Chapter 80: 80:Rayleigh Von z (10)

She stared at his outstretched hand for a bit, the shock stunning her to the point she forgot to retaliate against Rayleigh’s spell.

"A d-date?"

Despite being over a hundred ters away, Rayleigh could see a blush form on her face. Her pointed ears turning red.

"I admit, it’s a but unromantic where we are right now. But I haven’t yet t a mage who can be my equal. You are the first, I wish to be able to get to know you better."

"W-we’ve only just t!"

She quickly rembered they were supposed to be fighting. Launching several spells at him which he either dodged or blocked. The temporal crawl had followed them upwards. Making it a breeze to avoid her attacks.

"Besides, where could we go on a date in such a location?"

He grinned, "I’m the creator of dinsion magic. In terms of teleportation, I consider myself an expert."

She seed conflicted, the blush on her face turning her completely red.

"So? Is it a yes or a no? I won’t hold it against you if you say no."

"...I accept."

Several purple missiles flew at her. Carving the space open as it did. Leaving behind fissures in the sky. Making it look as if a monster had clawed the sky.

"Where shall we et?"

"How about here at midnight?"

She nodded, she too felt much curiosity for the individual in front of her. As the creator of two entirely new magic disciplines. He was a figure who was guaranteed to be rembered in history.

The two of them continued exchanging spells for a but longer. To the people down below, they could only witness intense world shaking calamities. Spells that ripped open the sky, stopped the movent of the clouds.

Each spell possessed the power to destroy entire landscapes, yet they were being casually tossed around by the two mages like nothing.

anwhile, the two involved were happily exchanging their magical skills. Showing off what their knowledge and more.

Rayleigh cast an illusion spell on his tent alongside a alarm spell. He had already inford to not be disturbed as he was recuperating from the battle. But just in case.

He summoned a mirror, looking at his own reflection. Before nodding in satisfaction.

In the few years before the war started, he had managed to max out his two Archmage classes. Choosing the option to level up only one class at a ti for his Trailblazer of Knowledge class.

He had also evolved from an Ultimate Human into the Perfect Human. His bodily age regressing to when he was seventeen.

Currently, he could control his body down to every individual cell. He could adjust his eyes to see into other spectrums, and even feel vibrations and moisture in the air through his skin. He usually let it all run automatically and dulled down his senses however. Having it be too sensitive made life a hassle.

He quietly adjusted his hair a bit more, making it longer or shorter at certain parts. Ensuring it all stayed in place.

He exhaled, before teleporting out of the tent and onto the agreed eting location.

It was dark—the moon covered by clouds, so he couldn’t see well. Only making out a faint silhouette against the night. With two distinctive pointed ears.

He coughed lightly, letting her know of his appearance.

She recoiled slightly, before quickly calming down.

Rayleigh extended a hand towards Sophia, a wand in his other hand.

As she grabbed his hand, Rayleigh couldn’t help but remark internally on how soft her hands were.

’Teleport.’

Without so much as a sound, the two disappeared from the silent battlefield.

And reappeared within the city of Durindon. A human city situated far from the several battlefronts. The two of them standing on the roof of a building.

He turned to look at her, the bright lights letting him see her appearance for the first ti. Causing his heart to skip a beat.

"...you’re beautiful."

Sophia seed even more striking today, a mix of graceful and delicate. Her long golden hair seed to glow. Her eyes, a blue that reminded him of sapphires. Clear, sparkling slightly as she made eye contact with him. Dressed in civillian clothes, she looked imnsely different compared to a few hours ago.

Rayleigh struggled to take his eyes off of her, if she was a flower previously, then she was like a flower that had blood now.

She blushed at his complint, only muttering a small thank you to him.

He lifted her hand—which they were still holding and quietly kissed the back of it. Causing her to let out a small yelp.

"W-what are you doing?!"

He raised an eyebrow at her, before quickly rembering sothing.

"Ah. This is a human mannerism. I apologize if it startled you."

Right. She was an elf after all. Sophia would be unfamiliar with human mannerisms.

"No, it’s fine. I was a bit...shocked is all."

She felt her own face heat up. She had always considered herself to be a calm person but being in such close proximity to soone so attractive suddenly made it hard for her to think.

Her eyes darted back and forth from his face to her hand, the lingering touch of his lips still there.

What was she thinking when she said yes! She had even worn her fancier clothes and done her makeup using the last of the human makeup she had.

