Lilith suddenly stopped walking.

Her sharp eyes turned toward the crowd of reporters.

"Can’t you see she’s not alright?" she snapped. Her voice wasn’t loud, but it sliced through the noise like a blade. "Are your headlines more important than her health? Back off."

Everyone fell silent for a mont, stunned by her words. The guards imdiately stepped in and created a path through the crowd. Lilith didn’t wait. She wrapped her arm around Krystal’s shoulders and walked her straight to the car.

The drive was quiet.

Krystal didn’t speak. She just stared out the window, hands curled into her lap. Her breathing was shallow.

At the hospital, Lilith stayed by her side while the doctors examined her.

After so ti, the doctor ca out with a reassuring smile.

"She’s not physically hard. Just mild trauma. She needs rest and should avoid any high-stress events for a few days."

Lilith nodded and went back inside.

Krystal was lying on the hospital bed, her face turned to the side. As soon as Lilith entered, she blinked and turned slowly.

"I’m sorry," Krystal said in a whisper. "I didn’t an to make it worse."

Lilith walked over and sat beside her. Her voice was gentler now, almost tired. "You didn’t. It’s not your fault. I should’ve seen it coming earlier."

She reached out and tucked a loose strand of Krystal’s hair behind her ear.

"You’re safe now," she said. "That’s all that matters."

Hearing her words, Krystal turned her head slightly, her eyes still resting on Lilith’s profile. There was sothing in the way Lilith sat—her posture firm, her expression calm but there was also sothing else.

Krystal’s throat tightened as she looked away again, but the words slipped out before she could stop them.

"...You shouldn’t have entered the entertainnt industry," she muttered, almost in a whisper.

Lilith’s eyes slowly narrowed.

her sharp gaze looking directly on Krystal, who now looked like she regretted speaking.

"And you’re not one to tell what to do," Lilith said quietly, but her voice carried weight.

Krystal’s body stiffened, her lips parting for a second but no words ca. She lowered her eyes, unable to et Lilith’s stare.

"...Actually... and your mom used to be best friends..." Krystal said suddenly, her voice softer than usual, eyes not quite eting Lilith’s as a faint smile pulled at the corners of her lips. "Technically, we were like sisters... so you can call aunt or godmother if you want."

Lilith turned to her sharply, visibly startled, her brows furrowing as she studied Krystal’s face. She didn’t speak, but her eyes demanded an explanation.

"We were more than best friends," she continued, her lips curling into a faint smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. "We were like sisters. Your mom, Daisy... she was my everything back then. We were inseparable. Laughed together, cried together... dread of the sa future. We even used to joke that we’d live next door forever and raise our kids side by side."

"But things don’t always stay beautiful," Krystal said, and a heavy breath escaped her. "Everything started to fall apart when she fell in love with your father."

She didn’t need to say more. The bitterness in her voice was enough.

"He wasn’t a good man, Lilith," Krystal added, her gaze locked onto her trembling hands. "He made her life miserable. She stopped laughing. She stopped smiling. I tried to talk to her, to pull her back, but... she loved him too much. And he... he didn’t deserve even a mont of that love."

Lilith’s mouth parted slightly as if to ask sothing, but no words ca out.

"I know you probably have questions," Krystal said, looking up at her. "And I wish I had all the answers with . I—I don’t have it here, not now, but your mother gave sothing. A letter. Many years ago. She told ... if sothing happened to her, I had to find you and give it to you."

Lilith’s heart skipped. Her eyes slowly t Krystal’s.

"I wasn’t able to find you for a long ti," Krystal whispered. "You and your mother... you just disappeared one day. I thought I’d lost her forever. Then I saw you... here, on this set. The mont I looked at you, I knew. The way you walk... your expressions... you reminded of her."

She blinked quickly, trying to hold back tears. "I didn’t co to the set to act, Lilith. I ca for you. Because I made a promise. And now... after all these years... I want to keep it."

Lilith’s chest rose and fell slowly. She didn’t move. Didn’t blink.

"Where is the letter?" she asked after a long pause, her voice calm but heavy.

Krystal smiled weakly. "It’s at my apartnt. I didn’t think I’d end up in a hospital today or I would’ve brought it."

"What exactly happened?" Lilith asked quietly, her voice calm but with a sharp edge beneath it. She was trying to piece things together, but Krystal’s scattered words weren’t making complete sense. From what she gathered, her father wasn’t just a bad husband—he was soone powerful. Rich. And dangerous. And he had done sothing terrible to her mother.

Krystal’s expression twisted as if reliving an old wound. Her usually composed face now looked tired, even a little haunted. "Everything... everything is written in the letter," she said, gripping the bedsheet tightly with one hand. "Daisy wrote it all down. She wanted you to know the truth, one day. I swear, Lilith, I didn’t an to wait this long, but things just... got complicated."

Lilith didn’t say anything.

Krystal leaned forward slightly, her voice dropping to a serious tone. "We’ll go to my apartnt once I’m discharged. I’ve kept the letter safe. It’ll explain everything—what your mother suffered, what kind of man your father really is, and why she had to hide you."

Her eyes burned with urgency as she stared at Lilith. "You need to be careful...very careful. Your father isn’t just rich or cruel. He’s dangerous, Lilith. He has n, money, and no conscience. And now that he knows you’re his daughter... I’m afraid he’ll try to get rid of you. That attack today? It might have been him."
