The caravan loaded with goods approached Citrus Tanuki Town situated in the barren land.
The caravan stopped at the gathering place outside the town, where the Flowing Demon temporarily left its cargo and ventured into the area filled with strange and deadly aura, surrounded by malicious and covetous gazes.
The Flowing Demon paused a few ters away from Lu Li, worried that getting closer might lead to losing sanity: "Mr. Soul, you can wait here. We won’t take long to sell the goods and set off again."
There were too many goods, so the Flowing Demon planned to temporarily sell off so of the goods and the wagon at a low price.
"What if they co to bother ?"
Lu Li, on the back of the Lava Demon, glanced at the Demons not far away who didn’t avoid eye contact, only filled with provocation and greed.
"I guess the town leader of Citrus Tanuki Town wouldn’t want to provoke you either."
The Flowing Demon trusted Lu Li’s strength enough to want him to stay outside only to avoid trouble—it was a trader, not a Demon that created chaos and destruction.
"Ask if there are any nests or commissions nearby for ." Lu Li said.
The Flowing Demon rembered and retreated, instructing its subordinates to unload so of the goods from the wagons, and began calling other caravan leaders to select rchandise.
Perhaps because the low-priced goods attracted the camp’s caravans, rchants quickly surrounded the Flowing Demon. During this, so Demons looked over, but the Flowing Demon shook its neck, refusing any trouble for Lu Li.
Lu Li quietly gazed for a while, and his calm eyes suddenly turned in another direction.
A demon with a human-shaped outline staggered, like an old newspaper blown by the wind, twisted and wriggled on the ground. Its barely recognisable face had crooked, asymtrical eyes, ears turned backward, a nose flipped in the middle, and a mouth skewed toward the chin, resembling a child-like simulation of humans.
The only "human" elent sensed from it was its language, emitting a twisted voice, as if strangled, pleading to Lu Li for help: "Help , Demons are catching ."
Lu Li watched the human-shaped silhouette for a mont, then turned his gaze to the demonic figure trying to hide behind, crawling slowly.
Lu Li let the human-shaped demon with worse disguise skills than a Phantom Demon approach. As they closed to about ten ters, madness seed to shred their little remaining sanity, no longer a disguise as a trap, they lunged at Lu Li—
The mist spread from behind, and the demons lunging at Lu Li vanished, and so did the other demon hiding behind the silhouette.
A low-level demon and an advanced demon attempted to disguise as humans, only the low-level demon tried to, the mid-level demon was the mastermind.
And with the precedent of a mid-level demon disappearing silently, distant demons withdrew their covetous gaze. These rchants enjoyed a superiority that stemd from their wisdom, their ability to think.
Thump—
A subdued dream threw out the corpses of two demons.
Lu Li stepped down from the Purgatory Demon’s back, patting it to indicate these were food; while the Purgatory Demon tore into the food with lava-dripping fangs, he gazed at the Flowing Demon returning with a tall demon.
"The town leader wants to see you." It said.
"Mr. Soul, the town leader of Citrus Tanuki Town would like to et you." The Flowing Demon translated for the tall demon guard beside it.
"Does it have a commission?" Lu Li asked.
"The town leader wants to see you."
The demon guard simply repeated coldly.
"Take there."
Lu Li did not refuse, letting the Flowing Demon watch over the Purgatory Demon, and followed the demon guard into the town under the watchful eyes of dozens of demons.
Entering Citrus Tanuki Town did not lessen the staring, instead, the closer proximity made demons along the way pause, watching Lu Li greedily.
It’s imaginable that as Lu Li’s human nature continues to enhance, even order may find it hard to protect him.
But perhaps that’s not an outco Lu Li didn’t desire.
The sole exception was the indifferent demon guard, which did not develop emotions beyond indifference towards Lu Li’s human nature.
Deep within the hostile town halted by malice, the demon guard led Lu Li to the entrance of a Manor House without gardens.
Faint sounds emanated from behind the door, becoming clear as the demon guard pushed open the door which had blocked the sound.
It was the sound of many cats owing.
ow—
Many pure-colored cats and patterned cats road in front of the door, behind which the lavishly decorated hall was as splendid as a noble residence.
Suddenly, Lu Li mistook the door for a Hell Gate to the human realm.
Hence the town was nad Citrus Tanuki Town.
Then Lu Li’s black eyes slightly lowered.
He thought of Anna who liked cats, could the owner of the manor be soone familiar...
Lu Li ascended the steps and entered the hall. These adorable Spirits greeted Lu Li, with tails raised, affectionately rubbing against his legs.
"Please wait here."
The demon guard left Lu Li, informing its town leader that the visitor has arrived.
Only Lu Li remained in the hall. He lowered his gaze toward the crowd of cats rubbing against his legs, stretching out a hand to stroke their raised heads.
"Look... what an enticing aura..."
A gentle whisper suddenly echoed in the empty hall, shifting Lu Li’s attention from the cats to the second floor above the stairs, but found no source of the voice.
"What beautiful eyes..."
The praise seed closer than before, as if an unseen shadow were hovering nearby, admiring Lu Li’s dark eyes.
"You must be stunning when you beco a cat..."
Lu Li maintained calm while searching for the sound source, as the invisible Dreamwalker quietly spread.
"Let help you, it won’t hurt much..."
As the whisper sounded, a jellyfish-like transparent silhouette drifted in the air, swinging tentacles, invading the dreamscape.
Inside the transparent silhouette enfolded a lifelike black cat corpse, appearing to miss only a suitable soul to awaken.
Lu Li realized sothing, glanced at the crowd of cats at his feet, seemingly seeing the sorrow and pain in those gem-like pure and beautiful cat eyes.
They weren’t real cats...much like Lu Li, souls forcibly cramd into cat bodies.
Citrus Tanuki Town...
Lu Li then extended his left hand, gripping the swinging tentacles, the transparent silhouette drifting overhead.
"Why can you see ...so painful...so painful...let go!"
The once gentle surprised voice abruptly scread due to the scorching of Redemption Fragnts, the transparent silhouette struggled but couldn’t escape the Dreamwalker and Lu Li’s grasp.
When the demon guard rushed into the hall upon the commotion, the transparent silhouette assaulting Lu Li had already beco part of humanity.
pieces, the transparent silhouette with no resistance, killed by the continuing damage from the Power of Redemption, was actually an advanced demon.
"Who attacked ?"
Lu Li asked the demon guard rushing toward him.
"Stealing Demon, our town leader."
The demon guard rushing toward him answered, making the surrounding cats bolt away.
"I killed it, now am I the new town leader, right?"
The demon guard poised to attack paused at his words, then knelt on one knee before Lu Li, gazing at him while responding deeply: "Yes, Town Leader."
Lu Li looked down at the cats reassembling around him: "Take to the town leader’s treasure room."
