Brooke Osborne looked a bit troubled, "Another house? Mr. Spencer already bought one in the Capital City..."
She felt sowhat embarrassed, unable to voice her thoughts.
"In that case, I’ll ask Mr. Spencer to buy another one then. Hopefully, it’s in the sa neighborhood, how nice would it be for us to live as next-door neighbors!" Mrs. Osborne was imrsed in her beautiful fantasies but suddenly rembered sothing and asked, "And what about Mr. Spencer? Is he going to the Capital City? We can’t let him just send you off alone."
"Yes, he’s going with us. He said he wants to help Kenneth oversee the house construction. Kenneth, after all, lacks experience, whereas Mr. Spencer has been building houses for decades," Brooke said honestly.
Mrs. Osborne’s eyes darted around.
She was more astute than Brooke and, after years of worldly life, wasn’t afraid to suspect anyone showing interest in her son with the worst of intentions.
"... Mr. Spencer does such big business and still wants to help our Kenneth build a house? How free must he be?" Mrs. Osborne pursed her lips, determined to keep a close watch on Caron Spencer to see what he was up to.
After Brooke left with little Winter, Mrs. Osborne spent a mont excitedly by herself and went to chat with Mr. Osborne.
Between the lines, she praised Kenneth to the skies.
Mr. Osborne was also delighted, smiling as he said, "That kid truly is smart; let’s go to the Capital City to see them. I miss him too."
After talking with Mr. Osborne, Mrs. Osborne wasn’t satisfied. She spent a mont by herself, then went to the glasshouse with an ocean view to make a phone call to her sister, Joan Lawson.
But Joan Lawson, unlike her, was not retired and had a free schedule.
This was probably working hours.
As a bigwig in the obstetrics and gynecology departnt at River City First Hospital, her daily schedule was very packed.
Mrs. Osborne called for a long ti, but no one answered.
She had to give up.
During dinner, Caron Spencer returned, bringing with him his two daughters, Spring Spencer and Sumr Spencer, as well as Sumr’s husband, Blake Leaf.
He cheerfully said, "It’s perfect timing; both Spring and Sumr, along with little Blake, are back. I invited them over for dinner and to see your little brother."
Spring and Sumr gathered around Mrs. Osborne to greet little Winter.
Seeing him plump and fair, as cute as a little boy in a New Year’s picture, the two sisters actually felt a fondness for him.
Brooke had received a call from Caron that afternoon, knowing these people were coming for dinner, so she had already instructed the kitchen to prepare a large table of dishes.
At this mont, she was in the kitchen directing the maids to serve the dishes one by one.
Caron ca over to her with a pipe in his mouth, smiling as he said, "You don’t need to busy yourself; let these people handle it."
Brooke washed her hands and walked to the living room with him, softly asking, "Weren’t they in the Capital City? Why did they co back suddenly?"
Caron’s face turned somber, and he snorted, saying, "Sumr got into trouble and sneaked back to admit her fault. Spring ca back because of her, to ask her mom for help."
Brooke looked at him with confusion, whispering, "... Are they that close as sisters?"
The open and covert strife between Spring and Sumr was apparent even to soone new to the Spencer Family, like her.
Caron chuckled, saying with emotion, "Spring is like . Although sisters may quarrel, she won’t ignore serious matters concerning the Spencer Family."
"This trouble that Sumr got into, if not handled well, could cause a huge loss for our Spencer’s Group."
"Is it that serious?" Brooke also beca serious, "Could you tell more, Mr. Spencer? I don’t want to be in the dark about this and inadvertently affect our Winter."
"Yes, I will tell you." Caron had co specifically to discuss this with her, "Sumr was too eager for quick success in the Capital City, becoming sowhat reckless and offending the heirs of the Harlow Family and the Stetford Family. If not handled correctly, they would directly target the Spencer Family, as solely targeting Sumr would not appease their anger."
Brooke listened intently, adding, "Spring’s mother is from the Harlow Family, so she returned to ask her mother to intervene with the Harlow Family on Sumr’s behalf?"
"Yes, her mother still listens to Spring," Caron said with a sigh, "I must go to the Capital City; if the route through Qinfeng doesn’t work, I must explore other avenues in the Capital City."
Brooke was taken aback, "Mr. Spencer, haven’t you always been doing business in the Southern Region? Do you really know people in the Capital City?"
Caron was amused by her expression, laughing heartily. He cheekily lifted her chin, saying with a smile, "Do you think I’ve only been doing business in the Southern Region and don’t know anyone in the Capital City? I tell you, if I hadn’t had contacts in the Capital City back then, I wouldn’t have made my first bucket of gold—hahaha!"
