Just as Attlee was trying to walk through the entrance with his wife and daughter, with the invitation in hand, one of the security guards stopped him on the spot.
"Sorry, sir, which corporation do you represent?"
Attlee was taken aback. "Didn’t you see my text just now? Haven’t you heard of the Harris Group?"
"The Harris Group?" The security guard seed genuinely clueless. Today’s auction was filled with top-notch corporations, and he had never heard of smaller ones like the Harris Group. He hurriedly asked his colleague, "Is the Harris Group also participating in the auction today?"
"I’m not sure. It doesn’t ring a bell. Let check."
"Sorry, could you please wait a mont?"
Attlee and his family seed a tad unhappy being held up at the gate. "This is the text you guys sent to remind to co over today; how could this be an issue? Can’t a text prove my identity?"
Olga couldn’t help but blurt out, "He’s the richest man in Tranquil City!"
"Tranquil City?" The security guard in charge was visibly dumbfounded. He hadn’t heard of such a place.
Another security guard also looked lost. "Tranquil City? Where’s that?"
A third guard couldn’t help but whisper, "Sumrfield is divided into four districts, and the least developed one is the North District. The North District has four counties, and the least developed one is Seraphim Haven. Within Seraphim Haven, there are four towns, and the least developed one is Tranquil City. That’s the Tranquil City he’s talking about."
The other two guards were left speechless. They finally realized that he was the richest man from a small town in Sumrfield, not so big shot they mistook him for.
Seeing the bewildered and speechless expressions on the faces of the guards, Attlee and Olga felt extrely awkward. Even Yolanda felt the embarrassnt. Apparently, these guards were pretty clueless, not even knowing about Tranquil City! Even though Tranquil City was just a small town in Sumrfield, it shouldn’t be overlooked!
"How much longer do we need to wait?" Olga didn’t expect a hiccup, even before the auction started. Would there be any surprises today?
The guard who had gone to verify the information swiftly returned, "Sorry for the wait; please co in."
"Please pay more attention in the future. Rember, we’re the Harris Group. We’re going to win this auction today! We’ll be seeing each other a lot more!"
The four guards didn’t know where their confidence ca from. The presence of corporations like the McMillan Corporation alone was sufficient to put pressure on them, let alone other big corporations. However, they didn’t say much and made way for Olga and her group.
"Yoli, did you see that? The way those four guards were falling over themselves to accommodate Kenneth and Louisa. We need to elevate our status and beco part of high society, so we won’t have to go through such embarrassnts!"
"Mmm, I’ll rember that." Yolanda also wanted to uplift her status. She made up her mind to attract a wealthier man than Zachary today.
Attlee looked at the seat number in the text ssage and kept searching, only to find their seats were in the last row.
"Isn’t this too far?" Olga was a bit worried. "Can the auctioneer see us when we bid?"
"We’ll have to make do." Attlee didn’t expect the organizers to put them in such a remote spot, especially close to the restroom. Although dissatisfied, they couldn’t do much about it. At least they could attend the auction.
"At least we have seats. Look at all the companies outside that want to participate but don’t qualify." Attlee tried to comfort himself.
When they entered, they noticed many representatives from small companies waiting outside, hoping to et important figures after the auction.
"Those we’ve already t were easy-peasy; those outside have got to wait a bit!"
With these words from Attlee, Yolanda perked up, feeling there was so sense in what he said. But they were so far from the front that Olga was mulling over how to get chummy with those loaded ladies up there.
Suddenly, Yolanda piped up, "Mom, Dad, check it out, it’s Rosemary!"
Rosemary and a guy were strolling by, hand in hand. Due to the fleeting mont, Attlee and Olga only caught a glimpse of their backs.
Yolanda clapped a hand over her mouth, gabbing after a while, "It’s that guy from last ti!"
"Which one?" Olga was clueless about her ramblings.
"Last ti at Dawn Restaurant, I saw sis with this guy!" But last ti, Yolanda just speculated that this dude was loaded; she didn’t expect him to be so rich that he could attend this auction! This ant he was at least a big shot in these top conglorates. So young and already a high-flier. Yolanda was green with envy and couldn’t figure out how Rosemary managed to snag such a wealthy, young, and handso catch.
"At Dawn Restaurant? I didn’t see." Olga didn’t know who she ant, but looking at the guy’s back, she thought, "He seems young; I wonder which company he’s from. I didn’t expect that little girl to have a boyfriend so soon!"
"She’s the founder of LY; it’s only normal that she finds a boyfriend of the sa social standing, right? Besides, it’s not weird for her to date at this age; even Yoli is engaged!"
Hearing Attlee say this, Olga reminded her, "Yoli, rember this: if you find soone better, ditch Zachary ASAP, preferably before your engagent party."
"Mom, don’t worry, I got this." Yolanda, still staring at the guy’s back, exclaid again, "Mom, look, that guy and Rosemary’s seats are right in the first row, smack in the middle!"
The ones sitting with them were big shots like Kenneth, Louisa, and Hunter. People they wanted to suck up to but couldn’t! And they were all sitting with Rosemary!
"Yoli, don’t sweat it; once we win the land today, we’ll snag those seats in the future!"
Hearing her mom’s words, Yolanda felt better. Yeah, just win the land today, and they, the Harris family, would be back in the ga!
"But mom, where are we staying tonight? Still at the hotel?" Yolanda asked in a whisper when no one was around, "We’ve sold our last ho too."
"As long as we win the land today, why worry about a place to live? Worst cos to worst, we’ll move in with the old lady; she still owns a few properties; I rember there’s a villa in the suburbs."
Yolanda felt reassured, as long as they had a place to stay. The only thing worth ntioning they owned now was the Maybach. Everything else was sold off! Even the jewelry was gone! The only things left were the clothes they were going to wear for the engagent party; nothing else was left.
