Spring Spencer declined initially, but since Blake Leaf insisted, she accepted the invitation.
The two drove separately to a nearby mid-range seafood restaurant.
Blake Leaf said apologetically, "Ms. Spencer, how about this place? It’s not a fancy restaurant, but the food is pretty good."
Spring Spencer laughed and said, "I’m so hungry right now, I’m just glad to have sothing to eat. How could I be picky?"
The two laughed as they walked into the restaurant.
After they sat down, Blake Leaf carefully observed the dishes Spring Spencer ordered and then ordered dishes with similar flavors.
Seeing this, Spring Spencer asked with so surprise, "Do you also like this kind of taste?"
"It’s alright. Mainly, it’s easy on the stomach. I often work overti and stay up late, so my digestion isn’t great. I prefer lighter food," Blake Leaf said with a gentle smile.
Soon, the dishes were served, and Blake Leaf and Spring Spencer ate and chatted, having a pleasant conversation.
After the al, the two went to a teahouse for so tea.
It was then that Spring Spencer said to Blake Leaf, "I’m no longer the CFO of Spencer Group."
Blake Leaf was stunned, "Not anymore? What happened? Did sothing go wrong?"
Spring Spencer smiled and said, "There was a mistake in an acquisition, so I resigned."
"Oh no, that’s such a pity." Blake Leaf sighed, "So, where is Ms. Spencer working now?"
Spring Spencer laughed and said, "Don’t call Ms. Spencer, that’s so outdated. Nowadays, people who are called ’Miss’ are rarely considered proper. Just call Spring, or you can even call ’Ah Chun’, that’s what my family calls ."
Blake Leaf got goosebumps upon hearing that, quickly recovered, and with a smile said, "Then I’ll call you Spring. You can call Blake."
"Okay, Blake." Spring Spencer smiled with eyes curved, "I just arrived in Capital City and don’t have many familiar friends. eting soone familiar like you really feels like fate."
"No doubt about it," Blake Leaf laughed happily, "I feel lucky too. If I hadn’t t you, Spring, I would have ended up having my first ho deposit flying out the window."
He was referring to the car repair money.
Spring Spencer smiled with lips pursed, a lock of hair slipped from behind her ear to her fair cheek, adding a touch of allure.
Blake Leaf was montarily entranced.
Spring Spencer picked up the teapot, poured him a cup, then poured herself one, and raised it, saying, "...Here’s to fate."
Blake Leaf promptly raised his teacup, nodded with a warm smile in his heart.
After finishing the tea, Blake Leaf asked again, "So Spring, where are you working now?"
Spring Spencer smiled and shook her head, "I’m currently unemployed, taking a break for now. Maybe I’ll dabble in investnts if an opportunity arises later."
"Investnts?!" Blake Leaf widened his eyes, then chuckled, "We’re really not on the sa path. For soone like , finding a decent job is satisfying enough. But you guys have worked for others, even if you don’t work, you can still invest behind the scenes. I really envy you."
Spring Spencer humorously said, "I can afford to be so carefree because I have a great dad. The trust fund he set up for is so ample that I couldn’t spend it in ten lifetis, so I’m just taking a bit of it to invest and try my luck."
Talking about parents, Blake Leaf paused for a while, then said with so sadness, "Originally, I might have had such opportunities too... unfortunately..."
"Seems like there’s a story?" Spring Spencer tilted her head and squinted with a smile, "Am I lucky enough to hear this story?"
"It’s not really a secret." Blake Leaf shook his head with a bitter smile, "All my friends know about it."
With that, he recounted his background, ending with a grinding expression, "The most hateful are my sister and brother-in-law! They didn’t want to raise , so they gave away! I’d rather they sent to an orphanage than just giving to a family of disabled people! Do you know how tough my life has been growing up?!"
When Blake Leaf reached the painful part, he couldn’t help but start crying.
Spring Spencer didn’t expect this situation and quietly watched him.
After he finished crying, she handed him a tissue and said sympathetically, "So, half the properties on that brand-studded street in C City were left by your parents?"
"Yes." Blake Leaf blew his nose with the tissue, speaking in a muffled voice, "The Ride Wind Comrcial Properties in C City is owned by my sister Su Changfeng and brother-in-law Nathan. But the properties owned by that company were clearly left by my parents!"
"But you have inheritance rights..." Spring Spencer said in surprise, "Even if they gave you away..."
"They had my adoptive parents arrange formal adoption papers, so I’ve got no inheritance rights to the Somrs Family property." Blake Leaf said with a wry smile, "A twisted arm can’t win against a big thigh..."
