"Co on lad! Don't let the midget elf beat you now, you'll embarrass the whole village!" an elderly fellow of too many wrinkles and horrible influence yelled at the man across from .

He'd been talking a lot of shit since I ca in and started throwing my weight around, plenty of folk were at first but their mouths clamped shut after I survived a couple dozen drinks without so much as a wobble.

Detox, tabolism, and absorb were flourishing for the last three or so months! I didn't know, we weren't the best at telling the ti. It sounded about right.

I tilted my head and gave a mocking smile to the man across the table. "What's wrong? I'm the one who's paying, you can drink as much as you like."

He looked positively green as the shine of the sun started to grace the humble tavern, mumbling sothing or other before collapsing off his chair. The crowd went silent, until the man let out a long groan. Then they cheered for another victory (though a few grabbed him and rushed to their...alchemist). I spread my arms out and smiled to embrace their adoration, letting out a few laughs of my own.

"Another! Bring more bodies and more ale, I'm far from done!"

They let out mighty shouts and the next man who was waiting, a pot bellied fellow, took the seat across from . He already had two full mugs and slid one across to ; I snatched it up and got to chugging, not bothering to see if he'd done the sa.

Alcohol was gross to say the least.

Gross and fantastically convenient for training!

It was halfway through the blissful blessing from the gods that soone grabbed the scruff of my toga and made spill the holy ale. "Alright drunkards and drunkgals, I hope you enjoyed yourselves because this one is heading for the roads," Xae said as the beautiful alcohol rested all over the table and dribbled off the edges.

I let out a genuinely pained whimper at the wasted booze. Xae got a chorus of boos that she promptly dismissed as she continued to drag . "Fuck all ya'll too, ya filthy degenerates! We have a journey to travel and I won't waste another day in this absolute shit stye."

"But I'm traiiining," I whined. The girl didn't seem to hear over the protests from my fellow hedonists, dragging out of the tavern as I flailed ineffectually.

Once we got a decent distance away she let go and let flop on the dirt. I glared at her. She glared back.

"Get up already, you absolute inebriate," Xae said.

I scoffed and got to my feet. "You should know by now that I don't get drunk, magic for the win!"

"Good for you and for wasting twenty gold on ale alone during our travels," She grumbled.

This book was originally published on . Check it out there for the real experience.

"It's for a good cause," I nodded. "I'm so close to learning more Words. Just a few more villages and I'll be set. You'll see, this is all for the grand goal of growth. Besides, we have plenty of gold from all the assets we seized."

Xae gave a look and pursed her lips. "When was the last ti you slept, Yir?"

I waved her off. "Unimportant!" I said. "I can stay awake for as long as I like!"

"We both know that's bullshit. Do you plan to travel through the mountain ranges half asleep the whole ti? The monsters there will tear you apart."

The smile I gave Xae was a sharp thing filled with a desire for violence. "And I welco them to try."

She stared hard at before letting out a sigh.

"When did I beco reasonable one?" Xae grumbled and headed off on the road.

I followed with a happy skip once I got to my feet, making our way across the village. The sun was just starting to rise, so a few people were awake, but most of the residents still rested in their cots. It would be maybe another half hour before the streets had a decent amount of people populating it with the inane chatter of pointless lives.

A rat of black and white scurried from one of the fields as we entered the outskirts and climbed up my leg to rest on my shoulder. I gave the rodent a smile. "How was your night, Daz? Find so delectable cheese to pilfer from one of the poor residents?"

Daz stood on his hind legs and mimicked a pose that would've had his hands on his hips were he human. He upturned his nose and gave a little rat-scoff. I chuckled and brought a hand up to scratch behind the rat's ear.

"You know If you want to hide that you're a witch, you maybe shouldn't be all chummy with an animal," Xae sighed.

"Ah, anyone with the senses can tell I've got no connection to Daz," I said. "Besides, what do I care for a witch hunt? If I get burned at the stake then that's just how it goes."

Xae huffed. "I'm sure you won't be thinking that while you're burning, fire sucks."

"A lot of things suck. A few of the drunker patrons could attest to that once their inhibitions relaxed." I shrugged.

"You make every village we visit just a bit more depraved," Xae grumbled. "I'm convinced you've earned a spot in Mraringa's realm by this point."

"Again, I don't get drunk."

"But you sure as shit spread the sickness," Xae shot back.

I raised a brow. "Fair enough."

Xae grunted and we continued our walk along the path to the next village. We'd been traveling for...a while. Village to village. Like I did when traveling to Anik, except this ti we knew where we were going. Well, Xae knew. I was trusting her mory of where exactly the clan was on our map.

We'd gone far to the west. If we wanted we could've joined a caravan to Yogum but...I didn't want to. Xae didn't either apparently.

So on our way we went! Staying a few days in each village we passed, killing monsters and the like along the way. It was all good fun and an adventure! Who didn't like adventures? Pussies didn't like adventures, they only liked to get fucked by life and the taphor kind of broke down after that point.

Point being, I wasn't a pussy. I was big and strong and would fucking end whatever stood in my way.

Or sothing.

I was still working it out.

Daz rubbed his body against my cheek and I gave him a smile. "I'm fine, you think Kit will co out to play today? It's been a few weeks."

Daz tilted his head and shrugged.

"I hope that bunny cos along," Xae grumbled. "I could use a nice al."

I gasped at Xae. "You wouldn't dare! She's my friend."

"I'd be doing you a favour. At this rate you'll have more animal friends than people."

"As any princess should." I nodded.

Xae turned and furrowed her brow. "What does any of what I said have anything to do with royalty?"

"Of course your puny human self wouldn't know," I sighed. "It truly is a burden to be blessed with such a heritage as mine, if only I could share. But alas, life is cruel."

"I was considering being rciful for today's sparing but you've convinced , I'm going to kick your ass."

I gave her a wide smile. "Sounds like fun!"
