After flashing her pitiful face to the reporters outside, they finally stepped aside, letting her pass. Lilith walked into the building, her expression instantly shifting back to its usual calm, almost smug look.

Ah! So tiring! she thought, a satisfied smirk forming. Who knew I’d be this good at acting?

She noticed the receptionist, Aria, watching her with a sympathetic expression. Lilith just gave her a brief nod, keeping up the quiet, sorrowful facade.

But as soon as she turned away, her smirk crept back, her heels clicking confidently as she headed up to her floor.

I’d be the best actor if I tried... pity the entertainnt industry doesn’t deserve , Lilith mused, barely hiding her grin as she walked to her workstation.

On her way, everyone in the office glanced at her with sympathetic looks. The icy beauty of the office had transford overnight into the sorrowful, tragic figure everyone felt sorry for. What a tragedy.

Her gaze shifted to the glass-walled office nearby.

she noticed Sebastian’s office door open, the lights on. She hadn’t seen him yet, but she knew he was already there.

Why is he always here so early? she wondered with a hint of amusent. This "human doll" of a boss was always so serious, so intense—even from a distance, his presence was magnetic.

And... very handso, she admitted to herself. In her past life, she hadn’t bothered with relationships, but if she ever did now, it would have to be with soone who could match her craziness. And Sebastian? He seed like he might just be able to handle the madness.

Lilith sat down at her desk, diving into her work with that mischievous spark still lingering in her eyes.

"Miss Lilith, today’s eting is critical," Marcus announced as he walked over from Sebastian’s office, his expression tense as he handed her a thick folder of docunts. "Boss told you need to prepare the presentation."

Lilith nodded, brushing off the concerned look he gave her. Pitiful looks again... she thought, suppressing an amused smile as she flipped through the docunts.

By lunchti, Lilith had wrapped up the presentation, handled a few calls, and was finally able to take a break. She joined her friends, Nova and Ava from the marketing departnt, at their usual lunch spot.

"I heard today’s eting is a big deal," Ava mumbled between bites of her food.

"Yeah, it’s supposed to be pretty intense," Nova agreed, nodding.

Lilith smirked. "I was the one who prepared the presentation."

Both of them froze mid-bite, eyes widening.

"Wait, you’re doing the presentation?" Ava nearly choked, staring at her in shock.

"Lilith must be really good at her job if she’s still here," Nova said, giving her an encouraging wink. "Good luck, Lilith!"

"You actually put the whole presentation together?" Ava asked, looking a little overwheld. "If I were you, I’d be nervous as hell..."

Lilith just shrugged with a small smirk, hiding her amusent at their reactions. If only they knew that standing in front of a room full of high-profile executives didn’t scare her at all—it was almost thrilling.

Suddenly, Ava nudged Nova under the table with her foot. Nova’s eyes widened in surprise, shooting her a look as if to say, ’Why don’t you ask?’

Nova subtly shook her head, mouthing back, ’No way, you ask.’

Ava sighed, giving in. She glanced at Lilith, taking in her effortlessly beautiful face and wondering how anyone could possibly hurt soone like her.

"Lilith," Ava cleared her throat, trying to gather her courage.

Lilith raised an eyebrow, her piercing blue eyes locking onto Ava’s, making her feel a bit intimidated, but Ava pushed through.

"Is Rayan Brooks... really your fiancé?" Ava asked, her voice hesitant and unsure.

Lilith’s expression went blank, carefully hiding any trace of emotion. Inside, she felt a spark of satisfaction at the thought of soon ending her ties with him, but she kept her face neutral. There were still things that needed sorting out, and she couldn’t let her true feelings slip just yet.

"Lilith, you need to break up with that bastard! I knew no man in this world is good!" Ava declared passionately, slamming her hand on the table and causing heads to turn. Her voice echoed, but everyone just rolled their eyes—Ava and Nova were known for their daily dramas. But today, people couldn’t help being curious about Lilith.

Nova, feigning offense, crossed his arms. "Excuse , I’m a man too! And I’m a good guy, okay?"

Ava snorted, waving him off. "Exactly, you’re a boy, not a man," she teased, making a face at him.

Nova gasped dramatically, clutching his chest as if wounded. "The betrayal!"

Lilith couldn’t help the smirk that crept onto her face. Their bickering was oddly refreshing.

Ava rolled her eyes at Nova’s theatrics and shook her head, looking at Lilith with a dramatic sigh. "See what I an, Lilith? This is why n can’t be trusted. They’re either dramatic like Nova here or absolute jerks like your almost ex-fiancé!"

Nova pouted, leaning forward. "Hey! I’m not dramatic! I’m... I’m just expressive, okay?" He put on a wounded look, trying to seem serious, but Ava just burst into laughter, patting him on the shoulder.

"Sure, Nova. ’Expressive,’ like when you scread because you saw a lizard in the break room?" Ava teased, eyes twinkling.

"That lizard was huge, okay?" Nova defended himself, holding his hands apart as if it were the size of a small dinosaur. "And for the record, I saved it! I heroically escorted it outside."

Lilith watched Ava and Nova bicker, a faint smirk curling on her lips. These little humans are so cute, she thought.

Ava turned to her, catching the glimr of amusent in her eyes. "What are you smirking at, Lilith? You think we’re crazy, don’t you?"

Lilith chuckled, giving a small shrug. "Oh, I just think it’s adorable how you two can argue about anything and everything," she replied, her voice carrying an almost eerie calm.

Nova tilted his head, grinning. "Adorable, huh? Don’t tell , Lilith—you actually like us, don’t you?" He waggled his eyebrows, his tone playful.

She raised an eyebrow, her smirk deepening. Like them? If only they knew. The thought was amusing. They were as fragile as glass, and here they were, trying to joke with the devil herself. But their innocence in all this was oddly endearing.

I love these little humans.
