Before Rosemary had a chance to respond, Myrna continued, "So, when I found out tonight that Serena is not Chasel’s sister, but you are, I was pretty chuffed."
Rosemary couldn’t help but laugh at her gleeful expression.
"Rosemary, can I co visit you at school when you’re free?" Myrna asked.
"Absolutely," Rosemary responded with a warm welco.
"Aweso! I live in Sumrfield; you can co over to my place too. But the vibe at my house is a bit serious, not as chill as yours. Don’t be scared—I’ll have your back!"
With that, Myrna took out her phone, beaming with joy, and said, "Let’s exchange contact information."
"Sure." Rosemary took out her phone, and they swapped numbers.
Seeing this from the shadows, Serena clenched her fists in anger.
’So annoying! They swapped contacts so quickly!’
’What on earth did Rosemary give Myrna in the garden that made her so fond of her?’
’What magic did she use to win Myrna over?’
’Maybe she was trying to butter her up, knowing Myrna’s status?’
’Gross!’
At the entrance, Myrna reluctantly clung to Rosemary’s arm and said, "We’ve made a deal, so we must hang out when we’re free."
As Chasel’s girlfriend, she should buy more stuff for Chasel’s sister.
"Sure," Rosemary responded with a smile. "Chasel, drive safe. Bye, Myrna."
"Bye!" Myrna affectionately tousled Rosemary’s hair before getting in the car, saying, "Our little sister is so cute and lovable!"
"Buckle up," Chasel leaned in to fasten her seatbelt, and Myrna planted a playful kiss on his face.
"Well, you shouldn’t have gotten so close," Myrna teased. "Plus, your face is irresistible."
A hint of a smile played on Chasel’s lips. "Sit tight."
"Got it."
While driving, he asked the girl beside him, "You don’t find Serena cute or likeable?"
"She’s okay," Myrna’s reaction to Serena was lukewarm at best, as if she were just a stranger.
Chasel wondered, ’Why did neither Roo nor Myrna like Serena?’
’Myrna’s attitude towards Serena had never been as warm as her attitude towards Rose.’
’Could it be that Serena’s behavior was off-putting?’
As he drove, Chasel asked casually, "If I could only have one sister, who would you pick?"
"Definitely Rosemary!" Myrna’s expression was like, ’was this even a question?’
Chasel’s gaze deepened, and he asked again, "Why?"
Myrna: "Don’t you think she is thoughtful, kind, and gentle? The key point is that she is beautiful, elegant, smart, ticulous, and a joy to be around. Where else are you going to find such a perfect sister?"
Chasel glanced at her and said, "You sure know how to flatter soone."
"I’m only speaking the truth!" Myrna contemplated for a mont, then looked at Chasel and said, "There’s sothing you might not want to hear, but I prefer Rose to Serena. She has a broad perspective, principles, responsibility, reason, and initiative."
"Initiative? Do you an her ability to hit you?" Chasel couldn’t help but laugh.
"That’s not it! When did she ever hit ?" Myrna defended Rosemary. "If it were you and you found soone spying on your house, wouldn’t you confront them? Rose is super gentle; otherwise, I’d be shark food by now."
Chasel chuckled. Myrna really knew how to stick up for Rosemary.
Later on, Chasel dropped Myrna off at her doorstep, telling her, "Behave yourself and try to spend more ti with your family when you can."
In their line of work, being away from ho for months at a ti was par for the course.
Myrna wrapped her arms around Chasel’s neck, stood on her tiptoes, gave him a lingering kiss, then said, "You’re off work for the next couple of days. You’ll get bored hanging out with your sister alone. Why not take along? Girls have more in common, right?"
Chasel looked down at her, gently saying, "You should get back to work."
Myrna retorted, "No, I’m sticking with you!"
Chasel eventually gave in, saying, "Alright, we’ll head back together in three days."
Myrna exclaid happily, "Aweso!"
After saying her reluctant goodbyes to Chasel and barely stepping into her house, she received a ssage.
She thought it was from Rosemary, but to her surprise, it was from Serena. Her mood instantly deflated.
[Are you ho yet?] Serena’s ssage read.
Before Myrna could reply, Serena sent another ssage: [Rosemary grew up in a small town. I don’t know if she’s been influenced by the locals. What I’m trying to say is, you should be careful with whatever she gives you.]
Annoyed, Myrna replied, [What are you talking about?]
[The gift she gave you in the garden earlier.] Serena clarified.
Myrna realized. [So you’ve been spying on us since then?]
[No, I just happened to pass by and saw.] Serena quickly defended.
Myrna asked, [Do you have a problem with Rose?]
Just one night, and Myrna had already started calling Rosemary "Rose." That was fast.
[You’ve got it all wrong. I was just trying to be nice.] Serena replied.
Was Myrna already pulling rank, even though she just started dating Chasel?
Myrna retorted, [What Rose gave was dicine! To help my wound heal faster.]’’ After saying that, Myrna snapped a picture of the bottle and sent it over, saying, ’’[It’s made by a reputable company; I’m sure it’s fine. Besides, what does she stand to gain if sothing happened to ?]
Who would dare harm soone as important as Myrna?
Looking at the dicine, Serena could tell it must’ve cost a pretty penny.
’Who would have thought Rosemary would go to such lengths to win over Myrna?’
’She must be up to sothing!’
[I should keep my mouth shut to avoid good intentions backfiring.] Serena replied.
[Then shut up already!] Myrna shot back.
n might be slow on the uptake when it ca to emotional affairs, but she could clearly see sothing was up.
[I heard that when Rose first ca back to this house, it was only because she agreed that you could stay. Is that right?] Myrna asked.
Serena clenched her phone. [What are you implying?]
Myrna: [You should be grateful to those who’ve helped you. Your current lifestyle, the comforts you enjoy, and the respect you receive are all thanks to her agreent! Isn’t that reason enough to be thankful?]
Serena clenched her phone tighter, never expecting Myrna to side with Rosemary so blatantly.
Myrna: [Your parents only want peace within the family. And whoever stirs the pot, well, do I need to remind you what happens to them? Also, what’s wrong with soone from a small town? My dad ca from one, and look where he is now, all thanks to his own hard work! I was raised by him and beca a deputy minister through my own efforts. Do you feel threatened by people from small towns?]
