Chapter 159: 159:Erin’s Plans

Erin looked to her left, then looked to her right.

Silence.

Both mom and dad were eating completely peacefully, not even looking at each other.

Sothing was really wrong!

Ever since a few days ago, mom and dad had entered a strange state where neither barely talked to the other. When they did, it was always weird things she didn’t understand, or they would whisper to each other. Each whispering followed up by a brief pause from the other, before they would whisper sothing back.

The the two of them would swiftly walk away from the other, as if running away.

They didn’t go out as often together anymore, they didn’t have any small talk, and they didn’t even talk about any interesting events or how their day went anymore. Like right now while eating.

Rather, the two would just look at each other really intensely.

They didn’t even sleep together anymore!

Instead, she had to take turns sleeping with either mom or dad. In different rooms, on either the couch or the bed.

When she tried to fight back and revolt against this decision. It was quickly shut down by the two of them. Their excuse being that they needed a break from each other for a while. Sothing she refused to believe. Because what kind of mom and dad needed a break from one another?

It was also bad, because every ti she tried to revolt against their decision they always complied imdiately!

Now how was she supposed to impose her demands on them? What if she asked for ice cream one day and they said no?

They must have been fighting!

Her tail straightened, she had to get to the bottom of this!

She wanted them to be happy again! And she wanted to be able to hug the two of them at the sa ti again.

"Thanks for the food."

Raymond stood up, quietly putting his plate away before walking behind Ellen and putting his hand on her shoulder. Quietly whispering sothing directly into her ear, with barely any distance from his mouth to her ear. His warm breath sending shivers through her.

Her body stiffened slightly, before turning back and whispering sothing else back to him. A grin forming on her face as she watched Raymond walk away.

Erin watched this entire interaction, briefly narrowing her eyes.

That night, as the two separated and tried to move to different rooms. Erin tried the sa revolt again.

"Erin. Please let go of us?"

"No!"

Despite how hard she was pulling both mom and dad however, neither of them even budged. Calmly standing there as she tried to pull them back together with all her might.

Her wings flapped briefly as she strained her body, trying as hard as she could to no avail.

"Erin,

and mom just need a small rest from each other. There’s nothing wrong with us."

Erin suddenly felt a hand smoothly lift her up, unknowingly letting go of Raymond.

Seeing his back slowly retreat into the darkness. It was at this point that Erin fully made up her mind.

She had to get them back together!

---

Plan number one.

Ask politely.

"Mom, dad. Are you two fighting?"

The two of them briefly glanced at each other. Before nodding and turning back to her.

They couldn’t involve her in their duel to see who would break first. Lying was the best option.

"Of course we aren’t. Why would you think that? "

Even if they had told the truth to Erin about their duel, it wouldn’t have mattered anyways. Since the outco of Erin trying to get them back together was still the sa. It was a worthless endeavor either way.

But for Erin, who had already accepted them fighting as the truth. It just showed her an important lesson that she would never forget. A lesson she would continuously bring up in the future. Much to the chagrin of Raymond and Ellen.

Mom and dad were liars.

Seeing how they were clearly lying like this. It only solidified Erin’s decision even more. Like concrete and steel, if her mindset was tough before. It was even tougher now.

Mom and dad definitely couldn’t be trusted!

---

Plan 2

The ice cream thod.

"Dad, can we get ice cream?"

At the ntion of the words ice cream, he imdiately perked up. Standing up just as quickly as he had sat down.

"Let’s go."

If everything went according to normal, then it would have been just Raymond and Erin getting ice cream.

But Erin had a special trick up her sleeve.

Because Raymond was temporarily soft banned from ice cream. Since he had been eating it so often, Ellen had restricted the amount of tis he could get ice cream for his sake.

So Erin’s plan was simple.

Get mom to agree to give dad more ice cream! That way, dad would be so happy and excited, and so thankful for the ice cream that he would imdiately forgive and forget about their fighting. Then he would run up to mom and happily hug her, and then all was well again.

She could already imagine the near future when she could sleep with them in the sa bed again.

While Raymond got ready to go out, Erin quietly snuck into Ellen’s room. Shaking her awake.

"Mom, I want ice cream."

"Mmhm...okay."

Groggily getting up, Ellen rubbed her eyes briefly before promptly falling back into bed. Muttering with her face half buried in a pillow.

"Just tell dad you want ice cream..."

Erin blinked rapidly.

"!!!"

A new unexpected problem had arisen with her master plan.

She needed mom in order for her to say it to dad.

That way he would actually feel grateful, compared to when they normally got ice cream.

Dad always snuck out to eat ice cream without telling mom after all, and mom never ever let dad get ice cream after he had used up his quota. But she had suddenly decided to just give up here?

Grabbing her shirt, Erin tried to pull her back up again. Only for mom to yawn and easily pull Erin off of her. Barely even moving her arm just to drop her.

Falling to the ground, Erin stared at the ceiling in a daze.

