525: Forty-four.

Nothing has Changed 525: Forty-four.

Nothing has Changed Perhaps Lu Li should have acted like a true “Divinity,” hidden behind the scenes, maintaining silence.

All advices created by the believers, all journeys pondered by the believers.

The morning rays of light spilled into the church, and the soothing sound of the organ arrived as scheduled.

Lu Li, seated like a statue, did not wait too long before cries of panic suddenly pierced the tranquility outside the church.

Chaotic footsteps invaded the church, and the young girl’s cries for help echoed through the emptiness of the building.

“Help—Is anyone there…

Soone save !”

In the Confessional, Lu Li’s gaze followed the blurry figures moving across the latticed wooden wall.

The girl stumbled into the pews, loudly crying for help.

The only response was her echo reverberating in the hollow church.

But the girl noticed the confessional at the edge, seemingly perceiving a silhouette inside, she rushed to the door of the Confessional like clutching at straws, frantically grabbing and shaking the doorknob: “Is anyone there?”

No sound erged, but the girl was convinced there was soone hiding in the Confessional, crying and pleading, “Please help …

A bunch of bad people are chasing , they dare not storm into the church, they’re outside!

Please, please…”

However, no matter how much the girl cried and begged for help, there was no response from the Confessional.

The girl, her voice almost hoarse, finally gave up, believing that no one in the Confessional would help her, or that it was empty.

As raucous voices and curses rose from outside the church, the girl listlessly let go of the doorknob, turned to face her dire fate, when two pieces of rough paper spun to the ground beside her.

The girl bent over and picked up the two pieces of paper with writing on them.

One was nearly filled, while the other contained only a few sentences.

[Do not hide in the church, the sinners do not harbor Divinity in their hearts.

They might break in soon.

Hide temporarily and escape when they enter.

Read the second piece of paper after you’re safe.]

“Thank you, Father!”

The girl, filled with newfound hope, seed to exclaim joyfully as her blurry figure receded, disappearing around a corner out of Lu Li’s sight.

Outside the Confessional, ti did not hasten its passage with the girl’s departure.

rely seconds later, among noisy clamor, several figures barged into the church.

“This is a church, how dare you…”

The voice, along with the figure blocking the intruders, was cut short as it was pushed to the ground.

The intruders, like bandits, began to search through the venerable church.

“What are you doing?” a hoarse, aged voice asked as the priest appeared in the church.

“Looking for soone.

Did a girl run in here just now?”

“There are no girls here; you are the first guests today.”

The audacious intruders were not intimidated by the priest, nor did they believe his words, and continued to search the church.

“Lord…

please forgive these disrespectful heretics,” the priest murmured.

The church was not a suitable place for hiding.

Soon enough, having found nothing, the bad n turned their attention to the Confessional, seemingly the only place that might conceal soone.

The priest did not interfere, watching as they approached the Confessional and then violently ripped open the bolted wooden door.

Lu Li, sitting in the Confessional, looked up and locked eyes with the intruder who had torn open the wooden door.

As their gazes crossed, it was as if the intruder could not see Lu Li sitting in the Confessional; his gaze filled with confusion and impatience, he slamd the wooden door shut, causing the Confessional to tremble.

“The girl isn’t here, let’s go.”

A voice spoke from outside the door, as figures walked away from the church.

This seed like the best mont to demonstrate a “divine miracle.”

Lu Li thought.

So a few seconds later, a piece of paper shot out from a large hole in the Confessional, fluttering to the ground.

Unfortunately, it was a bit too late, as the bad n had already walked several ters away, unable to see nor hear the paper as it landed and made a faint noise.

The church returned to silence, the organ music that was interrupted by the invaders now flowed once more.

Lu Li’s gaze suddenly shifted from the departing figures at the doorway to a shadow quietly approaching the Confessional, bending down to pick up the scattered papers off the floor.

“Do you know your sins…”

The priest murmured, reading the contents of the paper, looking towards the confessional.

Even the wooden walls couldn’t block his puzzled gaze.

The result was different from what Lu Li had imagined, but it was better than receiving no response at all.

Lu Li picked up the quill again and wrote new content, passing it through the wide slot.

[The world needs your help]

“…Who are you?”

The priest’s question ca with a barely perceptible tremble.

Lu Li did not respond; it wasn’t necessary.

He didn’t know who the priest was, and he didn’t even know where he was, so remaining mysterious was the best option.

After passing out the paper, he began to write what he wanted the priest to do.

He had already written a copy before, so now all he needed to do was rewrite it, adding so content.

Clergy often have patience, including the priest outside the confessional.

Two minutes later, the anxious priest, full of eager anticipation, finally received the second “divine ssage” appearing from within the confessional.

[Olivia Kikan, her child has asthma and needs a large sum of money.

The destitute Olivia plans to intercept Viscount Rivis’s carriage, but there she can only find death.

Find her in the na of the church, and help her]

[Green Pierce, baptized na Arthur, you might rember him.

His daughter was bullied by thugs, and an impulsive Green killed them, only to be later killed by the vengeful gang.

Prevent all of this from happening, and save the poor Green]

[These events may be about to happen, or they may have already occurred.

Regardless, go help those in need of assistance.]

[And…

perhaps I will appear again.

Pay attention to the confessional, listen to my words]

Lu Li still hadn’t given up changing their paths and had made sure to leave a way to receive the church’s help when necessary.

If the priest was a devout believer, he would do sothing.

After reading the content of the paper, the priest seed to glance incredulously at the confessional before silently bowing slightly and leaving the nave.

There was no sound coming from the confessional, as if there was nothing inside.

After the priest left, the light and shadows in the church began to change.

The sound of the organ faded, and at the quiet twilight hour, a figure with a long, slender shadow entered the church.

It was Green’s daughter, whom Lu Li had seen on the upper level.

She ca to the church…

so the situation hadn’t turned for the better then…

As ti went on, whispers and crying echoed faintly, and a few minutes later, the crying girl left the church.

The priest did not appear to comfort her.

Lu Li knew sothing must have happened.

Rustle—rustle—

Two nuns sweeping the church entered, bringing the unchanged news of Olivia being hit and killed by a carriage.

“No idea what Father Thomas was thinking, suddenly going off to offend the viscount.”

At so mont, the chatting nun brought up new information.

“Who in Tafeng City doesn’t know Viscount Rivis hates the church the most?

No telling if Father Thomas will be subject to private punishnt.”

“Don’t worry, he wouldn’t dare…”

After finishing sweeping the floor, the conversing nuns gradually moved away.
