I was surprised Kogan's trick actually worked.
I could feel the mana he was building up under Rhode's foot with pitch perfect clarity. It was interesting, he congregated a bunch of mana outside his body then activated his spell. I didn't know that was possible. Couldn't see a point in trying to integrate it to my own skillset though.
Since my concept was about the body and all that.
I, obviously, wasn't dicking around theorizing when such a perfect opportunity appeared. I couldn't muster the single-minded focus needed to use a droplet, but I still had plenty of mana to burn through my body before it was too much. I moved as soon as I felt the spell activate.
First I gripped the handle of my sword with my left hand and by the ti it reached its shattered brother my spell was already in affect.
I was fast enough to cut off the arm reaching for his sheathed saber.
Rhode's eyes widened.
Then there was mana.
Dancing without a tune to follow. It tasted like iron and madness.
Fire exploded out of Rhode, sending flying with little to no pain. I rolled to my feet and charged again. Didn't need to see what kind of damage he'd done. nd had barely registered it.
Rhode was releasing a continuous stream of intense fla. Hot enough that Kogan had to keep reinforcing the stone barrier between them as it lted.
It didn't stop Kogan in his quest to try and impale Rhode.
Spikes burst from the ground that Rhode managed to avoid since they were being cast too quick to be stealthy. That was fine. Sohow Kogan was leading him towards despite not being able to see either of us. Sothing to do with the ground? I'd think about it later.
I swung my sword again.
It almost sliced him in two. Almost.
Rhode shot fla out of his feet and backflipped over my swing. He stomped his foot on the ground and I had to move before a pillar of fla engulfed where I was. A stone half as big as my fist shot through his skull.
The man blinked. He wobbled.
He stayed standing.
Rhode raised an unsteady arm towards Kogan. I could barely register the sheer magnitude of mana before a beam of pure plasma blasted from his arm and punched straight through Kogan's chest.
He was too out of it to react before I amputated his other arm.
Rhode turned to with wild eyes and opened his mouth. I didn't move my head quick enough to dodge the fireball that ca out of it. Pain on the right side of my face. So intense but only lasting a second.

It exploded.
For a mont I blacked out. For another I could've sworn I was dead. The third was spent rolling out of the way of another pillar.
My brain.
nd was telling sothing about my brain.
Told nothing about my eye though, why was that? I stumbled and tried to think. I couldn't. I tried to nd my mind.
Things got a bit clearer. About a ter in the scope of kiloters.
Kill. Nothing else mattered. Kill.
I swung my blade and cut off the head of a corpse, held up by three spikes the size of my legs. Oh. Dead now. That was good. I blinked and looked over to my left.
Kogan was there. Standing pale with a sizeable hole where one of his lungs should've been. Still breathing though. Speaking of, how was I still thinking? Mmmm. I needed more mana in the noggin.
I nodded and did just that.
Kogan went to the city.
Because Kogan was a bitch.
I couldn't verbalize anything because all that ca out was incomprehensible nonsense. Tongue didn't want to make words. Words were hard. So we split. He didn't try very hard to take with him, which was for the best.
Had soone I needed to find first.
So I wandered through the forest with only my spell to support my movent. I had enough tolerance left to keep it going for the rest of the day. I didn't have enough to keep my brain functioning for that long. Wasn't that fun? The outer layers of my frontal lobe were barely burned, but it felt like I was missing half.
I think that part of the brain was responsible for movent and maybe ego? Made enough sense. So I had to use my spell even when my legs were fine.
My legs were taking nowhere.
Didn't know what I was doing. Just walking. Walking and walking and walking. Eventually I'd find the girl, only made sense really. Did it though?
Bleh, better than abandoning her.
So I walked.
And walked.
And walked.
Until I heard a squeak.
I blinked with my one eye (even the eyelids were gone on the other. So was almost all the skin and muscle on the upped right side of my face and a bit beyond actually) and stopped walking. I looked down to find a rat of black and white.
Oh. Hello there.
All that ca out was mumbles and groans. The rat didn't seem to care, squeaking again before turning around and rushing through the grass. He stopped and looked back at . Squeaked sothing angry when he saw that I hadn't moved.
Follow? Sure. I could do that.
I took steps towards my little friend. The codian nodded before turning back to the direction he was facing before and scampering forward. I didn't question it, choosing to move along the path it was treading.
He was a good rat after all.
I sent so mana to my brain. There, a little better.
We walked for however long we walked. I couldn't hope to tell ti in the state I was in and wouldn't have bothered anyway. More important things to do. I did have to kill a few monsters however.
Nothing insane.
The delay was still a pain.
I was contemplating what the clouds might whisper if I ever got that high when I found her. Xae was a ss of burns and wounds. And infections. I could sll the rancidness from here. She was staring at .
I smiled.
She took a mont. Eventually she returned the gesture.
I chuckled, ignoring the words she was saying because I wouldn't be able to understand them anyway and looked down at the rat. He squeaked an affirmative and trotted in a direction. I followed, as did a very confused Xae.
She kept saying words. Eventually she got the idea when I only responded in grunts and groans and grumbles.
So worry radiated off her. Yay!
If she was busy worrying about then her condition wasn't bad enough that we needed to rush to...hmmm. Where were we going? I sent so mana to my brain.
Still couldn't rember.
Oh well, I'm sure what's their face would deal with it all just fine. Just had to get to them. I wobbled and chuckled. Xae wrapped my arm around her shoulders and vice-versa to help stay steady. How nice. Her worry was getting worse.
We walked for however long we walked.
Trees and more trees before we found a path! Progress.
I wonder where bone-man went? Hopefully still alive, he seed nice. I sent so mana to my brain.
No, still seed nice. Must not be the damage then, wasn't that an interesting tidbit? Xae was starting to help less and drag more. I had my spell going but the connection between whatever I needed seed frayed. Like I was floating.
I wonder what would've happened if it snapped?
Just had to close my eyes.
Mmmm, I could go for so sleep right now. I was so tired.
Xae shook .
I sent so mana to my brain.
