Brooke Osborne rested her head on his shoulder and said softly, "Don’t say that, you’re not old. You’re my great benefactor and the father of my child. You’re my reliance for this lifeti."

Caron Spencer embraced Brooke Osborne, and sowhat absent-mindedly thought, there was once a woman who nestled softly in his arms and uttered such words.

Is she still alive?

The two quietly sat in the Arican-style kitchen, sunlight streaming through the half-open floor-to-ceiling windows, with the blue sea shimring in the distance.

A large bird of paradise perched in a cage under the veranda outside the floor-to-ceiling window, occasionally emitting a soft and low call.

Caron Spencer snapped out of his thoughts, patted Brooke Osborne’s shoulder with a smile, and said, "How many tis have I told you, you don’t need to be so polite with . We’re getting married in a while, you can call by my na."

Brooke Osborne was quite surprised, "Really? Isn’t it too early? There are still seven months before my due date!"

"It’s fine, let’s get married first to put your mind at ease, and when the child is born, there won’t be any chaos." Caron said with a smile, then stood up and said, "You go ahead with your work, I’ll go to the study to read for a while."

"Alright, Mr. Spencer, would you like so snacks? I baked a whole box this afternoon." Brooke Osborne said as she deftly took a bone china plate with white and gold trim, filling it with the cookies and blueberry muffins she baked herself, "They’re all low-sugar and high-fiber, very healthy."

Caron tried a piece, and the taste wasn’t bad; it suited his palate.

He looked at her with a smile, suddenly leaned over and kissed her forehead, "Thank you, Brooke, I really like it."

Caron walked off with the snacks, leaving Brooke Osborne standing in the kitchen, dazed for a long ti.

She no longer had any yearning for love, only wanting to find a port that could shelter her from the storms, have her own child, and live her life peacefully.

Caron Spencer was a man who, in every aspect, t her requirents, including his age, which gave her a great sense of security.

She thought Caron only wanted to repay her kindness, but unexpectedly, he treated her better and better, almost giving her the illusion that he actually had feelings for her.

This was not good.

Brooke Osborne steadied herself, inwardly admonishing herself.

One misstep in the pit of n was enough for her.

Falling into the sa pit a second ti would be truly incurable.

...

Caron Spencer went to his study, first summoning his secretary and instructing, "On Kenneth Osborne’s side, hold your position for now, don’t make any further moves."

The secretary seed a bit anxious, "But the SSA Private Equity Fund has already stepped in! Can we really just watch this piece of fat slip away?"

Caron smiled, "No need to rush, the at will cook in the pot, others can’t take it away."

The secretary looked at him with a half-understanding.

Caron curled a finger, saying to him, "Don’t worry about anything else right now, just keep an eye on the board’s movents for . Tell them to ignore the email from Sumr. Just say that I said it; haste makes waste."

The secretary nodded repeatedly, "Got it, I’ll go handle it right away!"

After the secretary left, Caron made a call to his private lawyer, urging, "You need to speed up my divorce proceedings; I want the divorce certificate by next week."

The lawyer sensed Caron’s urgency and, knowing he was serious this ti, hastily said, "Rest assured, I will find your wife once more."

After arranging things on the lawyer’s end, Caron called Spring Spencer.

Spring Spencer was currently waiting in the guest room outside the president’s office at Yanda University.

She had been waiting for over two hours, yet they still kept her hanging.

But Spring Spencer was a patient person; she wasn’t the least bit angry, instead leisurely passing the ti by reading Yanda’s newspapers and magazines in the guest room and finding opportunities to chat with the staff here to build rapport.

As the CFO of the Spencer Group, ranked tenth on the national wealthy list, she truly had no airs about her.

The few secretaries in the president’s office had a very good impression of her and were quietly comforting her, saying the president would finish the eting soon and urging her not to worry.

When the phone rang, she was saying, "...I’m not in a hurry."

Hearing the phone ring, she picked it up and glanced at it, imdiately standing up and saying to a staff mber, "I have an urgent call to take, may I ask where I can take the call?"

The small secretary promptly led her to a private room, saying, "This is for guests to make calls, please go ahead."

When she left, the secretary thoughtfully closed the glass door of the private room for Spring Spencer.
