The air in the room grew heavier, tension swirling like a storm threatening to break.
Enel leaned casually against the rough surface of the bed, observing Victor’s imposing figure as the red-haired leader lood over him. The faint light from the single source in the room flickered erratically, casting long, distorted shadows that danced on the walls. It was almost as if the room itself reflected the intensity between them.
Enel had chosen his silence deliberately. Revealing his true identity as Lenny, reincarnated would be too easy—and insufficient. The Lenny family had grown in power, in influence, but what truly intrigued him was their spirit. How far had they co without him? Could they still be swayed, moved, inspired by his presence? Each mber needed to be approached in a way that resonated with their essence.
Tomato, the fiery one, had been straightforward, besides, his spiritual pressure and aura was the only energy she had ever sensed, and her heart was an open fla, easily fed with just the right fuel. Perseus, on the other hand, required force—strength spoken in the universal language of battle. But Victor? Victor was a different beast entirely.
For Victor, it had always been about family.
Even now, as Victor’s piercing gaze bore into him and the older man spoke of death, Enel smirked. He already knew the older man wouldn’t kill him. He couldn’t. The faint glimr of warmth in Victor’s eyes betrayed his words, even as his tone carried threats.
Victor crossed his arms, his expression calm and in control. "According to Perseus," he began, "he quarantined my pups upon arrival because of you. When I asked why, he said I’d find out after eting you. So now, tell …" His voice dipped dangerously low. "Why shouldn’t I rip your neck in two?"
The flickering light seed to crackle in agreent, the room brightening and dimming in waves.
Enel chuckled softly, his smirk widening at the thinly veiled threat. "You won’t." His voice carried a deliberate nonchalance, as though the very idea amused him. "You know it, and I know it. My mother is a direct line from you, Victor. Everyone knows how much you doted on her, even after she betrayed you. You couldn’t even punish her yourself—you left that to your subordinates."
Victor’s eyes narrowed, but there was no denying the truth in Enel’s words. His claws remained retracted, his body language more frustration than malice.
"And now," Enel continued, leaning forward despite the groaning protest of his body, "here I am. A living reminder of both her betrayal and your love for her." He tapped his temple mockingly. "After all, you said so yourself. I look too much like him, don’t I? Lenny. Your precious friend... or should I say big brother. "
Victor’s jaw tightened. His claws, half-raised, lowered slightly. But his expression didn’t soften. "You’re playing a dangerous ga, boy."
"Maybe," Enel replied, his tone sharp with purpose, "but you need alive. More than you know."
Victor raised an eyebrow, his interest piqued despite his reservations. "Why don’t you enlighten then? Because so far, all I’ve seen is the offspring of betrayal. A parasite trying to crawl his way into my city."
The insult rolled off Enel like water off stone. Instead, his tone grew darker. "There’s a spy for the Fallen Angels in your city."
The flickering light dimd to near darkness for a mont before returning. The words hung in the air, heavy and foreboding.
Victor frowned, though a smirk quickly replaced his brief mont of doubt. "Oh really? And let guess—you know this because you know the spy? Or are you afflicted by them yourself? My pups tell your brother back at the elven city was touched by demons. I wouldn’t be surprised."
Enel shook his head, his confidence remained unwavering. "No. But I’ve heard things. Stories. About how this city was attacked by rogue Fallen Angels who escaped Lucifer’s hold. The aftermath wasn’t as clean as you’d like to think, was it?"
Victor’s eyes darkened, though his expression remained calm. "We dealt with the situation. My pack is loyal. The city stands because we protect it."
Enel chuckled again, the sound low and mocking. "Loyal? Was my mother loyal?" He tilted his head, eting Victor’s icy glare. "If Allison, a spliting image of your loving wife could betray you, imagine the others. The rot spreads in silence, Victor. Most won’t see it until it’s too late."
The words struck a nerve. In a flash, Victor’s claws extended, sharp and glinting, pressed dangerously close to Enel’s throat. The air crackled, and the light flickered violently, plunging the room into montary darkness before returning in a sickly glow.
"Don’t you dare speak her na again," Victor growled, his voice trembling with restrained fury.
Enel didn’t flinch, his smirk steady. "Then listen to ," he said, his voice calm and asured. "Trust , just this once. Let show you what’s coming."
Victor’s claws didn’t move, but his expression shifted slightly—a flicker of doubt breaking through his mask of anger.
"And if I don’t?" Victor asked, his voice quieter now but no less threatening.
"You’ll regret it," Enel said simply, his tone devoid of arrogance but filled with certainty. "Lucifer is desperate. This ti, it’s not just rogue angels. The Host from Purgatory is coming. The Fallen Angels who had broken free will be the least of your worries."
The flickering light steadied for a mont, but the tension in the room only grew. Victor’s claws retracted slowly, though his gaze remained locked on Enel’s.
"Then prove it," Victor said finally, his voice low but commanding. "Prove to that you’re worth the trust. And if you’re wrong…" He let the threat hang, unspoken but understood.
Enel leaned back, his smirk widening. "Oh, I will. But first i will need to have access to certain information."
"Like what... boy?"
"Everything about the city that its of relevance, naly its people. "
Victor paused for a bit but eventually nodded, "but first, you will have to join my pack. I will not give information to another."
Enel frowned at this. Even in such a situation, Victor was attempting taking control.
Then again, this much was expected. After all, his own request had been unusual too.
But that would an that Victor would automatically beco his alpha.
Alphas had certain holds on the pack that many would find creepy.
So tis even invading on the subordinates mind was possible.
However, Victor had indeed proven himself to be a man of quality.
Enel did not mind taking the oath.
