Lawrence Winters and Kenneth Osborne couldn’t help but exchange glances, both pondering why Caron Spencer was here at the hospital after three days.
Could it be that he’s here to stir up trouble while Nick Zeller’s wounds are just starting to heal?
Or is he rely here for a visit?
Lawrence was thinking quickly and soon concluded that Caron must simply be visiting.
Because Nick’s improvent was a coincidence, especially since Ian Lothrop performing his surgery was quite unexpected.
She prompted Kenneth with a look to exit the elevator first.
Kenneth took the hint, stepped out ahead, and smiled at Caron Spencer, saying, "Mr. Spencer, are you here for registration or visiting the patient?"
Caron glanced at him, anxious, and replied curtly, "I’m here to see soone. Are you leaving already?"
By this ti, Lawrence had already ssaged Gabrielle Winters, warning her to be cautious since Caron Spencer was there.
Gabrielle replied imdiately: Got it.
In the patient ward, Nick Zeller was already inford and felt no desire to deal with Caron. So, he coordinated his response with Gabrielle.
Lawrence knew Gabrielle and Nick were prepared, so she felt at ease and stepped out of the elevator too.
She wore a blank expression, saying flatly, "Kenneth, let’s go. We need to get food; my mom’s stomach isn’t well, and she can’t eat the hospital food."
She rely nodded at Caron Spencer without saying anything, pulling Kenneth along.
Kenneth turned back with a apologetic look toward Caron and said, "Mr. Spencer, please go ahead. We’re going back to pick up so things."
Francis Johnson hadn’t said much the whole ti.
He maintained a mild smile and followed Lawrence and Kenneth out of the elevator, not greeting Caron either.
Caron, unfamiliar with him, knew of his na but had never t him, so didn’t pay him any mind.
Leaving the hospital, Francis went back to wrap things up while Lawrence and Kenneth returned to the flat.
The old Daoist was already waiting at ho, having packed the freshly prepared als and soup into thermal containers and placed them on the dining table.
Seeing Lawrence and Kenneth return, the old Daoist looked at them expectantly and asked, "How is your master? Is he feeling better?"
Lawrence smiled and said, "Much better. We got a skilled doctor to perform the surgery today. He’s already awoken but needs to recover for so ti."
The old Daoist exhaled deeply, bowed toward the western direction, and murmured, "Oh Three Pure Ones above, please bless the disciples with smooth and safe paths."
Lawrence followed suit respectfully.
Kenneth stood aside, hands tucked in his pants pockets, silently, expressionless.
After the grandfather and grandson finished their rites, Kenneth asked, "Old Immortal, my uncle just woke up and we want to bring so food to him and my mother-in-law."
The old Daoist chuckled and said, "I’ve already prepared everything, calculated the ti you’d be back to get it, and packed everything in the dining room."
"What? Grandmaster, your foresight is amazing!" Lawrence extended her thumbs up, "Would you like to visit my master at the hospital?"
"Um, I won’t go. I’ve been cooking all day, I’m tired, I’ll go rest for a while." The old Daoist massaged his waist and quickly retreated to his room.
Watching the old Daoist’s back, Lawrence couldn’t shake the impression of an "escape," murmuring, "Grandmaster seems afraid to see my master... Is it just my imagination?"
Kenneth ca out of the dining room with several food containers, speaking lightly, "Not just your imagination, I sensed it too."
They exchanged a glance, puzzled by the old Daoist’s ulterior motives.
But at the mont, they didn’t have the ti to delve into the issue.
After all, the old Daoist was over eighty, wise with age, surely having his reasons for his actions, and as juniors, they weren’t in a position to criticize.
Lawrence now only worried about Caron Spencer visiting Nick Zeller, fearing any trouble might arise.
She hurried Kenneth to return to the hospital.
On the way, Lawrence rembered Gabrielle and Nick’s situation, thinking it would be unfitting not to inform Kenneth, otherwise, he’d keep calling Nick "Uncle," which would be awkward.
So, Lawrence hinted gently, "Kenneth, my master isn’t really my uncle, you know."
"Hmm."
"Um, my mom has decided to be with him. Once my master fully recovers, they might get registered." As Lawrence finished, she saw Kenneth almost losing grip on the steering wheel.
The tires screeched loudly, leaving a noticeable mark on the black asphalt road.
