’t help but laugh. "So you’re saying Serena told you Rosemary is a sponsored student of the Collins family, and because she’s eloquent and charming, she beca the Collins’ adopted daughter? Is that really it?"
"Isn’t that the case?" Delia was puzzled by her question.
"How do you figure Rosemary is the type to play mind gas and sweet-talk people? She’s always straightforward in handling things, nothing like your roundabout ways."
