Chapter 909: Chapter 685_2

At this mont, the other Transcendents’ attacks had just reached the front.

“Get lost!”

The brilliance of the Quinn Sword Seal flashed through his mind.

Roger spread his hands to the sides, forming an invisible barrier in the void. Before the attacks could get close, they were stopped and deflected.

Then, a terrifying shockwave swept across, leaving chaos in its wake.

It all happened in just a few breaths, yet now only Heyman Tuge, who intended to leave, was left standing in the field.

Boom!

Golden light shot into the sky, and Heyman’s figure disappeared in an instant.

Fast, incredibly fast!

If not for the spatial distortions around him signaling Heyman’s location, Roger feared he wouldn’t have been able to react at all.

But even so, he had no ti for any complex actions.

Connecting his feet to the ground, Roger’s body slid sideways. Then, he slightly shifted his stance and swung his right fist.

Thud!

An explosive impact erupted. All the force was absorbed by the ground, and Roger barely maintained his balance. Taking advantage of the brief clash, he took a deep breath, sensing the Black Moon by his side.

But at that mont, the rapidly moving Heyman suddenly stopped his attack. He laughed heartily and descended from the sky.

“Hahaha!”

“My apologies, Mr. Geralt,” Heyman said, spreading his arms wide.

“Please forgive my recklessness. Your sudden arrival took completely off guard.”

“During our last communication, I was inford that the inspection would be delayed for so ti.”

“I never expected this to be a surprise assault. Rest assured, my loyalty to the Dragon Court is unwavering, and I am always ready to accept inspection.”

“There’s no need for such asures.”

By the end, Heyman tilted his head slightly, his face revealing an unapologetic arrogance tinged with a trace of frustration.

Inspection… Dragon Court…

What is this?

His mind clouded with confusion, yet Roger’s expression remained unreadable. Clearly, Heyman had mistaken him for so prominent figure from the Dragon Court.

Lacking sufficient information, Roger dared not show any reaction. He could only maintain a stoic expression, silently observing Heyman.

“Although your approach adheres to protocol, I will certainly report my feedback to the Dragon Court once the inspection concludes.”

“Because this is a grave insult to and the entire Tuge Family for the contributions we’ve made to Erode!”

“I am a Supervisor. It won’t be long before you witness the results of my work.”

He paused briefly.

“Forgive for being presumptuous, but may I ask which seat you belong to?”

“The one who guided to beco a Supervisor was none other than Lord Monsod, one of the twelve seats…”

Though Heyman appeared defiant, he subtly disclosed his identity by the end.

Roger realized that, at this mont, he had to display a hint of attitude.

“From the mont you spoke your first word, everything had already begun.”

Roger’s expression remained unchanged as he silently scrutinized Heyman.

Heyman had abruptly stopped mid-battle, clearly noticing sothing particular about Roger. This peculiarity had led him to mistake Roger for a Transcendent from the Dragon Court.

This Transcendent’s purpose here was to carry out an inspection.

An inspection of Heyman’s work as a Supervisor.

As for Heyman’s identity and the terms he ntioned—Monsod and the twelve seats—Roger knew nothing at all.

Stopping mid-battle to talk indicated that Heyman’s misunderstanding was likely based on so form of judgnt. However, Roger couldn’t discern the truth behind the information conveyed by Heyman.

He couldn’t even confirm whether Monsod truly existed.

He couldn’t answer yes or no to these questions.

Answering “yes” would inevitably lead to exposing flaws during further communication.

If he answered “no,” Heyman might seize the chance to press further, revealing gaps in Roger’s façade.

Although Heyman had initiated the misunderstanding, too many inconsistencies in a short ti might cause him to question his judgnt and conduct tests.

In that case, Roger’s identity would definitely be exposed.

Thus, he had to respond ambiguously.

He sidestepped Heyman’s question, subtly insinuating that the inspection process had already comnced.

Of course, if Heyman had also lied about his Supervisory role or the inspection process, then Roger would have no choice but to fight outright.

Still, since the misunderstanding was initiated by Heyman, the odds of him probing imdiately were slimr. His error in judgnt indicated either a lack of understanding or limited knowledge about the so-called Supre Dragon Court.

This worked to Roger’s advantage.

By claiming that the inspection had already begun, he could compel Heyman to be cautious in his actions and words. This would buy him valuable ti before the real “official” arrived.

Such a rudintary and uncertain deception was all Roger could manage for now—taking one step at a ti.

His priority was to approach Serlon Peak and find Amanda.

“My apologies, Mr. Geralt.”

“Please, co with .”

Golden runes surfaced on the ground, shifting and coalescing into intricate patterns. In the next mont, blinding light surged, and the scenery around them transford.

Amid swirling clouds, they now stood above the heavens.

Roger glanced around, spotting Sonia not far from him, but Chachi had vanished.

“I spent centuries constructing this Astronomical Platform,” Heyman said.

Golden light trailed from his fingertips, dispersing like flowing sand and perating the ground around them.

The entire Sky City was suspended mid-air, its surface smooth and narrowing towards the bottom, forming a conical shape.

From where Roger stood, he could overlook the entirety of Sky City.

Beneath their feet, the ground flowed like liquid, climbing upwards and concentrating at the summit to form an observation platform.

The view through the vantage point morphed once more.

Instead of seeing Sky City or the human settlents below, what erged now were abstract lights of varying size and colors, representing life essence rather than individual silhouettes.

“The Imperial Capital, Sky City, and this Astronomical Platform,” Heyman said.

“A trinity, inseparable from one another.”

His face brimd with pride.

“After the Astronomical Platform was completed and fine-tuned over nearly a century, no uncontrolled Transcendent force has erged on the land of Erode.”

“Through deliberate suppression, the world’s collective power has steadily waned. Give a bit more ti, and the power under my control will be sufficient to upend the entire world.”

“To reshape it according to my will.”

“Is this the alliance you established?” Roger suddenly asked.

“To create deterrence and facilitate governance, all formidable forces have fallen under my grasp…”

“But beyond the alliance, this world still harbors Rebels.”

“Indeed, but they are temporary. Without top-tier combat strength, they are forced to hide and scatter, nothing more than a ragtag bunch.”

Heyman explained further.

Roger said nothing, rely letting out a faint hum through his nose.

“Mr. Geralt, where shall we start?” Heyman asked.

Roger scanned his surroundings, his gaze finally settling on a faintly visible black peak in the distance.

“What is that place?”

“It’s where my sister Dora resides,” Heyman replied.

“It has nothing to do with our work.” He added quickly.

Roger narrowed his eyes. “Whether it’s relevant or not is not for you to decide.”

“What if I insist on going there?”

A glint of danger flashed in Heyman’s eyes but was swiftly concealed.

“The alliance’s existence has restricted the developnt of many Transcendents. My sister happens to be the leader of these Rebels,” he admitted.

“But to fulfill the Dragon Court’s assigned inspection work, I chose to imprison her. It has already been seven hundred years.”

Heyman revealed a hint of lancholy, but soon he raised his head. “My loyalty to the Dragon Court is unquestionable. Please, co with .”

With those words, he led Roger away from the Astronomical Platform. A chariot arrived, but Roger shook his head, vaulting onto Sonia…

…who had transford into a unicorn.

Heyman made no comnt, leading the way. Before long, they arrived at Serlon Peak.

“The girl is here.” As soon as they approached, Sonia’s voice echoed in Roger’s mind.
