Chapter 943: Chapter 702: Fourth Tier, How Many?
Boom!
Just before Evans’ attack was about to crash into Henrik and the others, a sudden burst of dazzling light erupted in midair.
An invisible barrier divided the castle’s interior and exterior into two separate worlds, using the canyon as its boundary.
In that instant, everyone’s hearts sank, but it only lasted for a fleeting mont. The heavy feeling vanished, along with Evans’ attack.
“What just happened?”
“Who blocked his attack?”
“Could it have been just a bluff?”
More Demon Hunter Apprentices whispered among themselves, but Henrik revealed a confident smile.
“Thank goodness it wasn’t a lie; even an attack of this caliber can be deflected.”
Higurashi Chika’s tense fingers slowly loosened, she raised her head and glanced around. Though she didn’t see that familiar figure, the comforting aura enveloping the surroundings gave her an inexplicable sense of peace.
“Roger is back?” Hathaway’s eyes widened.
Goway, however, shook her head. “No, it’s just so safeguards he left behind.”
Such a clash of forces had already exceeded her current understanding of power, but along the way, she had witnessed far too many miracles.
If soone were to tell her now that Roger could face the giant dragon head-on, Goway wouldn’t have a shred of doubt.
“Huh?”
Evans’ forehead displayed a funnel-shaped mark, “Deflected my attack? This place truly is odd.”
“No matter, it’ll just take a little more effort.”
He stopped in his tracks, his massive fra quietly accumulating strength in the shadows.
“We need to act quickly. Last night, you destroyed three gathering sites of the Hunters Guild in Arnia and killed a Fourth Tier mber. I don’t think it’ll take them long to trace us,” Chachi reminded him.
“I know what I’m doing.”
Evans grumbled under his breath, “Those guys are pathetically weak, and they call themselves Transcendents?”
“Only the last one was barely worth looking at. If the rest of this world is like this, there’s nothing to fear.”
“Don’t forget, even ants can overwhelm an elephant. Your strength has a ti limit,” Chachi snapped, thoroughly annoyed by Evans’ arrogant attitude. But he had no choice — this guy was Heyman’s direct confidant and far too powerful to confront.
Bang!
Evans didn’t reply. His massive fra suddenly surged forward like a tornado, and at the sa ti, the sky underwent a rapid transformation.
Cloud layers pressed incredibly low, and the areas surrounding Kaer Morhen were filled with countless intersecting blades of azure light. He was preparing to give his all, aiming to annihilate the unseen defenses with one strike before slaughtering everyone.
Crash!
Trees collapsed, rocks split apart, and a terrifying tornado materialized out of thin air.
But monts later.
Even though chaos reigned in the outskirts, the far side of the drawbridge remained eerily calm, not even bending a single blade of grass.
“Impossible! Are they hiding in another space?”
“Is all of this just a projection?”
Roaring in fury, Evans hurtled forward.
The drawbridge beneath his feet crumbled under the violent force, and Evans spread his wings, the mark on his forehead radiating blinding light.
To witness the sheer magnitude of his attack, the area surrounding Kaer Morhen looked as though it had been struck by natural disasters.
“Everyone, be careful!”
Henrik could barely breathe as he led the group to retreat a safe distance away. In the next mont, Evans’ grotesque form convulsed, and his massive tail swept across the battlefield.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Like a sledgehamr smashing through ice, faint cracks appeared in midair. Evans roared furiously, golden light nearly pouring out from the mark on his forehead.
Then, with a sharp sound that seed to break through a threshold, he crossed the bridge with murderous intent, setting foot on Kaer Morhen soil for the first ti.
“What impressive defense chanisms!”
Evans sneered, “Hmm, Chachi, go to the room at the top of the castle and take Amanda’s body. I’ll stay here and slaughter everyone Geralt cares about.”
His ferocious eyes swept across, eventually landing on the mystical statue at the center of the square in the distance.
Swoosh!
Chachi didn’t hesitate. His body darted forward like a sword, leaping over the canyon and the shattered bridge, aiming for the castle’s heights.
But then, mid-flight, an inexplicable chill gripped Chachi’s heart. His blood seed to freeze in his veins, his ears humd, his vision blurred.
In the next instant, as he regained control of his body, he realized a pale figure had appeared before him at so unknown point.
“So familiar…”
Panic-stricken, Chachi glanced toward the square’s center, where the base of the statue still stood firmly, even the detailed engravings along its edge were plainly visible.
“The founder of Kaer Morhen…the Demon Hunters’… Agh!”
With a tearing sound and excruciating pain, Chachi lowered his head to see the statue co to life before his very eyes, delivering a single strike that pierced his chest.
His scream was lodged in his throat, while blood from his wound uncontrollably surged into that pale arm. In re monts, it had drained nearly all his Essence Blood!
“What is this thing?!”
Evans’ furious roar echoed in his ears, followed by swirling winds. Chachi knew he was now plumting from a great height.
The bright light faded, ushering him into abyssal darkness.
“What a pity. I’ll have to send soone to retrieve him later.” Henrik feigned a contemplative pose and leisurely shifted his gaze back to…
The floating statue in midair.
“Roger, that guy… I told him when I wanted to erect a statue in his honor, he vehently objected, yet now… what exactly did he hide inside this statue?”