Already her plan had failed, how could she possibly continue now?

Her ears quietly perked up, hearing a faint voice calling her.

It was Raymond, calling for her in order for them to go out.

Just as quickly, Erin imdiately forgot about mom. Getting up and running out the room, not even shutting the door behind her as she left. Causing Ellen to release a small groan of annoyance. One that went unheard by anyone.

But to the young dragon and Raymond, all of that was completely unnecessary.

Ice cream triumphed all.

Plan 3

Fake an injury.

This one was a relatively simple plan as well, according to Erin.

Once she was ’injured’, she would loudly cry put for mom and dad, at which point they would both rush to her aid. Forgetting about their fighting as they worked together to help her.

Truly this one was the most foolproof plan yet.

There were absolutely zero flaws about it!

Grinning wickedly, Erin quietly snuck into the kitchen.

Today was an excellent opportunity as well, since Raymond was making his boba pearls again, and Ellen was sitting in the living room relaxing. With both of them nearby, they would quickly rush to her side when she got injured.

While Raymond peacefully prepared a hot pan, he felt the presence below him jump at the stove. Climbing up and reaching a hand out right towards the pan he just set up.

With her speed, it was far too late to stop her.

But to Erin’s surprise, when her hand touched the surface of the pan. She felt absolutely nothing!

It was obvious why after all.

She was a red dragon, she might have believed she was a human. But she was still a dragon, and red ones were dragons that were especially known for their fire. Like how blue dragons were known for their frost, and silver and gold dragons for hoarding wealth. It was just a characteristic that was built into their very DNA.

A red dragon that couldn’t tolerate fire wouldn’t even qualify as a red dragon, let alone the small amount of heat on a pan on a stove.

Which was why Raymond didn’t panic when Erin stuck her hand out, she may have been in a human morph. But the amount of things that could harm her currently inside of this apartnt was very little. Mainly consisting of Raymond and Ellen.

Even when Erin stuck her hand directly into the fire on the stove, she was still perfectly fine! Only her clothes burning up and triggering the smoke alarm, which Raymond had to block with magic.

Calmly picking her up, Raymond looked directly into her eyes. Warning her,

"Erin. I know it’s very interesting but you shouldn’t do that ever again. It could be dangerous, do you understand?"

"...yes."

She looked a bit dejected, seeing how sad she was. Raymond quickly paused his boba making.

If there was one easy way to get Erin happy again, it was this easy fool proof thod they had learned of a few weeks ago.

Acting like he was about to lower her, Raymond promptly stood up again. Throwing her up into the air, just enough for her to not hit her head on the roof.

Her wings flapped briefly, her tail straightening as her dragon instincts took over for a bit and she tried to re-orient herself mid-air.

"Wee!"

Instantly, her dejected appearance disappeared. Replaced by a massive smile on her face as Raymond continuously threw her back up into the air, careful not to throw her too high lest she hit the roof.

It was probably fine even if she did hit the roof, or if Raymond dropped her anyways. She was tough enough that regular knives couldn’t even damage her skin, a small fall was no problem.

"Wee!"

Raymond had actually first done this to Erin to try and develop her flight capabilities in the future. But she ended up enjoying the feeling of falling and rising more then actually flying so it had just turned into a small little ga that they liked to play.

Carefully catching her again, he lowered Erin down seeing as she was sufficiently joyful now.

The mont he lowered her however.

Sniff *Hic*

Erin looked up to him, tears forming in the corner of her eyes as she sniffled. Before promptly crying out.

After the first sob, the rest just ca pouring out like a waterfall.

Ellen imdiately dashed over, the two of them kneeling down as they comforted her and fussed over her whole they tried to find out what was wrong. They might still have been fighting each other, but Erin’s safety was more important then their small squabble over a play.

"Erin?! What happened?!"

"Hic...mhai thung hwuts..."

Carefully holding her jaw in place, when Erin opened her mouth, a small stream of blood leaking almost imdiately confird what the problem was.

She bit her own tongue by accident.

A common mistake, one that could happen to almost anyone that was slightly careless. But for Erin, whose teeth were quite sharp. It had extra consequences.

Turns out there was another thing that could harm Erin in this apartnt, that being Erin herself.

Teardrops fell to the floor as she cried even louder, Raymond almost imdiately moving his mana on reflex as he casted a spell to heal her. He had casted so many healing soells

A bright white light shine on Erin, the blood in her mouth drying up and being cleaned as he sanitized the wound and patched up within seconds.

Erin stared at him, the tears halting as the pain abruptly disappeared. Leaving her sniffling still from the aftereffects.

"Does it feel better now?"

"...yes."

She quietly leaned into him, hugging his leg. The few remnant tears causing his pants to get soaked slightly.

Her tail abruptly pulled Ellen in as well, making it so that all three of them now had their arms wrapped around each other.

It didn’t turn out as she had wanted but.

Plan 3. Slight success.