Rayleigh let go of her hand only for her to quickly latch onto it again.

"I-Its a date isn’t it? We hav- need to hold hands."

She ntally rebuked herself, why was she stuttering so much! Rayleigh had been completely calm the whole ti!

"Is that so? I’m glad then, being able to hold hands with you is nice."

He smiled at her, causing Sophia’s heart to start beating faster after it had briefly cald down just now.

A sudden thought appeared in her mind, Rayleigh seed too calm. As if he was used to such a thing already.

...had she fallen victim to a womanizer?

Rayleigh was a prince after all. She had heard many warnings from her family to never marry a human. They were never loyal, and their short lifespans made for poor partners.

"Are you...a womanizer?"

He stared at her for a bit, before breaking out into laughter.

"What’s so funny?!"

Rayleigh quickly composed himself, although a smile still lingered on his face.

"I’m sorry, it was just unexpected to be called a womanizer. This is my first ever date you see. I was rely surprised."

She pouted, causing her to look cute as she asked him.

"If this is your first date, then how are you so calm?"

"Well, it’s easy to be calm when my date is so beautifully distracting."

’Do you even hear yourself right now!’

Sophia suddenly realized that this date would be a lot harder then she thought. Especially with a date like Rayleigh!

She turned her head away, hoping he couldn’t see the blush that was starting to form again. Looking down from where they were.

"Where are we right now?"

"Durindon. It’s a human city. Known as the vampire city."

"Vampire city?"

"Because it’s most active at nightti. Plus, it’s currently the Festival of Nacht"

She looked around the city, wonder in her eyes as she did.

"To think that humans can still have a festival despite everything happening currently."

He shrugged his shoulders, "You’d be surprised, if it doesn’t affect them. They don’t care. But it makes for a great place to go for a date doesn’t it?"

She didn’t reply, still busy observing everything. This was her first ti in a human city after all. It was a stark contrast to the stories she was constantly told.

She expected there to be lots of fighting, rowdy drunken n and won selling themselves blatantly on the streets. Yet she found none of that.

The two of them jumped down from the roof of the building, not before casting disguise spells on themselves.

Rayleigh was simply too high profile, while most commoners were unaware of his appearance. Hiding his attractive looks helped to mitigate so attention.

As for Sophia, an elf appearing in a city situated far away from the battlefronts would be a catastrophe. Her own beauty was also part of the reason.

The two of them landed quietly in an alley. Before stepping out into the bustling streets.

Their hold on each other tightened slightly as they wandered around. The bright lights and loud noises creating a festive atmosphere.

Slling an intense aroma in the air, Sophia could hear her stomach grumble slightly. Sothing that Rayleigh caught imdiately.

He pointed at a stall, offering several diced roasted vegetable on a stick.

"I’ve heard that elves don’t eat at, how about a small snack before we find sothing to eat for dinner?"

Before she could even nod in agreent, Rayleigh had already dragged her towards the stall and purchased several sticks for them. Handing one to her.

"Elves are allowed to eat at. We simply choose not to eat it and al-

Mid sentence, she took a bite of the skewered vegetables. Her eyes widening as she did so.

It was like an explosion of flavour in her mouth, salty, spicy, slightly smoky. The savoury taste was warm and deeply satisfying, the crispy outsides and soft insides.

Without realizing it, she had already finished her skewer. A disappointed expression briefly appearing on her face, before quickly being redied by Rayleigh handing her his own sticks.

Sophia felt her cheeks flush when she noticed Rayleigh staring at her eat so ravenously.

Clearing her throat, she tried to explain herself.

"I’ve never tasted sothing like this before. I can recognize these vegetables but, they taste so different compared to usual!"

Rayleigh felt like he was looking at a squirrel, caught in the act with several acorns. Desperately trying to hide itself. Despite the fact that its cheeks and hands were filled with acorns.

He laughed to himself slightly, handing her another one of his skewers. Seeing her expression brighten up filled him with a strange feeling.

She sulked slightly, but accepted his skewer nonetheless. Only realizing afterwards that Rayleigh had already eaten half of it.

Sophia touched her lips briefly, a peculiar tingling feeling arising within her.

The pair soon continued, making their way through the streets. Occasionally snacking on certain things which caught their eye or buying small trinkets as souvenirs.

Considering it was their first date for the both of them ever.

It went quite well.
