Inside a dark room, a man was standing near the window staring into space lost in thoughts, or rather pondering about sothing he was yet to understand. He took a deep sip of the red drink he was holding before he reached in and grabbed his phone from his pocket. Dialling so numbers, it only took two rings and the other person received.

"Who is she?" Alaric asked taking another sip from his glass, his eyes glowing with a hidden glint.

"I don’t know either," The other person replied.

"Playing gas with , Finn? That’s a dangerous choice. I know you and Zander are up to sothing." The room temperature dropped as he almost crushed his phone under his palms. Though he was sure his brothers would not ss with him, the situation before him said otherwise.

"What happened?" Finn replied after a few seconds of silence.

"I couldn’t compel her, and you know only a few people like that exist. How is it possible?"

"I don’t know either. Neither of us could do it also, that’s why we decided to bring her to you."

"But you didn’t care to inform ?"

Finn exhaled deeply before replying, "You might have snapped her neck if I did, thinking she’s one of them."

"And you think I won’t do it now?" Alaric swung the remaining liquid in his glass before taking the last gulp.

"You won’t." A definite reply ca from Finn.

"Don’t be so sure, I have other thods to get out information out of her now that she has so ambiguous love feelings for ." Silence crept in after Alaric’s declaration which took Finn by surprise. "Don’t act innocent, I know that was your and Zander’s plan all along. What I need to know is, why?"

"You can find out that yourself too, brother."

Alaric smirked before saying, "If you are not here in the next three days, I’ll do worse than killing her. And Zander too." Then he hanged up.

Only one person had managed to deceive him in his whole lifeti and until then, he was always a step ahead of everyone he was associated with. The mont his brothers asked him to look after the noisy girl, he knew sothing as off and that was the main reason he had accepted. Though they told him so concepts about the werewolves looking for her, he sensed there was more to it. Now he just needed to find out what it was.

Inwardly, he felt a dark thrill with the thought of manipulating her to uncover what she was hiding under sleeves. He would use her developing feelings for him. His lips ford a curve rembering her erratic heartbeats when he touched and pulled her to his arms. The pain on her face when he told he was not interested in her. That was just a part of his plan to confirm his suspicion. So, from the beginning she was just a tool for him to uncover who was behind her and conspiring against him by sending a girl, as they always do. But there was a little confusion he could not understand. If she was an enemy, why would she bear feelings for him which he knew they were not faked? This ti, he had to admit they did find a good one. If he was not keen, he would have definitely fallen for her innocence and crazy character.

"Let the chase begin." He closed his hand around the glass until it shattered into pieces, leaving tiny cuts on the hand that healed in a blink of an eye.

***********

In her room, Ravenna was oblivious to the grand sche she was entangled in, caught in between forces beyond her knowledge or rather she had forgotten about. Werewolves, her forgotten family, and vampires who were now her new family, and enemies in the dark.

She was humming the sa tune that she always thought was from her forgotten mories, while brushing her hair as she admired herself in the mirror with a blushful smile. Her mind was filled with Alaric and thoughts of how and when she started liking him. That question never left her mind and maybe it never will until she got answers. She had heard of love at first sight but she was hell sure that was not it for her. They had a bad start that night which she would never forget. If she were asked, she would say his chiselled physique was the only thing of intrigue that night. That was what she thought.

"I’ll lose my mind if I keep obsessing over that ice cube guy."

Ravenna walked out of her room with her pyjamas and headed down for dinner. Her heart was in a ss thinking of facing him in the dining now that she had realized her blossoming emotions. Fortunately, or unfortunately, Alaric did not show up even when she was done eating. With a sullen mood, she returned to her room and slept off to forget the stressful yet eventful day she had.

The next morning, she was awoken by a knock on the door. Unfortunately for her, she had no phone nor watch to check the ti so she just dragged her sleepy self and opened the door.

"What do you want?" She asked her eyes still half opened due to sleepiness.

"Good morning, Miss. Sir asked to call you downstairs." It was Luke, the cutie pie.

Ravenna’s eyes shot wide open as if she had been splashed with water. A cheeky, blushful smile ford on her face as she looked at him. Having seen his cute face early in the morning did work like magic as her sleep was fully thrown away.

"Waaah! Cutie pie I missed you so much. Where did you go leaving alone in this big house? Do you know how I have suffered?"

Luke almost rolled his eyes at her dramatic reaction. "But Sir Alaric was here."

Ravenna’s smile disappeared with the ntion of that na. Her heart that was calm suddenly started thumping uncontrollably. Her breathing beca haggard, her mind filled with his cold, warm and smiling images.

"Miss Ravenna, are you okay?" Luke enquired watching her struggle to breath, and he could as well hear her rapid heartbeat.

Ravenna blinked unceasingly gasping for air, and shook her head vigorously, indicating a rejection.

"Am not okay... Haa... How can I be okay when am falling in love too fast?" With that, she went back into her room and closed the door, leaving a confused Luke wondering what had taken over her. If only he knew.
