Chapter 776: 9. Health and happiness every day

He actually smiled at …

Does he like ?

If he wants to be in a relationship, should I accept? But I’m still so young~

He shouldn’t mind that I’m a ghost, right? A Ghost Envoy and a ghost, that sounds quite fitting, hmm!

If he wants to do anything… ghosts can’t get pregnant, so no worries about having kids—what am I thinking—

“…?”

Lu Li quietly watched Yang Chunxue holding her cheeks, whimpering non-stop, without choosing to interrupt.

Until the team at the riverside construction site noticed Lu Li standing not far away, their glances were filled with curiosity.

“Let’s go.”

Lu Li said softly, shifting his gaze away from the construction site.

They hadn’t discovered the body in the Scavenger’s hut, but they would soon. They hadn’t noticed the skeletal remains in the soil, but they eventually would. Lu Li’s unfamiliar face was not ant to be seen here.

“Oh oh…” Yang Chunxue snapped out of her reverie, floating behind Lu Li, gazing at his back with a look that was seven parts complex and three parts resentful.

They didn’t take the route they ca on. Lu Li passed through the end of a bustling street, approaching a residential house.

The abandoned car in the garden was conspicuous.

Yang Chunxue was sowhat foolish but not completely clueless. She belatedly realized Lu Li’s target was the house in front, and asked curiously, “Do you have other clues hidden here?”

“I received a call when I returned to the Detective Agency.”

Lu Li briefly explained the content of the “Healthy, Happy Everyday” organization to Yang Chunxue.

“You want to join them?” Yang Chunxue asked without thinking.

“I just need to understand it a bit.” Lu Li answered.

Despite being averse to trouble, external information was vital to know. Especially as a detective and a Ghost Envoy.

He pushed open the fence gate, stepping into the yard where sewage was flowing, with the oil slick on the water forming a colorful film, devoid of any beauty.

Yang Chunxue pinched her nose in disgust, even though the yard didn’t actually stink.

The window was bizarrely boarded up with wooden planks, and Lu Li walked straight to the door, raising his hand to knock.

Thump thump thud—

Was the knocking signal sothing like nine short and one long? Oh well. If no one opened the door, Lu Li would break in.

Liu Wenwei’s whereabouts were a mystery, though the issue had temporarily co to a halt, it had a profound impact on Lu Li, silently changing so things.

For instance, his actions were more straightforward than before.

Click—

The door creaked open slowly, revealing a narrow, cluttered entryway.

The sll of old and damp air drifted out, while Yang Chunxue peeked over Lu Li’s shoulder, suspiciously looking inside the door.

Lu Li’s eyes were on the electronic lock on the door.

The mix of a worn wooden door and intricate electronic devices was quite hardcore.

His gaze shifted, scanning the eaves and corners. Perhaps sowhere a cara was hidden, observing everything in secret.

“I’ll scout ahead.”

Right after Yang Chunxue said those words, Lu Li had already closed his umbrella and walked into the entryway.

The narrow corridor was stacked with boxes of various sizes, mixed with the sll of rubber and machine oil.

Buzz buzz buzz—

The noise of a fan whirring ca from a well-lit room.

The windows were sealed shut, the light source wasn’t from outside but from the glow of three monitors. A scrawny man with disproportionately large head, wearing a sun hat, appeared like an oddity in the already dim room.

His glasses reflected the glow from the screen, and he was typing furiously on the keyboard.

“Just a mont… done!” He hit enter. “Welco, welco, uh, sorry… didn’t know you… were coming today, didn’t have ti to tidy up.”

“You can see ?” Yang Chunxue looked around in surprise; she wasn’t showing her form at the mont.

The middle-aged man pushed his glasses upward, grinning slyly, “Since I dared to invite Detective Lu Li, of course, I have a few skills, hehe…”

Lu Li gazed at him calmly, “Is this organization just you alone?”

The man froze, involuntarily denying, “No… uh okay, currently it’s just alone, but if you join, there’ll be two of us, hehe…”

He was either not good at lying or not good at socializing, so he straightforwardly revealed the truth, hoping to impress Lu Li with sincerity.

Without a word, Lu Li’s eyes shifted to the four monitors.

One screen full of code, another with subtitles made of 0s and 1s rapidly passing by, a third showing surveillance footage, and the last playing a suggestive ani.

[Ah—]

A scream rang out, the pink-haired female lead in the screen was covering her private parts, the plot showed the male protagonist bursting into the bathroom, catching her in the shower.

“Hehe… hehe…” The middle-aged man laughed awkwardly at Lu Li, quickly navigating the keyboard to close the webpage, only to reveal… an animated wallpaper of swimsuit-clad girls.

“I…”

“No need to explain.”

Lu Li interrupted, looking at the monitor screen, “What’s going on with the construction outside?”

The construction team showed up just as they left, disturbing the scene.

Their timing was too perfect, too urgent.

“Demolishing shanties or expanding the riverbanks, I guess.” The middle-aged man wasn’t concerned; he hadn’t heard any news about demolitions. “Allow to introduce myself, I am the founder of ‘Healthy, Happy Everyday,’ you can call … Stalker. Ah, that’s too silly in reality… call Marcus, hmm… my real na.”

Yang Chunxue glanced at the takeout trash piled around the room, unsure about happiness, but sure it wasn’t healthy.

“There’s goji berries soaking in there.” Marcus picked up the thermos, shook it, explaining with a confident smile, “If we work together, no one would be able to stand against us—”

“I didn’t say I was joining the organization.”

Marcus’s voice halted, blinking in confusion, “But on the phone…”

“I said I would consider it.”

That was indeed what Lu Li said.

Marcus wanted to say more, but the phone rang.

[Drawing a long straight line to countless next stops—]

“Let take this call first.”

Marcus could only watch Lu Li walk outside, then turned his gaze to Yang Chunxue.

He raised his hand, waving timidly, “Hi.”

Yang Chunxue ignored him, floating out the door.

“I knew what you asked to check out was nothing good…”

A distant rumbling reached him, and a sigh echoed over the phone from under the eaves.

“What happened.”

“Chen Rong found sothing; she indeed has ties to the Sixth Psychiatric Hospital.”

“An inmate there?”

“No, wait, let check the data…”

A rustle of papers, Officer Wen’s voice ca through.

“Chen Rong, 22, started working after high school, is married, her husband reported her missing last month after she disappeared for two weeks and later returned on her own, then disappeared again a week ago.”

He paused at this point.

“Which ans she vanished during the Sixth Psychiatric Hospital incident, reappeared, and then disappeared again. I’ve checked this discreetly, haven’t told my colleagues or subordinates yet, my instinct tells this needs you to—”

“You’re right about your instinct.”

“Then…”

“Leave it to .”
