Chapter 964: Chapter 712 Mont_2
“I won’t fall for it anymore.”
Heyman froze for a mont, then seemingly figured sothing out quickly. He burst out in maniacal laughter, “My poor sister, did you really not realize that the black-robed figure who attacked you last ti was actually Geralt in disguise?”
“Let guess, judging by your cluelessness, Dora must still be left in another world. What you’ve been seeing is nothing more than a body controlled by that woman nad Amanda!”
“This man has deceived you!”
Heyman roared furiously.
“Why? Why won’t you trust ?”
“I’m your brother, every choice I make is the right one.”
He gripped the staff tightly, sending invisible vibrations outward.
“Soone’s trying to break the world barrier?”
As though he sensed sothing, Heyman’s gaze fell upon Roger. “It must be that woman Amanda. I should toast to your cunning; our siblings have both beco your playthings!”
“You disguised yourself as a Patrolman to get close to and deceive . Then you took Dora’s body because you knew it contained that woman Amanda.”
“After that, you used sweet lies to deceive my sister and drive a wedge between us. A fraud, a filthy fraud!”
Heyman was raving mad. As his fury surged, the wounds inflicted by Jora only worsened his condition. Although his injuries were healing, the process constantly drained his power.
Jora visibly trembled, a flicker of doubt erged on her face. She took a deep breath and shifted her gaze to Roger.
Many suspicions crumbled under scrutiny; emotions and personal biases often obscure the truth. When interference was removed and clarity regained, Jora hesitated.
“Is it true?”
After a mont, Jora asked in a deep voice.
In the past, Roger could have easily denied it without hesitation, as they were enemies at that ti.
But now, after everything that had happened and their mutual assistance, Roger could no longer bring himself to lie to Jora.
“I never thought things would get this complicated. Your ritual didn’t give Amanda a choice. At first, I just wanted to find her and bring her ho.”
“But things have spiraled out of control…”
“Shut up!”
Jora shouted angrily, “Where is Dora?”
“She’s safe,” Roger replied. “I’ve already prepared the ritual. If nothing unexpected happened, they should have completed the soul exchange by now.”
“But unfortunately, Erode’s world barrier is sealed. We can’t go back.”
Her chest rose and fell violently as Jora was consud by inner turmoil.
She thought of all she had endured, the monts when she and Roger fought side by side. “Back in the frozen world, he could have abandoned …”
At that ti, from Roger’s perspective, Jora had already lost her value because she was unaware of Sonia’s existence, nor did Roger bother to conceal his Fifth Tier aura of ascension.
Roger could have easily abandoned Jora then, but he didn’t. Thinking of this, Jora felt slightly better.
Still, what remained unbearable was… this man had shalessly entangled himself with her sister…
“Damn it, and he even had that intimate mont with . What’s worse, he was the one who passively endured it!”
Almost suffocated by anger, Jora forced herself to calm down.
“Ha, seeking to leave Erode?”
Heyman sneered coldly from a distance.
“You have no hope.” His venomous gaze locked onto Roger. “As for you, you’ll never have a chance to leave Erode.”
“With the help of the Patrolman, I’ve already pried into Erode’s foundations and used it as leverage to seal this entire world. From now on, without my permission, no one will be able to enter or exit.”
“Not even attempting to break it will work. I am the world’s eye; Erode will be my divine kingdom!”
Heyman spread his arms wide as if he possessed the entire universe.
Glaring at Jora’s grim face, Heyman revealed a smug smile. “My sister, you’ve let down too many tis. Rebelling against over and over—I’ve run out of patience.”
“Soon, I’ll beco the only god of Erode. I could have pardoned your sins, made you great like , and let you rule this world with .”
He shook his head resolutely, his expression cold. “I’ve given you chances, many tis, but you’ve squandered them all.”
“And I won’t let the Patrolman be disappointed. Hesitation and weakness are emotions for ordinary people. I want more, so I’m sorry—I must sacrifice you!”
Heyman’s face turned icy, his gaze upon Jora as indifferent as if she were a stranger.
“But if… if you’re willing to kneel and admit your mistakes, I might risk the consequences of reprimand and spare your life.”
“Everyone must pay for their mistakes, even you, my sister, are no exception.”
“I’ll imprison you like Dora for a thousand years and promise Dora limited freedom so that you can continue to experience the feeling of being alive.”
“This is my final rcy to you.”
Radiating an extraordinary brilliance, Heyman resembled a dazzling sun. The light emanating from his staff coated him with a holy glow.
He extended another hand in a gesture of condescension.
“Don’t disappoint .”
“Cough… Cough.”
Jora remained silent, but at this mont, Roger suddenly spoke: “The world’s barrier is sealed. Is there truly no way to open it?”
“Hah.”
Heyman sneered, “I’ve already said that through Sky City’s core and the structures dispersed throughout Erode, I’ve seized control of this world. Only with my approval can anything happen.”
“And just monts ago, I already gave you my answer.”
“You, and Amanda, will never be able to leave here—not even if this world falls apart.”
“Fine.”
Given Heyman’s hostility, Roger knew even a threat to his life wouldn’t achieve the desired result.
He sighed and raised his hand to launch an attack. At the sa ti, after a brief struggle, Jora made her decision.
“Our plan has failed.”
Roger’s deception still left her unsettled, but there was no one else she could rely on at the mont.
According to their original plan, they were ant to grievously wound or even kill Heyman, leaving only the eerie Patrolman to deal with.
But now, Heyman’s power had erupted exponentially. Coupled with that powerful staff, Jora suspected Heyman was more than capable of countering the two of them alone.
Enough ti had passed that the battle here would surely draw the attention of Sky City.
Which ant the Patrolman… was likely not far from here.
“We can’t retreat!”
“There’s no way out for us now!”
“He’s right, the world is sealed. You’ll grow weaker and weaker, while he’ll beco stronger.”
Roger’s gaze was unwavering, “Go. I’ll face the rest of this battle alone.”
The situation shifted dramatically, but there was no way to turn back now.
Roger had no retreat left.
Just then, the distant sky swirled with dark clouds, as though a mighty force was approaching.
“He’s coming!”
Jora’s expression turned frantic as she glanced at Roger in the fight and then at the encroaching storm clouds, her stance wavering instantly.
“Planning to flee?”
“None of you will escape!”
“Seal!”
Heyman gripped his staff and summoned all his power, causing the surrounding air to harden like steel.
Roger’s eyes glinted as suddenly, a pitch-black hand erged behind Heyman.
Thud!
Roger twisted and shattered the spatial seal around him. The Black Moon in his hand disappeared, only to reappear firmly gripped by the pitch-black hand.
“What is that?”
Jora was horrified, and taking advantage of Heyman’s disruption, Roger advanced instead of retreating. He charged forward, bypassing Heyman, and appeared at the edge of a rocky mountain summit.
There stood a battered Evans.
Boom!
The two figures clashed. A crack split the skin across Evans’ forehead, and Roger retrieved a funnel-shaped container from him.
Bang!
Roger crushed it with force, and golden sand emitted radiant light that wrapped around his palm.
“What are you doing?!”
Roger said nothing as a beam of light shot out from his forehead, and within the stubborn barrier, he located a faint fissure. His sand-covered hand struck it.
Rumble.
The barrier trembled, and under the dissolution of the golden sand, a barely perceptible gap appeared.
Roger’s aura flickered briefly and transmitted into the void.
But the next second, the world barrier returned to its original state.
Falling from the air, Roger turned back and looked at the descending figure from above.
